Mark, what a way to spend a wet Sunday here in the UK,. the morning wood butchering and sawdust creation, then then two glorious hours watching your journey so far, with a break for Sunday lunch. Now with that complete, its time to sit back and shout at the Rugby World Cup games for the rest of the evening........what a day!!!!!
On a serious note, it was your mantra "of just get started", that kicked into action, and from your channel, i found Jespers. You are both inspirational to the likes of me, and many others.

Atleast you get to watch the RWC at a reasonable hour. Here in Australia, typically the games are at 1:45am or 5:00am. Many years ago my oldest son (born in AU and I hadn't yet got AU citizenship) where watching the Bledisloe Cup (All Blacks v Wallabies) and at the the end of the game when the ABs won, he yelled "yeah, my team won!" to which I responded "sorry Chaska, your team lost, my team won".

1:28:37 FOUND IT! ---> "Ratcheting Table Clamps Straightening Jig". Love this design!!! I HAVE some of these kicking around and am making one of these today! Straightening takes soooo long using "twist off" style clamps and backing support blocks etc. I went hunting on your channel to find a build of this style but couldn't find it. At least I have a few seconds of the design shown here and have screen-capped it in my mind. When I watched this the 1st time i seen this jig but didn't realize until I watched it the 2nd time that it's basically a "mock T-Track" using angle cuts to hold the clamp AND the board in place...Great stuff!! Simple... and I'll be making a similar but a bit different design. Thanks for posting all your inspirational videos!

I was using a jig that was almost 6' long and had 5 homemade twist clamps and I was constantly needing to place little support pieces under the back side of each twist down... what a relief this thing is. It works a treat! So glad I made one! New one is 4' and I put 3 Ratcheting table clamps on it. A lot easier to manage since it's shorter/lighter too. Just awesome! Thx again.

I really enjoyed this advice. Thankyou. I've had an interest in wood and epoxy for a few years now but had a lot of self doubt. After this past year, I've decided to finally give it a go and make some art, furniture and such once I am out of this bad situation. Love the comedy aswell, you Aussies always make me laugh at a Brit 🤣🤣 subscribed and hit the bell 😊

Thanks for the inspiration. Drove past some pallets stacked against a skip, checked with the builder they were being thrown out, and came with 3 large mahogany corner window cills that the squirrel in me couldn't resist.
This is going to get me started..! When the rain stops. 👍

Totally agree with the lathe comment. You can often pick up a basic lathe with a few tools for under $200. A good way to try it and see if yo7 like it before you spend big bucks.

Hi Mark - What a pleasant surprise stumbling upon your video while searching for wood staining tutorials! Initially, I mistakenly assumed it was just a 20-minute video, but after indulging in 2 beers and devouring 12 delectable Wagyu meatballs, I found myself engrossed in the full 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 37 seconds of your content.
Your mantra, "Be Excellent to each other," really resonates with me. I absolutely admire every aspect of your video, from your witty, dry dad sense of humor to your efficient use of resources.
I'm a big fan of my tools, and I've also hopped on the Dewalt power tool bandwagon, attracted by their fantastic redemption offers. Contrary to what some may say, I've found them to be exceptional tools, offering great value for the money. While I generally follow the "buy once, cry once" philosophy, I must admit that it has been quite beneficial in completing my projects.
Next on my tool shopping list is pneumatic de-nailer
I can imagine you've probably accumulated a fair share of nails over time. Have you ever considered selling them to a scrap metal dealer for some extra cash, or perhaps melting them down to create something creatively unique?
The part of your video that delves into the pallet treatment process and the chemicals employed has provided me with invaluable insights.
A truly heartwarming way to conclude the video, showcasing a wonderful father and family bonding woodworking session. I absolutely adore it.
What a perfect way to wrap up the video, highlighting a heartwarming father and family bonding woodworking session. I absolutely love it. Although my son is only 4 years old, I can't wait for the day when we can enjoy such moments together.
Here in Western Australia (and even in Melbourne, although regrettably none in Queensland), we're lucky to have an incredible woodworking store called Timbercon. Maybe it's worth reaching out to them for a potential sponsored collaboration or deal.
As a final thought, it's clear we have a lot in common with our "be good and do good" motto. I'm also a frequent shopper at Bunnings, and I have a tip for you to save a little extra: consider registering for an ABN to apply for a Bunnings trade cash account. Once approved, you can cancel the ABN, and you'll save around 5-10% on most items.
Your video has genuinely inspired me, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude. Thank you for the incredible content!
    Ethan Le.

PS. Apologies for the long winded comment - it only suited a long video pairs with a long comment.

I'm 40 now and want to work for myself while investing in myself as I go. It'll take time but thanks to good ol boys such as yourself and jesper among others have inspired me to get back into it. I actually started out by making smaller, simpler items like jewelry boxes. Ppl loved them so I started a business.I also pick up pallets and repurpose the wood along with wood from old barns, fences, houses, etc. that have been torn down or I find falling apart. I started about a year ago, but woodworking has been my dream for probably 10 or 15 years. Slowly, but surely, I've acquired more and more tools. I started with a chop saw, 3 foot band saw, and a sander. I finally got a table saw and a (tiny) router table for $100 (together which was a great find) about 2 months ago. Routing table was missing a leg (I made a new one) but came with a Dewalt router and the table saw needed a blade (I bought one). I'm just now moving into making tables since I finally bought me an electric hand planer. My next tool... A 13" thickness planer! I can't wait! Lol thanks for making this video, it's been really helpful 🙏🏻🪵🪓

Also you make amazing furniture from those pallets. In BC Canada most of our pallets are from really poor quality wood. Sometimes I find oak ones but most often they are heavily painted in blue paint that’s into the grains of the wood very deep.

I made a stand with reclaimed pine and oak, and a lamp with some pipe, with a little bit of copperwork to accent it. I'll post some photos when I get a lampshade, and take some decent photos.
