Wow! I'm 12 years old and I play worship for my church, homefellowship, and my school so I needed to learn 5 songs in one day, and I wound up coming to this video; I can't believe I just learned how to play an amazing and easy song in 7 minutes! Thank you very much! I played this song for the homefellowship/ church tonight thanks to you. (I only had 10 minutes to find and learn a new song when I found this video.) :D
To all those who are stuck on the riff... 1. Do a G chord like normal 2. Then the finger that is on the low E string bring that down to the 2nd fret high E string (and remove your pinky finger from the high E string) 3. Then leave all other fingers where they are and remove the one on the b string 4. Then just put it back on the B string in the same place :) For the Em chord: 1. Do a normal Em chord 2. Then move your finger on the D string to the high E string and remove your pinky from the 3rd fret (same as the last time) 3. Remove your finger from the B string (like last time) 4. Place it back on at the same place For the D string: 1. Do a normal D but with pinky also on the 3rd fret on the E string (so there is one finger on the 2nd fret and one on the 3rd of the E string) 2. Then do a regular D chord 3. Then remove your finger off the B string 4. Then go back to a normal D chord Took me some time to figure out too! Hope this helps :)
This does not seem right... on the G chord how do we move the finger on the low E string (middle finger) to the 2nd fret high E string? In the video the guy giving us the tutorial uses his First Finger...and same thing for the Em chord: the finger on the D string is my middle finger! Im supposed to use my middle finger to hold the A string for EM and my First Finger for the 2nd fret high E string.. Right??? But then Worship Tutorials says she's EXACTLY right so I am confused XD
For the G chord, use your index finger (the one on the A string, not the low E) to play the 2nd fret of the high E. Just make sure you mute that A string with the flesh of your middle finger (on the low E string). In fact, when I play this song, I use my index finger for the 2nd fret of the high E on all the chords except for D. Just fret the bass notes of the G, C, and Em chords with your middle finger.
What you are doing for all of us really is wonderful... can't tell you enough how much I (and others) appreciate these tutorials! Praying for you brother!
Thank you so much!! I've been playing drums for 10 years and never thought i would be able to play guitar. But after 2 months of just general chord practice i can now play this song. Which is probably my favoirte song ever written, it really allows me to connect with God on a deeper level. Your amazing, and i appreciate all that you do. Finally someone on youtube that shares the abilities that God has given them so we can better worship the Father.
Just for informative reasons: John Mark McMillan plays in C. The chord progression used is; C, Am, G, F. The little riff, mentioned at 2:39, as I have found it to be, played by James Duke (lead guitar); is C, B, E, C, B, E, G (repeat twice during one progression). David Crowder took this semi lead part and made it more into augmented chords for a single guitarist. This version is great too, a lot depends on how you sing and what key you sing in. Props for a nicely done video.
Great tutorial! I found this video several years ago when I was brand new to learning guitar. I remember the close ups of your hands were very helpful. This is still one of my favorite songs to play and I think this is the best version. I usually warmup by playing through a couple minutes of this song. Thanks again and God bless.
Thank you Brian!! You are gift from God! The way you teach is so easy to understand. I wasn't able to play any song till I find your Tutorials. I'm so glad!! I'll be always thanking God for your life. Well done!! :)
Hi! I like how you present the tutorial step by step! I am just learning how to play guitar and I really like to play "How Great is Our God" and "How He Loves Us". I am trying my best and so excited to learn these two songs. Thanks a lot for your tutorial!! God bless !!!
Your lessons are great, other online lessons do not compare. Learning all my first songs from you and im really getting the hang of it. Some of Hillsong's newer songs would be great to learn as well. Your a real blessing. Thanks a lot.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am learning guitar and it is so frustrating to not be able to figure out whole songs. Strumming patterns are my weakness, so thank you so much for taking the time to make this and post this. I'm so excited to be able to easily learn how to play a whole song.
You save me every week I have to play in church I always come to see if you covered it. Thannk you you should do a tutorial on (my love colours outside the lines)
thank you so much for your tutorials! I love your teaching methods, your so calm and at ease. What a gift you have and thank you for sharing with us who seek to learn all we can with what God gave us. God Bless you and all who are reading this. He does LOVE US!! :-)
I love this song and am so grateful that there's a detailed tutorial that explains how simple it is to play!! :) Thank you Bryan Wahl. And on strumming: for one chord, this is what you will need to strum: D DUDUD DUDUD DUDUD DUDU (change).
WOOOU!! EJEJEJEJ QE GENIO Q SOS!!!!.... YO ACA AUNQUE HABLASEN INGLES ENTENDI EXACTAMENTE TODO..EXPLICAS PERFECTO!!... Y TENES UNA HERMOSA VOZ!!! DIOS TE BENDIGA MUCHO
That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!! The best tutorial!!!!!! :D David was in our church last week and he performed this song. See their videos under name. I'm following your tutorial now! :) Thanks so much again.
You're awesome! God bless you and your worship ministry! All of your guitar tutorials are awesome and helpful. Keep going and keep pointing the glory to the King! :D
Hello, so I am pretty confused...The D on the Chord Chart is not what you do at 2:35 but then at 4:40 you do it like the chord chart but then again at 5:26 you do a D without putting your middle finger on the high E string. How do we know when to do each different kind of D? And also, at 4:29 for example, is it okay to not have your first finger down on the A string second fret? Does it basically sound the same? Thank you for the help! Also, if you don't mute the strings at the top with your thumb, how can you skillfully only strum the strings with the pick that you need to strum on the down and up strums??? That confuses me how I can do that and perfectly place the pick to start and stop at the A or D string for example Thank you anyone for helping me I am new at playing guitar
Awesome lesson man. It took me only like 5 min to do the little riff part over the chords and it sounds so good I love it. Nice Martin, I play one too. Keep up the good work Brother.
Ok I am still stuck on the riff I know how to do it but I don't see you you strum and play the bass notes at the same time. Can I get some help with this?
This is my first full song that I know to play, thank you for your time to explain and teach in order for a total beginner can learn it.....also the only song I know to play lol 😆
I’ll explain, so it’s pretty much the easy way to play ( G,Am,D,C ), your ring finger and pinky always stay on (ring finger) 3rd frett B and (Pinky finger) on 3rd frett on Low E, so you don’t have to keep your fingers moving all over the place :) usually every worship song revolves around those chords
3x0033 3x0032 3x000x 3x003x 02x033 02x032 02x00x 02x03x Xx0233 xx0232 xx0202 xx0232 X3x033 x3x032 x3x00x x3x03x Brian plays the 2nd fret on the high E string when I've marked it as muted, but I think it sounds better.
To do the extra bit thing, play a regular G chord (works with Em also) but just: Lift pinky finger Lift ring Put ring back Switch chords Lift pinky Lift ring Put ring back
Thanks mate I was looking to learn to play this song since I statrted messing around the guitar.... you explain it well. This is actually my all time favourite worship song in my church. Peace :) BIG THUMBS UP :D
interesting points ,if anyone else wants to discover christian guitar video lessons try Skyarza Christian Guitar Star (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.
The riff becomes MUCH MUCH easier if you tune the High E string down a half-step to D#, so the riff becomes G 320034, 320033, 320004, 320034 e 022034, 022033, 023004, 022034 D 300234, 300233, 300203, 300233 * C 032034 x 4 * Note that D starts out the same, but slightly breaks the 'pattern' set by the G & Em Let me know if I've got anything out of place as I struggle to think in 'frets'. This way means nearly -no- gymnastics and your fingers always stay anchored...
This is an amazing video! I just started playing the guitar and wanted to play this song and this video made it easy to learn! Thank you. You're a great guitar player and a great singer as well! God bless you :)
I still don't get the riff part.. I can't bend my index finger to go behind next to the pinky finger. HOW is that possible for anyone? Unless i missheard
Hey bro I don´t have a capo. Is there any way I can play this without using one or do I need to have a capo? Same goes for how great is our God. Thanks and God bless you man you are a great guitar teacher.
Hey Brian very good video, like always. Tiny constructive criticism is you will, the Em you play and show in the video is actually a variation of the Em known as an Em7. You may know this but if you could put that next and all the times you an Em7 that would be great so people did not get confused haha...that's all I got though, love your vids and keep 'em comin! :D
thanks for sharing this video ! I was wondering what type of guitar you have ? The specific name would be great ! Or if you recommend any specific guitar to a beginner ! Thank you so much ! God bless
@brianwahlband is this the key that Crowder does it in? sorry, total beginner haha. just wondering because that's what i always sing it in at church, so that's what i'm most comfortable with.
if ur playin w/o a capo, figure out where ur chords where he is playin in key of g w/ capo at 4 for an open fret board... (ie g chord at capo 4 is really a barre b chord, an Em7(which is what he is playing here) is an A flat minor) so on and so forth... its transposition... itd really help you in the long run to learn to transpose keys...
@brianwahlband I rather enjoyed your Tutorial. I currently play it in the key of E. However I have been riffing with your intro and bridge. I truly love it. I thought I might add an easier way to accomplish it though. Since the bass note is only strummed 1/4 or once per four strums, tucking your pointer finger on the E string seems uncomfortable. Id recommend using your middle finger. you don't hear the loss of the "G" bass and it also flows a bit better into the Em7th. Praise God for His work.

I wish schools now would put God first. It’s quite saddening really
time goes by fast now your 22 years old
To all those who are stuck on the riff...

4. Then go back to a normal D chord
Took me some time to figure out too! Hope this helps :)
Hey Dawn - that's exactly right! Thanks for taking the time to explain it so well!
This does not seem right... on the G chord how do we move the finger on the low E string (middle finger) to the 2nd fret high E string? This is awesome. I'm just starting out and your tutorial is to the point and well made.

Someone tab 2:50 I cant seem to get how he's playing the chords that way
I’ll explain, so it’s pretty much the easy way to play ( G,Am,D,C ), your ring finger and pinky always stay on (ring finger) 3rd frett B and (Pinky finger) on 3rd frett on Low E, so you don’t have to keep your fingers moving all over the place :) usually every worship song revolves around those chords

X3x033 x3x032 x3x00x x3x03x
Brian plays the 2nd fret on the high E string when I've marked it as muted, but I think it sounds better.
Awesome Teaching! Thanks a lot and God bless you for taking the time!
You are a very good teacher, thank you!
THANKS BRO I´M FROM MEXICO AND I LIKE A LOT YOUR TUTORIAL.... BLESSINGS FROM CABO MEX.
To do the extra bit thing, play a regular G chord (works with Em also) but just:
Lift pinky finger
Lift ring
Put ring back
Switch chords
Lift pinky
Lift ring
Put ring back
Fantastic brother.
Awesome! One of my favs. God bless!
Thanks mate I was looking to learn to play this song since I statrted messing around the guitar.... you explain it well. This is actually my all time favourite worship song in my church. Peace :)

2017 is a year of new beginnings
Great tutorial. Sometimes it is so hard to find just the simple, easy lead guitar part. Thanks!
Thank you
You also have a beautiful voice
Thanks for the tutorial. I always struggle to find the simple, basic lead guitar part.
Blessings!
I play it with the lead part in half time. Way more funky.
The riff becomes MUCH MUCH easier if you tune the High E string down a half-step to D#, so the riff becomes
G 320034, 320033, 320004, 320034
e 022034, 022033, 023004, 022034
D 300234, 300233, 300203, 300233 *
C 032034 x 4
* Note that D starts out the same, but slightly breaks the 'pattern' set by the G & Em
Let me know if I've got anything out of place as I struggle to think in 'frets'. This way means nearly -no- gymnastics and your fingers always stay anchored...
Thanks for what you do ! Will you please do a tutorial on King of my Heart by Bethel music. I am sure you will love it !
Beautifully done! How would I do the riff if I am in the key of C?
This is an amazing video! I just started playing the guitar and wanted to play this song and this video made it easy to learn! Thank you. You're a great guitar player and a great singer as well! God bless you :)
I still don't get the riff part.. I can't bend my index finger to go behind next to the pinky finger. HOW is that possible for anyone? Unless i missheard
Your the best, i watched your video always.. God bless you 💚💚
What was that strumming pattern, i'm a beginner and I wasnt quite able to catch it. Great Lesson :)
Hey bro I don´t have a capo. Is there any way I can play this without using one or do I need to have a capo? Same goes for how great is our God. Thanks and God bless you man you are a great guitar teacher.
OH MAN! what a tongue twister at 1:50 haha awesome tutorial! God bless youl!
Could you please help me understand better how to form the Em and D chords while playing the intro lick-
Hi, I would like to know what the amplifier is for your acoustic guitar. excellent tutorial and a lot of help.
blessings
Hey Brian very good video, like always.
Tiny constructive criticism is you will, the Em you play and show in the video is actually a variation of the Em known as an Em7. You may know this but if you could put that next and all the times you an Em7 that would be great so people did not get confused haha...that's all I got though, love your vids and keep 'em comin! :D
@brianwahlband can you tell us where our index finger go on each chord for the riff??
I still can't figure out the intro beginning where you play the riff
thanks for sharing this video ! I was wondering what type of guitar you have ? The specific name would be great ! Or if you recommend any specific guitar to a beginner ! Thank you so much ! God bless
its brilliant aways wanted to learn this song thank you very much for your time and sacrifice
is there a way i can use this tutorial for a flute??
Need instructions on strumming pattern. Help. Video goes too fast!
what is the strumming pattern again? +wordshiptutorials
Thank you. That's amazing.
thanks for all your work what a blessing
Do you know how to play Reign in us that's a beutifull song I learned a lot from you
How do i play this on the electric guitar? Same way without capo?
what's the name of the song in the beginning and thanks for the lesson God Bless
@brianwahlband is this the key that Crowder does it in? sorry, total beginner haha. just wondering because that's what i always sing it in at church, so that's what i'm most comfortable with.
Thanks!!
Wow! Amazing tutorial!!!
What the strumming pattern and what the measure note example 3/4
can you please write the 'David Crowder' riff chords for me? i would greatly appreciate it thanks! :)
if ur playin w/o a capo, figure out where ur chords where he is playin in key of g w/ capo at 4 for an open fret board...
