Good video that. I've been past that platform a number of times on the via ferrata and it's hard to imagine jumping off! It makes my legs go a little funny just getting close to the edge. It's a VERY different thing to be seeing it on video versus being there for real and imagining actually stepping off!
@@ryanschiele I don't blame that other guy for being nervous by the way as I would be really scared if I didn't have via ferrata gear to attach me to the cable! It's scary how easily these wingsuit or basejumping flights can go wrong - a slip on the exit for example can be disastrous. Easily done when the weather is damp or there are leaves around, like in the video. Still, I'd love to try it, especially in the Lauterbrunnen valley. But it's quite a mountain to climb to get good enough to do wingsuit basejumping. You have to be a reasonably well experienced sky diver first.
@@Charles-xe2qh You know it. Even Steve told me that being on the platform without the "Penguin" suite would be more nerve racking than street clothes, which Jake and I were wearing. Also, there have been accidents due to slick platforms in Lauterbrunnen and other areas. Steve, as well as the group behind him, were all extremely prepared and had thorough inspections of all equipment prior to exiting the platform. There is definitely a risk/reward evaluation before any jump. I risked little by stepping on the platform and getting the shot (even though Steve's GoPro was the best) and I was trying not to poo myself. My reward was awesome. Watching Steve fly was one of the best days I remember. I'm jealous. If it was that awesome to watch... Imagine what it would be like to do it. Life is short and I'm a lucky son of a bitch.
Steve is a very accomplished flyer, and outdoor extreme sports athlete. Definitely practice for this guy, but a thrill for this "non flying" guy visiting Switzerland.
