  • So, this is a long one, feel free to fast forward through it :)
Some friends were suggesting that I only use Jealous Devil charcoal because I get it for free. So, i'm doing a series of videos proving that I love my JD because I feel its the best out there and I suggest you do the same!
Anyone can do this challenge. Make a video comparing any one of Jealous Devil's products against your brand and add the #JDChallenge hashtag to it!

Tried some cowboy lump today. Took a while to get it going properly. Has a chemical smell vs my normal charcoal B&B also as you showed the lump is is much smaller than most other brands. I only get little pieces like that at the very bottom of the bag. Cowboy is the cheapest lump available close to me. Im not impressed. I bought a couple bags to try and should have only got 1. The B&B gets plenty hot for me. I make Pizza on the kamado ,Joe every couple weeks. Ill have my local Ace Hardware order me in a few more bags of the B&B. The Jealous Devilis $24 a 20 lb bag and the B&B is $15 20 lb bag the Cowboy was $13 for 15lbs. I think you should have stuck the rebar under the lid to give more air.

thanks for sharing. I don't think it was the best idea to drop both charcoal at 8 minutes that's just about half the time they need to fully ignite.

Cool comparison, lots of reviews on Lowes about Cowboy not staying lit, crazy! Going to have to try JD one of these days.

Well Brother you didn't give the Cowboy long enough to really ignite but, I will say this. That Cowboy is not good stuff. Royal Oak too. Never had a lot of success with Royal Oak. Never used Cowboy but I've never heard great things about it. I've used a lot of Royal Oak and it is very hard to get going and keep going. If Cowboy is anything like that, no thanks.

Bought some JD and man, so far has been great huge pieces and nice long burns. This weekend I used some Kamado Joe lump and very comparable to JD. Huge pieces with no chemical taste and burned nice and long. Now that was just one cook, will be seeing how it does on a longer cook this weekend.

I use the Joe lump as well and I really love it. I love it with long cooks and with fast cooks like I did last night. Just threw on some hamburgers and it did great!

I agree. I just tried some Cowboy the other night on a cheap offset and it burned as hot as the sun. This guy is clearky biased.
