I started buying Deftones albums with "Koi No Yokan." I was living in Korea at the time, and it holds some memories for me. I think it's one of the most consistent sounding albums from Deftones. I think that's what I really look for in an A Tier album--does it flow seamlessly? Funny enough, I actually paid less than full price for "Gore." I'll have to listen to it again, but it sounds like they continued their groove from "Koi No Yokan," and chilled it out a bit...I think sound-wise...it sounds like a continuation. It's not as thoroughly enjoyable to listen to though. I think Deftones has been aurally consistent since "Koi No Yokan" though. What did you think about "Ohms"?
Saturday Night Wrist is my absolute favorite from them, which it’s all subjective and almost everyone has a different favorite. Deftones are without a doubt one of the most original bands out there. Can’t be duplicated 👽👽👽

Poltergeist is always the song I play for people who have (somehow) never heard them. It has heavy riffs, a beautifully sung clean vocal chorus, and great song structure with the pre-chorus being as catchy, if not more catchy than the chorus itself. The heavy parts are brutal and Abe shines on the drums.
I remember buying adrenaline and around the fur on the same day for £10 in Camden markets. Instantly fell in love with Chino and the riffs, never heard anything like it growing up in an area that was full of garage and jungle… 6 months later white pony came out and it changed my life 💜
My fav album is Saturday Night Wrist, which is also my all-time fav album. It has truly changed the way I listen to music and it has introduced me to other music genres like shoegaze and post-rock. I listen to it front to back almost every day and it always bring a tear to my eye when I get to the closing track Rivière. Amazing record, great production, fantastic band.
I'm with you. Saturday Night Wrist is not only my fav Deftones album but is also rubbing elbows with my favorite albums ever tbh. It's just so diverse and sonically interesting. And it's paced really well, too.
@@watershipdownTN Right there with you guys, also the first one I bought on release so that plays into it, but an amazing record. It gives a vibe like nothing else.
Diamond Eyes holds an immense amount of nostalgia for me. I hold that album in high regard for making me want to branch out and find new bands because of just how rough the alt-metal was in 2010. Hearing the title track and Rocket Skates was just a powerful experience back then in 8th grade after hearing all the other trash on the radio at the time.
The Linkin Park sound change and Mike Shinoda shoutout of Diamond Eyes definitely pushed me into DE becoming my nostalgic introduction to the band as well
My ranking White pony Diamond eyes Self titled Koi No Yokan Ohms Around the fur Adrenaline Saturday night wrist Gore I think Self titled is their most underated album personally and one of my favorites.
S Tier: Around The Fur, White Pony, Diamond Eyes, Koi No Yokan A Tier: Saturday Night Wrists, Ohms B Tier: Deftones C Tier: Adrenaline, Gore D Tier: None of their albums are lower than C Tier in my opinion, because I don't believe they have released a bad album yet. Both Adrenaline and Gore are decent albums with a handful of great songs. Gore has 2 of my favorite Deftones songs of the last 10 years in Phantom Bride and Rubicon. Adrenaline is one of the best Nu Metal albums of all time, but it doesn't have the unique signature Deftones sound that they are known for which would be first used on Around The Fur and take it's true form on White Pony where they would get rid of the Nu Metal elements almost entirely and incorporate shoegaze in to their sound.
I would have to say I agree almost 100% with the ranking. My favourite song from Deftones is probably Can’t Even Breathe which appeared on a movie soundtrack but couldn’t understand why it was never put on a proper album. Love your videos, especially the tier listings. Thanks and stay heavy.

What's remarkable about Deftones is that they are one of the few bands on earth who have substantially shaped a whole genre - new metal - at the time, and then transcended it, while still maintaining an originative and yet distinctive sound throughout their whole career. Around The Fur is, in my view, their single most remarkable and important work, but basically all of their LPs are A or at least B tier. Interesting to see that you sense that much variation, especially between Koi No Yokan and Gore, which have a very similar feel to me. Overall, I think even Deftones' worst albums are good albums by all standards. Good stuff anyway.

I didn't care much for Gore when it came out and didn't listen to it much but now in 2024 I listen to it and it is amazing, I feel bad for not giving it a chance all those years!
I got adrenaline upon release. Haven't heard an album since white pony. Got into ornette coleman and moved away from anything vaguely nu-metal. Gonna have to dive in and see what I've missed!
My favorite is a tie between white pony and around the fur, with koi no yokan closing behind. Both ablums i can listen to on repeat all day. Adrenaline starting growing on me. I thought self titled was ok, Saturday night wrist is awesome, i didnt listen to gore because i heard it wasnt that good and ohms is really good.

I'm a big fan of Chino's writing the most. Songs like Sextape and Cherry waves are heavy but have some cool pop type elements. I do think Diamond eyes is my favorite for songs like Rocket Skates and Cmnd/Ctrl and again, Sextape And ranking: 9:Gore 8:Ohms 7:Koi No Yokan 6:Adrenaline 5:Deftones 4:Saturday Night Wrist 3:Around The Fur 2:White Pony 1:Diamond Eyes

Another interesting thought: The skip-game. Out of all the studio albums which songs do you find yourself skipping the most? (Be totally honest with yourself is the point of the game. Let's go contraversiol...ja ja ja!💥)🤟 A - Nosebleed ATF - Lhabia, Crickets, Dai the Flu WP - Back to School, Elite, Street Carp, Korea ST - Lucky you, When girls telephone boys sometimes. SNW - Rapture, Beware, Mein, "the instrumental", Rats rats rats, Xerces and Combat sometimes. DE - Beauty School (only if I have to) and Risk. KNY - Graphic nature G - Doomed User, Pittura Infamente sometimes, Xenon, Gore sometimes, also Phantom Bride sometimes. Edit: it's a terrible idea for a game. Since it depends much on the day you're havingvand your mood, still Rapture and Rats rats rats NO thanks!
My personal list which I don't think will match most: Diamond Eyes Deftones White Pony Adrenaline Ohms Saturday Night Wrists (kimdracula most underrated Deftones song ever made) Koi Yo Nokan Gore Around the Fur I hate having a bottom of the list since all of their albums gave me such joy at different times.
Team Sleep, Crosses, and Palms are all great as well. I do hope we hear more from Eros someday too, but I do like the tracks that are available. Also, I always felt like KNY and Diamond Eyes were very similar but also preferred KNY. I wish they kept on that track with Gore, but Ohms was great!
My Deftones Tier List, now with Ohms out. S Tier - Diamond Eyes, Koi No Yokan, Ohms, White Pony A Tier - Around the Fur, Adrenaline B Tier - Self-titled, Gore C Tier - Saturday Night Wrist WP and ATF are definitely iconic and both have some of the best tracks they've ever written but that doesn't mean these are their best albums.
Today I wouldn't put Ohms on S tier, it would drop to C-tier. I 'd put Around the fur on S-tier and the self-titled too. I'd maybe drop white pony to B (yeah, I know but...) As to SNW and Gore, yeah maybe you're right
Aye i got that same shirt from their 2003 tour lol. Solid list! Only thing I'd change is swapping self titled with Adrenaline, not a fan of the super raw/poor audio quality and production choices, and I feel like self-titled brings a lot more versatility to the table than Adrenaline.
I've never been a fan of Deftones idk but I randomly looked up Deftones tier list and here I am lol I'm gonna check out the "white pony" album as soon as I finish this video
Sadly I disagree with the gore placement, I thought it was so sick, phantom bride is incredible on so many different level IMO, nonetheless great video man
@MetalTrenches I definitely appreciated 'Lucky You' on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack, but personally, as far as a vibe that year, they should've used Deftones' 'Battle Axe': same with Linkin Park, they used 'Sessions' in that movie, but I think they should've used 'Hit The Floor'🤷🏾♂️
I’m struggling to figure out which album I want to buy on cd, White Pony or Saturday Night Wrist. I like more songs on SNW, but White Pony has more memorable songs.
The first album I ever heard by Deftones was their Self-Titled album in 2009, and it’s remained my favourite ever since. I could never get into White Pony… in fact, to me, White Pony is likely my least favourite album by them. Second favourite would have to be Koi no Yokan followed by Diamond Eyes.
Gore is an underrated album. I had to listen to that one over and over for it to grow on me. its deftones at their most meditative through an indie rock lens. Honestly in my opinion deftones do not have a bad album. For me it just depends what I'm in the mood for
Hearts/wires, xenon, prayers/Triangles, Phantom bride....some of the best songs they've made, ever. I'm 39 and adrenaline is the second album I've ever bought. The Nu-Metal scene was a shit time for music. It was fun at the time, but ultimately a terrible era for the rock scene. Quite possibly what ultimately killed it. But the Deftones transcended that label. Their music is ever evolving. I've followed them every step of the way and are probably the only band from my early teens I still worship, religiously. I'm probably just being an overzealous fan boy, but so many moments of my life are accompanied by Deftones albums as the soundtrack to those memories. Not trying to shit on your opinion. Sorry if it came off like that. I'm just extremely passionate about my boys. Deftones for life!❤🤘
And I've been to 22 Deftones concerts and have met every member, even Chi before he passed. They mean more to me than even I knew before I posted on this video...🤣🥰
Been jamming Deftones and being in love with the music since Adrenaline and im sorry but White Pony is not thier greatest record. Its amazing and im in no way trashing is or being a detractor for the sake of it. I feel like it was so far outta left field and so unbelievably interesting and different than ATF and Adrenaline that it caught fire very easily. For me KNY is their best record to date. Every song is a banger no filler no weak tracks. The flow is amazing the sequencing is amazing. The production is unbelievably polished (maybe too well if im being honest). Self Titled however is my fav record and has and will likely never change. So heavy so dark and painful. My kind of music lol but i get why people dont dig it as much i guess. Saying its B sides id ridiculous imo though great vid mate.
To each their own, its hard grading them. Deftones purposely change from album. Regardless their so god damn good that anybody would take the time to rate them says alot. ALOT
I would have ranked them exactly the same. And Pony is a music masterpiece. Now, Ohms for me is between C and B, although for now, more like a C. The 2 singles were the best songs by far and had made me have high hopes. 😢
@@MetalTrenches I gotta keep listening to it to see if it grows on me, but I find many guitar riffs too forced onto some songs, and some songs like a scramble of thing put together but that don't mix that well.
Agree on your opinion of KNY. Diamond Eyes is at the same level. Gore has production issues but is chill album. Love the first two and geometric headdress qith hearts and wires...lmirl also beautiful. Its a diferent album for sure, some weak tracks but way better than SNW; aside from hole in the earth and cherry waves the rest of the thing is a painful experience. Vocaly is chino worst album while gore is one of his best.
@@MetalTrenches Yep! I just gave another spin on the Self-titled album today, after so many years; looking back at all the albums I think this is at the same level of ATF (yet maybe a notch lower due to the importance of the previous). It has got this unique drony ambiance - Delgado shines - it almost feels (forgive the imagery) like you´re thirsting in a desert but you keep going forward despite dust storms and the quicksand and you're grateful and proud for the strength in your heart. All sort of mirage of vivid memories flash right in front of your eyes; like these are outside yourself - between illusions and disillusions.Yet you keep going until you feel the breeze and hear the sea waves crashing at your feet... then SNW happens, appears as a ship beyond the horizon and you want to go back! Ja ja ja!! (just kidding.) The guitar work thou sounds the same throughout the record and chino's screams are weak and crippled compared to ATF. Ohms sounds to me lIke KNY...Can't wait!
@@MetalTrenches I loved deftones since ATF. One of the few "high school bands" I still comeback to. Diamond Eyes and KNY just gave me new hope, they're a better band now, I think.
thats so weird hearing snw being vocaly chinos worst album thatd probably go to gore for me, rubicon is probably one of the most painful deftones songs for me
@MetalTrenches I'll admit dude, 'Gore' absolutely sucks if you're in a traditional metal mood, I agree with that, but if I'm in a "road trip/vacay" kind of mood, "Phantom Bride" kinda slaps😅
It's my favorite Deftones album. Most Deftones music is atmospheric, but snw just hits that sweet spot in my brain. Especially with songs like Cherry Waves, Riviere, Beware- the list goes on. That being said, the flow of the album is very "rigid" For lack of better words. WP has a very consistent sound throughout, and manages to mix it up just enough to be engaging with every track. SNW doesn't have THAT much of a consistent sound. It's kinda like it thrashes you around. As an album to sit down and listen to in it's entirety, I wouldn't say it's as good as WP. Some of Deftones' most atmospheric tracks came from SNW though, and it's a shame to see how low so many people rank it on tier lists sometimes
S Saturday Night Wrist, Around the fur A Koi No Yokan B White Pony, Diamond Eyes C Adrenaline, Gore, Ohms D Deftones (Self titled) [except "Minerva" that's S tier for me since it never aged a bit] E Fuck no not here F Never in a billion
S Tier: Koi No Yokan, Saturday Night Wrist, Diamond Eyes, Ohms(?) A Tier: White Pony, Ohms(?) B Tier: Around the Fur C Tier: Deftones, Gore D Tier: Adrenaline Ohms? I've listened to it once. Honestly? Easy A Tier. Possibly S level.....but I've only listened once. But, good lord....it hit me HARD. I really really love it so far. Which is interesting.....the first two single were cool and all. The Ohms song basically did nothing for me. Genesis was VERY cool....but that's about it. Wonky chorus honestly. BUT.....ALL the other songs, are captivating me. I'm so happy. :)
I can’t believe you didn’t mention Cherry Waves from Saturday Night Wrists I loved that song, it’s so…I don’t know how to describe it. Erotic, sensual, I don’t know. It’s on my top 5 of Deftones songs❤
Just listened this weekend again to "Adrenaline" and was surprised how much I liked it. Otherwise agree "Around The Fur" & "White Pony" are the best. Don't have a good feeling about the new album and my expectations are quite low.
Same, but I've found that low expectations is better than having them too high. They came back from the somewhat week self-titled album so you never know. We shall see. Other tier lists you'd be interested in seeing?
@@MetalTrenches Metal Trenches I prefer reviews than tier lists but would like to see Nightwish list. Or if you wanna go more underground - some doom band - Saint Vitus, Evoken, Yob. By the way I thought initially that you were overhyping this Loathe album and still can't say I love it but keep coming back to it a lot.
@@Count_Deangeli Ha that says enough I think when an album keeps you coming back like that. More reviews and roundups coming for sure. Unfortunately I am the wrong person for both Nightwish and more traditional doom. Just not things that have ever really appealed to me but I keep trying.
Well Necessity is the mother of invention and it's a necessity that this be better than gore, so maybe they invent something wonderful also deftones are even numbered minded so who knows
Seems new album will come out in September. To me the band has no bad album but my two personal favorites is a tie between White Pony and Diamond Eyes. Gore i like it but it is my least favorite too. The new one will be more guitar driven.
I hated Gore too for a solid year, but after listening to it probably literally 300 times because I kept CD's in my car player for months at a time back in 2016.... it holds up with the rest for me. Not really digging Ohms at all, and I'm surprised that people are liking it more than Gore.
Man sorry but Deftones self-titled 2003 is much better than 2012’s ‘K N Y’ ! It has better heavier more memorable riffs and even the more synthesized tracks are stronger deeper. But it’s my opinion this was actually also the first Deftones CD that I bought but not the first one I heard, Cheers
I know I'm kind of in a minority, but I just don't really see the appeal for Koi No Yokan, It just doesn't do it for me. I much prefer their older stuff, Around The Fur, White Pony and Self Titled being my favourites by them.
I love Koi No Yokan but that's fair, it was deffo a different sound but it works for me. I think that some of there best songs of all time like rosemary are on that album.
And I wouldn't recommend newcomers to Deftones to start with "Koi no yokan" - I think it doesn't quite represent the band in all it's glory - need to give it another listen, though, haven't listened to it for more than 5-6 years.
That and Diamond eyes imo would be the first albums to show someone who hasn't listened to them before. Not as good as white pony but white pony is an album you love when u become a fan of the band so that would come later.

I think it’s one of their best, pretty much love every track. It’s a study in contrasts, cool heavy and softer stuff.

Report back!
I think deftones s tiers are white pony, around the fur, and Saturday night wrist
Love those two vinyls beside you. You have amazing taste
🖤🖤🖤
My favorite is a tie between white pony and around the fur, with koi no yokan closing behind. Both ablums i can listen to on repeat all day. Adrenaline starting growing on me. I thought self titled was ok, Saturday night wrist is awesome, i didnt listen to gore because i heard it wasnt that good and ohms is really good.
S: Around the Fur, White Pony, Koi No Yokan
A: Deftones, Diamond Eyes, Saturday Night Wrist
B: Ohms
C: Gore, Adrenaline
(I think) mine is:
1) White pony
2) Saturday night wrist
3) Around the fur
4) Diamond Eyes
5) Koi no yokan
6) Deftones
7) Ohms
8) Gore
9) Adrenaline
I'm stoked to hear you hold White Pony in the same high esteem that I do. One of the best all-time records PERIOD!
S- Around the fur, White pony, Deftones, diamond eyes
A- Saturday night wrist
B-
C- Koi noi yokan (I have tried so many times, I just can’t see it and I feel wrong for this)
D-
F- Gore
I'm a big fan of Chino's writing the most. Songs like Sextape and Cherry waves are heavy but have some cool pop type elements. I do think Diamond eyes is my favorite for songs like Rocket Skates and Cmnd/Ctrl and again, Sextape
And ranking:
9:Gore
8:Ohms
7:Koi No Yokan
6:Adrenaline
5:Deftones
4:Saturday Night Wrist
3:Around The Fur
2:White Pony
1:Diamond Eyes
Chino has a great ear for accessible interesting hooks, he’s one of the best in the game.
"Feiticeira" is a word from the portuguese language. English speakers can pronounce it as "f ay ty ssay ra".
Here's mine
S tier - white pony, Koi no yokon
A tier - Saturday night wrist, gore
B tier - diamond eyes, around the fur, B-sides and rarities
C tier - Adrenaline, covers, self titled
And ohms would probably be c tbh
Not bad
Pony without opening with 'Feiticeira' is criminal. Btw, it's pronounced "Fey-tee-seyra". Portuguese for 'Witch' 🧙♀️
Thanks! that has always bugged me

1 KNY
2 SNW
3 GORE
4 ST
5 WP

7 ATF
8 A

ni n ho oh n i n Interesting
Another interesting thought: The skip-game. Out of all the studio albums which songs do you find yourself skipping the most? (Be totally honest with yourself is the point of the game. Let's go contraversiol...ja ja ja!💥)🤟
A - Nosebleed
ATF - Lhabia, Crickets, Dai the Flu
WP - Back to School, Elite, Street Carp, Korea
ST - Lucky you, When girls telephone boys sometimes.
SNW - Rapture, Beware, Mein, "the instrumental", Rats rats rats, Xerces and Combat sometimes.
DE - Beauty School (only if I have to) and Risk.
KNY - Graphic nature
G - Doomed User, Pittura Infamente sometimes, Xenon, Gore sometimes, also Phantom Bride sometimes.
Edit: it's a terrible idea for a game. Since it depends much on the day you're havingvand your mood, still Rapture and Rats rats rats NO thanks!
ni n ho oh n i n Sacrilege. These are among my favorites
@@MetalTrenches Well to each is own...I knew I would hit a nerve somewhere. 😄 I guess you'd skip some of my favs too.
My personal list which I don't think will match most:
Diamond Eyes
Deftones
White Pony
Adrenaline
Ohms
Saturday Night Wrists (kimdracula most underrated Deftones song ever made)
Koi Yo Nokan
Gore
Around the Fur
I hate having a bottom of the list since all of their albums gave me such joy at different times.
You like gore more than Around the Fur?!!! That’s fuckin WILD bro!!!
@@dalekay9ine i liked the Gore album. Xenon, (L)mirl, pittura infamante, all great
BATTLE AXE is my favorite off s/t Killer drums and love the drony ambience.
S Tier - Diamond Eyes, Koi No Yokan, Ohms, White Pony
A Tier - Around the Fur, Adrenaline
B Tier - Self-titled, Gore
C Tier - Saturday Night Wrist
WP and ATF are definitely iconic and both have some of the best tracks they've ever written but that doesn't mean these are their best albums.
ohms in s tier and gore over snw💀💀💀
Today I wouldn't put Ohms on S tier, it would drop to C-tier. I 'd put Around the fur on S-tier and the self-titled too. I'd maybe drop white pony to B (yeah, I know but...) As to SNW and Gore, yeah maybe you're right
@@ni_n__ho.oh__n_in ok ok have a good day
Aye i got that same shirt from their 2003 tour lol. Solid list! Only thing I'd change is swapping self titled with Adrenaline, not a fan of the super raw/poor audio quality and production choices, and I feel like self-titled brings a lot more versatility to the table than Adrenaline.
A fair argument, but I love that raw sound.
I've never been a fan of Deftones idk but I randomly looked up Deftones tier list and here I am lol I'm gonna check out the "white pony" album as soon as I finish this video
Thoughts?
1.Koi No Yokan
2.Around the fur
3.White Pony
4.Saturday Night Wrist
5.Deftones
Sadly I disagree with the gore placement, I thought it was so sick, phantom bride is incredible on so many different level IMO, nonetheless great video man
To each their own. Thanks! Hope you checked out some others.
I would go with White Pony. It's classic!
@@Dusty338 sorry, I ended up going with Saturday Night Wrist, but I will probably buy White Pony still some day 👌
@@darricktv9857 Saturday Night Wrist is an epic album as well!
only listened to a few albums but
1. White Pony
2. Around the Fur
3. Adrenaline
4. Deftones
Time to expand
My fav is diamond eyes, I feel so connected to it
S: Around the Fur, White Pony, Diamond Eyes
A: Koi No Yokan
B: Deftones, Saturday Night Wrist, Ohms
C: Adrenaline
D: Gore
F: N/A
The first album I ever heard by Deftones was their Self-Titled album in 2009, and it’s remained my favourite ever since. I could never get into White Pony… in fact, to me, White Pony is likely my least favourite album by them.
Second favourite would have to be Koi no Yokan followed by Diamond Eyes.
self titled one of their best albums 🙅♂️
Least favorites, S/T, Gore and the new Ohms.
Gore is an underrated album. I had to listen to that one over and over for it to grow on me. its deftones at their most meditative through an indie rock lens. Honestly in my opinion deftones do not have a bad album. For me it just depends what I'm in the mood for
A quick listen to Gore- seems heavily Will Haven influenced
Dude....Saturday night wrist should be way lower. Self titled is at least an A tier. And Gore at the bottom?! 🤯 WHAT!?
Jeffrey Wagaman differing opinions make fanbases way more fun. Curious what you love about Gore.
@@jeffreywagaman3468 nü metal actually was the entrance gate for metal for a ton of kids. Also there's good bands in the genre.
I love gore! Listen to it all the time!!! Not sure why everyone shits on it? Not intelligent enough to understand it is my guess?
self titled is Godtier - C is an abomination.

Brett Leverett this is the most unique list I have seen yet
@@MetalTrenches now that Ohms has been released, what tier do you give it?
Brett Leverett A
To each their own, its hard grading them. Deftones purposely change from album. Regardless their so god damn good that anybody would take the time to rate them says alot. ALOT
Very true.
S Tier: White Pony, Diamond Eyes
A Tier: Around The Fur, Koi No Yokan
B Tier: Deftones
C Tier: SNW, Adrenaline
D (or F) Tier: Gore
Solid list. Thanks for all of the comments!
Nailed.
I just change Deftones for Koi No Yokan
What does “S” stand for in the tiers?!
I would have ranked them exactly the same. And Pony is a music masterpiece.
Now, Ohms for me is between C and B, although for now, more like a C. The 2 singles were the best songs by far and had made me have high hopes. 😢
Personally Ohms would be closer to an A or B for me.
@@MetalTrenches I gotta keep listening to it to see if it grows on me, but I find many guitar riffs too forced onto some songs, and some songs like a scramble of thing put together but that don't mix that well.
@@jangarcia1338 We all have our albums that click for us and not others.
Vocaly is chino worst album while gore is one of his best.
ni n ho oh n i n Really interested to see what direction the new one will go
@@MetalTrenches Yep! Ja ja ja!! (just kidding.)
The guitar work thou sounds the same throughout the record and chino's screams are weak and crippled compared to ATF.
Ohms sounds to me lIke KNY...Can't wait!
ni n ho oh n i n Love your enthusiasm 🤘🏻
@@MetalTrenches I loved deftones since ATF. One of the few "high school bands" I still comeback to. Diamond Eyes and KNY just gave me new hope, they're a better band now, I think.
thats so weird hearing snw being vocaly chinos worst album thatd probably go to gore for me, rubicon is probably one of the most painful deftones songs for me
I only watched to make sure you put around the fur in S tier. I’m not a white pony fan but I realize I’m wrong.
Great list man. Around the fur and koi no yokan are definitely my favorites
Thanks. Need to update with Ohms at some point
@MetalTrenches I'll admit dude, 'Gore' absolutely sucks if you're in a traditional metal mood, I agree with that, but if I'm in a "road trip/vacay" kind of mood, "Phantom Bride" kinda slaps😅
Self Titled definitely my favorite, White Pony in a close second
Both great. Interested to hear how the new one sounds.
Self titled is amazing. Can't wait to hear Terry Date's influence on the new album ❤
I felt like the only one that really liked self titled 😅
Same here I love self titled
@@ClawingStill I LOVE S/T easily in my top 3 albums of there’s.
Oh and their super F-ing versatile that does not make it easier
IMO adrenaline is an S hands down.
honestly i think saturday night wrist is alongside white pony, lets have a discussion
Tell me why
"Around The Fur" has definitely stood the test of time! That entire album still has legs folks....
Saturday night wrist and Around the fur
Pure adrenaline ponies
S Saturday Night Wrist, Around the fur
A Koi No Yokan
B White Pony, Diamond Eyes
C Adrenaline, Gore, Ohms
D Deftones (Self titled) [except "Minerva" that's S tier for me since it never aged a bit]
E Fuck no not here
F Never in a billion
First 3.
The rest are reaching and grasping, attempting, you can hear the uncertainty. Rest easy Chi
White Pony was a album that I never felt the need to press skip+. Amazing front to back. Deftones is more consistent then Korn in my opinion.
S Tier: Koi No Yokan, Saturday Night Wrist, Diamond Eyes, Ohms(?)
A Tier: White Pony, Ohms(?)
B Tier: Around the Fur
C Tier: Deftones, Gore
D Tier: Adrenaline
Ohms? I've listened to it once. Honestly? Easy A Tier. Possibly S level.....but I've only listened once. But, good lord....it hit me HARD. I really really love it so far. Which is interesting.....the first two single were cool and all. The Ohms song basically did nothing for me. Genesis was VERY cool....but that's about it. Wonky chorus honestly. BUT.....ALL the other songs, are captivating me. I'm so happy. :)
Great list. Interesting first time I've seen SNW in S tier.
That’s my list almost to a tee! The SNW, DE, and KNY era was my favorite personally
I can’t believe you didn’t mention Cherry Waves from Saturday Night Wrists
I loved that song, it’s so…I don’t know how to describe it. Erotic, sensual, I don’t know. It’s on my top 5 of Deftones songs❤
Best to worst for me...
1. Diamond Eyes
2. Koi No Yokan
3. White Pony
4. Around the Fur
5. Gore
6. Saturday Night Wrist
7. Deftones
8. Adrenaline
NovaScotian84 Not bad. I still feel like Diamond Eyes is a little overrated
sextape and xerces are my fav songs from them 🤘
i think mine would be:
S: Deftones (best), SNW, White Pony
A: Koi No Yokan, Gore, Diamond Eyes
B: Adrenaline, Ohms
D: Around The Fur
Around the Fur D???
Skull wearing skull! Love the channel dude:)!
White Pony!!!
The best!
Broooo you should TOTALLY buy Gore and just occasionally listen to it, it may grow on you one day. Never know....
I am so happy that I have the original White Pony cd that doesnt start with Back to School 😂
Omg lol, I died at the Simpsons clip, one of my fav lines
Seems new album will come out in September. To me the band has no bad album but my two personal favorites is a tie between White Pony and Diamond Eyes. Gore i like it but it is my least favorite too. The new one will be more guitar driven.
I hated Gore too for a solid year, but after listening to it probably literally 300 times because I kept CD's in my car player for months at a time back in 2016.... it holds up with the rest for me. Not really digging Ohms at all, and I'm surprised that people are liking it more than Gore.
Alex Walker One day maybe for both of us
I give Ohms an S tier. I guess not all directions are for everybody but that album is a masterpiece
white pony >>
Man sorry but Deftones self-titled 2003 is much better than 2012’s ‘K N Y’ ! It has better heavier more memorable riffs and even the more synthesized tracks are stronger deeper.
But it’s my opinion this was actually also the first Deftones CD that I bought but not the first one I heard,
Cheers
i'm so unfathomably disappointed he put their self-titled in C Tier when it has more than a few of their best tracks.
Based Koi No Yokan placement
White Pony
Ohms
The rest of them
I know I'm kind of in a minority, but I just don't really see the appeal for Koi No Yokan, It just doesn't do it for me. I much prefer their older stuff, Around The Fur, White Pony and Self Titled being my favourites by them.
scentless_apprentice Fair enough. The classics are still the best.
I love Koi No Yokan but that's fair, it was deffo a different sound but it works for me. I think that some of there best songs of all time like rosemary are on that album.
Did you know Steph plays drums on UUDDLRLR whatever?
And I wouldn't recommend newcomers to Deftones to start with "Koi no yokan" - I think it doesn't quite represent the band in all it's glory - need to give it another listen, though, haven't listened to it for more than 5-6 years.
Fair enough, but DEFINITELY give it another run. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
That and Diamond eyes imo would be the first albums to show someone who hasn't listened to them before. Not as good as white pony but white pony is an album you love when u become a fan of the band so that would come later.
I disagree with your take on Saturday Night Wrist, I feel that album is ageing the best out of their entire discography
I dunno. Every time I go back to it I seem to like it less.
@@MetalTrenches Fair enough
White Pony is Deftones best album by far then around the fur
Always thought the thing on the cover of adrenaline was a douche XD
