Not many people even want to talk seriously about drinking. Speaking openly and honestly with not only yourself, but "strangers," is admirable and brave. Keep doing so! DD
Good for you, standing up for yourself in answering that question about feeling useless. One doesnt have to only contribute to the world through their work. There so many more ways!
Excellent information!! Your openness about the pitfalls and successes are great motivation for first time buyers or those looking to upgrade. Thanks again!!
Try to set a goal for yourself to go out for dinner and not drink. Or don’t have any alcohol at home and only drink when you go out. Try to have more days in a week where you don’t drink than days where you do. Alcoholism isn’t necessarily being drunk all the time. But being dependent and drinking more than you really want to, indicates that you might have a problem Well done for acknowledging it and being vulnerable with us. But be honest with yourself and try to set a goal to make sure you cut back on alcohol.
? People go through phases - I've had a number of friends drink on the regular. I have done the same. And then stopped or slowed down or changed our patterns. As a matter of fact, I still have friends who have a glass of wine on the daily. Doesn't make you an alcoholic. Just because she mentioned it, doesn't mean anything except she's sorting through it.
@@beedee4890 Having a glass of wine daily is fine, if that's what you want to do. Monica said that she regularly drinks more than she would like to be drinking. Not being able to control what you're drinking, and drinking when you don't really want to, indicates that there is a problem. I was only saying that people think alcoholism is drinking until you pass out in the park at 3am, everyday. When it's not. It's a lot like this - Drinking when you don't want to, drinking more than you would like and not being able to control it.
Hey, Monica, would you ride on any Amtrak Routes like Coast Starlight, California Zephyr, Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited, Texas Eagle, and Empire Builder there. You may enjoy on a long haul ride on a train.
It's good that you are conscious of your drinking. I quit drinking 8 years ago and it was the best decision I made. Think about quitting. If you need something to relax take CBD.
Always amazing production work from camera work, editing, sound, and presentation. Is most of this self-taught? I remember seeing a video you said you took some classes.
I stayed at the avala campground a couple of years ago when they had just opened up. The view was so beautiful and the downtown area is small but super cute. I think you’ll like it 😊
So brave of you to discuss the alcohol topic. I think many of us have had the thought. I like the social aspect of drinking and I like a great beer or a tasty mixed drink but overall I think it brings little to no value to my life. It makes it harder for me to lose weight, hurts my sleep at times and I’m confident enough now at my age that I don’t think I need it. I’ve reduced my intake in most cases, don’t generally drink unless in a social setting. Sadly unlike you golf and drinks seems to be my kryptonite at times 🤣 That being said I’ve found on some golf nights I’ll say to the guys I just don’t feel like drinking and often one of the others will agree. So don’t feel you are alone people and don’t feel you need alcohol to be happy or your best self. So cool that you let those people live in your house Monica, that’s going the extra mile.
With the tenant living in your house I assumed you weren’t going back to Seattle. So since you are and there is someone living in your house, where are you going to live?
Just wondering... doesn't this hopping between states complicate your taxes enormously? Given that CA is notorious for , from what I've heard, once they think you're a CA resident not letting you go and tax all of your income even if it's earned out-of-state? Don't you end up paying taxes for the same income twice in two different states? 🤔
@@jj-if6it yea but if you’re someone who’s so dependent on alcohol that you can’t go a day without feeling the need to have a drink or two, that might mean you’re not able to moderate yourself properly. She should probably talk to someone about it.
Definitely keep an eye on the drinking. A lot of people think that being an alcoholic always means you’re sneaking vodka in your water bottle and constantly blacking out, but honestly drinking every single day is really not good for you. Even if you’re only having one drink on the super low end, not being able to get through a day without having a drink does show a clear dependence. I’m glad you recognize it and acknowledge it, but I don’t think you should think of it as just a casual thing.
I really liked your answer to the question about life purpose of we're not making a global impact! The way i like to think about it is that there are over 7B ppl in the world and such a small hanful will ever make a global impact but if we all try to do little things to help each other in our own small ways then that adds up into a global impact. Almost like if we all try to just be good regular people then we don't even need as many super heroes.
I am very sensitive to the smell of alcohol on other people. Drinking every day makes your sweat/body odor change. It can be very offensive to those around you, even after you have taken a shower. Ugh.
I actually love that you mentioned a slight compelling desire to drink. I will say, I feel like there are way too many influencers who equate not drinking with almost a type of superiority. Which is annoying. My friends and I have all been in phases where we drink more, and then sometimes less. Thanks for sharing :)
I don't believe it deserved a response.. arguing that moving is one of the most stressful things to an audience that moves all the time due to rent increases or lease terminations showed privilege to me that I otherwise wouldn't have noticed.
You must be making heaps of money and it sounds like a fun job. Honestly who cares that you're not making a global impact?? As if everyone needs to do that...
Still a bit confused about the Seattle vs Palm Springs thing. Will you be living at Jason's house? Will you do 6 months there over summer and then back to PS?
I noticed your problem with alcohol long time ago. Once I was even tempted to message you about it but then I thought It would just get you upset. I hope you work hard on it because it can really ruin your future once it becomes chronic.
quitting alcohol is a huge life hack. anyone around you who’s not cool with it is their own problem & insecurity. to be healthy, being sober is obviously ideal. especially when you’re young. set yourself up for your best health (& feeling great) now!
Hi Monica, Congrats on your engagement. Btw, What are your thoughts regarding De-Dollarization, World Reserve Currency Shift, and the significance of the 2017/2024 Solar eclipses?
There's nothing wrong with drinking the way you do. Avoiding binging and drunkenness. But it's also good to make other choices like exercise and water. Bottom line is: don't go cold turkey. That typically leads to relapses.

Is you good? need a hug? whoever around you suggested drinking during golf was probably some kind of alcoholic. I would think that golf is an easy first place to recognize the need to say no to drinking. don't be afraid to suck at golf, everybody does, even the pros :)
I think Americans worry about drinking (in moderation) too much - they idealise Europeans in so many ways and wine is a normal part of life around the Mediterranean life. Obviously the point being of moderation! I think it’s good to just test yourself if you feel that it’s getting too much or you feel a certain compulsion around it - just go a week, ten days, two weeks without and see how you handle it. If there’s casual social occasions, just find a casual excuse (just come back from vacation so taking it easy on the alcohol this week!). If there’s a big social occasion (eg close friend/family birthday), limit the drinking to that occasion and test how little you’re able to have. Once you’re able to reassure yourself that you have control and can stop at any point, then just ensure you’re always keeping yourself there. I’d generally steer clear of spirits/hard stuff - there’s realistically a limit to how much volume of liquid you can consume so keeping it to lower % options is best!
Wine doesn't make me feel good, more of a hard alcohol straight up or with sparkling water BUT my husband and I used to drink a lot. Then we had a kid. Heavy drinking days were done.
