- 31/10/16. Casa de América estrenó su ciclo ‘Ritmo&Tuits’ con dos guitarristas de excepción: Don Ross (Canadá) y Pipo Romero (España).
Don Ross es un referente en el mundo de la guitarra, concretamente en el género “Fingerstyle Guitar”. Ha sido el único guitarrista en la historia en ganar el Campeonato Nacional de “Fingerstyle Guitar” de EE.UU en dos ocasiones. Por su parte, Pipo Romero se caracteriza por su particular forma de tocar la guitarra (Spanish Acoustic FingerStyle) y la mezcla de estilos raíz de una forma innovadora y transgresora, lo que le ha situado en el foco de los guitarristas a tener en cuenta en los próximos años.
El ciclo
Durante algo más de una hora, ambos virtuosos de la guitarra interpretarán distintos temas, que podrán ser disfrutados y tuiteados por el público. Porque una de las características principales de los conciertos de ‘Ritmo&Tuits’ es que el público podrá compartir sus impresiones, vídeos y fotos en la Red, con el hashtag #ritmo&tuits, para ser aún más partícipes de lo que ocurre en el espectáculo. Y todos los que quieran seguir el concierto vía online, también tendrán esa posibilidad gracias a estos comentarios, vídeos e imágenes, sin necesidad de estar físicamente en nuestra sede, el Palacio de Linares.
Además, los artistas estuvieron acompañados junto al escenario de pantallas en las que se proyectaron los tuits que se van lanzando.

Was listening to Antoine Dufour play this song recently and came upon this video with the composer playing it. This is a kickass tune that I would love to loop so that I can listen to it for hours.

Any one else amazed at the fret configuration on his guitar? I am amazed that you can do that, and still have it play, but I am a drummer, guess I'll just be facinated as usual at Don Ross' genius of the git box,BRAVO!
Fan fret! Scale lengths r different between the low and high strings, therefore this makes notes more accurate across the neck.

I guess I don't get around, because I have NEVER seen a guitar with such an unusual fret board. Clearly not a problem to Don, though, who voices it with his usual mastery. Thanks for posting this!

So good! Fairly true to the PS recording from 99. Lots of cool adjustments and improvs. Flanger in the middle. My take on the woman in the background. I think it was a set up for some sort of humorous statement. Or Some sort of something. For one it was a concert. So what was she doing there anyways? Or maybe she had gone to the bathroom, And did not want to walk across the stage and Snd disrupt the performance, so instead She fiddled about on her
phone? :-). I think it’s hilarious!

That woman in the background is really annoying. She's got a musical genius and one of the guitar greats playing right in front of her and she's arsing around with her phone! Some people just haven't got a clue. Brilliant playing from Don, one of my favourites by him.
A quick smack to the back of the head would be appropriate in this situation.

At least, if she has to use the damned phone, get out of the view of the camera. Ridiculous! What is she doing even standing back there? Whatever "Casa America" is, it doesn't seem like a good place to have a concert with a major artist like this if they're not going to treat him with respect.

Another evidence that most women do not like music performed by not-so-good-lookin-guy. They just see what's behind the music, not to enjoy the music itself.

Don Ross' ability is technically on a level above many others, but the song just lacks emotion. Too many notes. It's just boring to listen to. You compare this to something like Lindsey Buckingham's "Big Love" or Mark Knopfler's "Brothers in Arms / Sultans of Swing / Tunnel of Love"... Yes, they're less technical, but the guitar's voice and the song's emotion comes out so much more. These songs aren't boring. The guitar is more about the song and the emotion and less about the technical aptitude of the guitarist. Night and day differences. No wonder the girl is on her phone. She's probably googling the tab to the other songs...
