    Love this video. One thing not really mentioned / kind of skipped over is that the little ball of clay under the figure doubles as both a way to keep the figure up and also a pouring spout for your resin! From what I heard a good rule of thumb for placing this spout (smaller vents are also called a sprue) is to put it in a spot people wouldnt notice like where the figure touches the ground or the back of the figure. Here the fig is facing forward and you dont really see the back, so the pour spout is in a great spot while keeping the figure level enough to pour your resin in without bubbles or gaps. Try to position your model in a way where gravity will hit the detailed spots most and any issues that could come up will hit places like feet or under legs, that you can easily clean up. Remember that having overspill or two much material is way better than not having enough/ big gaps in your pour.

      thank you for your comment! the back of the figure is flat as it is designed to stand against the wall so it's very easy to sand it down, the pouring hole is big enough for this figure with no overhang so no vents required.

      Definitely this! I didn't want to do the two-piece mold route so this helps me skip a couple steps with the clay.

      you can , with paint that can stick to plastic, or a coat of primer before coloring

      gotta make sure how much you can pour/mix (thickness) the resin you are using to avoid overheating

      you can paint directly on it , if you are making something with high gloss, you can sand it with sand paper, then paint it with acrylic then add another layer of epoxy resin to return the high gloss

      not really, depends on the surface that you work with. epoxy and silicone does not require releasing agent

      different brand has different ratio, stick to the instruction on your product

      easy way is to use a pressure chamber
      do not shake before you use epoxy resin

    Hello! Great video with simple and clear instructions on how to make a mold. Just a few questions, are the AB mold maker and the epoxy resin toxic? do you have to wear a mask or glove to do that? and when cast with the epoxy resin, how do you get rid of the hold/space created by the polymer clay?       hardener of epoxy resin can be harmful, however once it is fully cured, it is non toxic

    I have a question: the figure in the video is well rounded but does anyone know if you have to use different techniques for figures with spikes or edges such as a miniature fish or crocodile? I imagine removing that from the mold might be more difficult without damaging it. Thank you in advance!

    so I have a bunch of Gijoe figures I want to cast with multiple points of articulation. they have o-rings in the middle and T-hooks. do I have to mold each piece seperately?

      you can use any other medium such as rtv silicone , hot glue etc. just to prevent leakage
