It's sad that no one teaches this anymore and sewing was an important and basic skill. My mother taught me and I taught my daughter. She's 23 and her friends look at her as if she were performing some kind of magic.

I am shocked it was this easy! So you really just use an iron and apply heat to both sides? Does the heat just melt the fibers together? (Sorry, I’m dumb) just honestly wondering about the science behind it!
Because of your tutorials, I have been able to repair a few shirts for my husband that were “unsalvageable.” I am not very skilled at it, but It’s coming along.

It amazed my husband when I darned his favorite socks. Where I darned, lasted longer than the rest of the sock. Hahaha.
I learned how to do this 50 years ago as a young child. My mother and father taught all their children the fine points of tending a family. We all can cook, clean, sew, garden, do simple house hold repairs and minor automotive repairs. It has saved us all thousands of dollars over our lives. In this day and age, we need to all know how to repair what we have.

Me too, the same, my grandma even had like an object made from wood that somewhat looked like a mushroom and she would put the material on it and start sowing really beautifully.
Yes. My mom called it "darning."
I always start out well but get in a rush and wind up with a lumpy mend.

Yep, my Nana taught me to "darn" socks or holes in clothes the same way. She had a small dried gourd to use as surface to stitch against. 💕
This was absolutely magical. I have no prior sewing experience, but I was able to sew up a small but obvious hole in my favorite shirt. The iron made a world of difference.

I love that tick in fixing that hole in the shirt because, you really don’t see it unless you actively looking for it. I will use from now on when I get a hole in my clothes that way they can last bit longer.

Thanks! If the fabric is very sleek (like silk) it's better to iron something thin behind with a heat-glueing side. Otherwise you would see wrinkles and the colour difference without the mottled fabric would be obvious.

It is sad, that Home Ec, is no longer taught, we have Family Living, or in my school, I taught Life Skills. Sewing or mending was not part of the curriculum, but I made it part of my "reL life skills" course. Replacing a button, patching a tear in clothing, as well as how to read a recipe, the difference of dry/ wet measuring.

When sewing, how much material do you needle to make your thread Not show on the Front of Shirt? I did your style, but my thread showed through the Front of Shirt. I need to know how not to gap material from back to front.

Good Video , but you don't SHOW how to Start or End the Hand Stitch . A Closing Knot to end the Stitch or the Starting Knot would have helped .

It seems those stitches only wrap around three or four threads at most on each pass. Does that little reinforcement really have the strength to hold the stitch together, especially where the fabric is already weakened? Also, can it really stay in place without unraveling when one end of the thread isn't even tied off?
This work has been tried thousands of times and proved to be successful and effective.

I would loop the end for reinforcement..make a small knot

Very nice. I think the thread will eventually unravel, though, if you don't tie a knot at the end. If someone wants to secure it with a knot, should the knot go on the outside where it might be visible or on the inside where it might be felt by the wearer? That's the problem.
If you mean the final fixing stitch, if you slack a little, you will find that I do it in a way similar to a sewing machine stitch, which is by passing some threads intensively on each end, and I have explained this in many videos

Change colors as you go over the stripes.
You should have used different colour for the thread for tutorial so it would be clearer for the viewers to see the sewing pattern.
