Thank you Lady Alice for sharing with us something that's not's only is an historic landmark but the inspiration of adventurous tales and lore that's captured the hearts of many.
It took me a while to watch this video but now I don’t know why I didn’t watch it sooner. It scratched that particular nerdy part of my brain. Thx Alice!
Great Vid. lady A! Entertaining and informative. Not at all adversely affected by your own bit of medieval costume display. You and the blue and on the greensward too. Nottingham tends to get forgotten slightly these days, despite all of the positives in its history and culture. More Please!
If you haven't seen it, check out Robin and Marian(1976). It has Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn in the title roles. It's loaded with an interesting cast and gives a somewhat different take on the legendary hero and his lady.
I actually have a picture of me and my brother in front of the Robin Hood statue because we went to Nottingham when he was trying to decide what university to go to
14:12 why don’t you start correcting this mistake, it’s supposed to be pronounced as Belvua castle and not Beaver castle, it’s a french word. Beaver was the unofficially elected pronounciation because people back then are terrible at saying french words and majority of the population are uneducated peasants.
@@Roy-gi5ul I believe you. Indeed it was pronounced Beaver because your ancestors can’t pronounce French words properly. But that doesn’t mean it’s the correct pronunciation just because it was in use for a long time.
@@JanBanJoovi-ol1qv- Out here, in the luscious green nowhere that is the Vale of Belvoir, we also have a whole range of words to describe the inane rantings of a somewhat damp & flatulent pedant. (You really should try to visit sometime : )

The tourist board should sponsor you! I'm thinking of travel to England in the next six months and now Nottingham is on the itinerary!

What are the duties and privileges of the Sheriff's Lady?
Another MEAD fan!!!
Nottingham locals pronounce the word Castle as 'Cassel' not 'Carcel.'
I work on it doing to revamp
It doesn't look like a castle, because its a ducal palace.
IT NEEDS TO GET THE FLAG BACK UP LOOKS SAD WITH A BIG FLAG POLE WITH NO FLAG ON IT WONDER Y
The original flagpole was condemned. I don't know if it's been replaced yet or not.

Believe me, as a local inhabitant, it IS pronounced "Beaver", regardless of its Norman origins!
