I remember seeing cattle turned lose into the beet fields after harvesting. There all ways was a couple of men in the field with the cattle carrying hoses if a cow had a stuck beet top in its gullet they would use the hoses to remedy the situation.Years back this was normal to see.As usual Dan has produced a excellent video,Kudos to Dan.
When my dad used to grow beets for feed, we always made sure to top them really good, and we made silage of the topping even though the juice of the toppings is very corrosive, the cows loved it. Leaving any topping on the beets will speed up the rotting in the stacks real fast, so that was a complete no go in our operation back then.
Great video dan, pity about the Southwick solar farm in the background, you can't eat electric!! Great looking crop, if you leave a strip up the middle but drill the headlands will you not have to ride on beet to get to it with cultivator?
Cleaner than I've seen a self propelled doing last week. Why don't you make up a bracket for the control boxes like tje beet harvester, wagon and baler? Make it a lot more ergonomic?
@@CowfarmerDan on my 5455 there are 3 bolts under where your box is resting? Dealer has a template makes up a bracket that comes up few inches and a plate welded to it that you can attach however you want. I don't know how to send a photo in comments tho?
what variety ? you are lucky to have lovely stone free soil so that you can use a harvester that does not pull by the leaves ..... frosty here since mid week so no beet being harvested .......the leaves will be well beaten when the thaw comes .......
Another excellent video from CFD to feed my "inner farmer". Thank you

Great you got it done Dan ahead of the frost. Well done man💪💪👍👍
Always enjoy the beet harvest and watching the cows gobble them up when you feed them!

Yes, some will get damaged but not many.

There's no mounting holes like there was in older tractors.

That's a fuse box on these tractors.
You were right A LOT of frost !
Good video Dan 👍 like the fact that for me your system is kinda traditional an why fix it if it ain't broke 🤔👌👌
I much prefer the greenery in your field to the eyesore next door..... then again it could be filled with Don Quiote windmills.
Or houses!
what variety ?

Love eating beet roar get the knife out cut middle see how sweet better spouts
as for them still growing after cut probabley the mild weather natures a weird mistress
its ashame you cant train the wing mirror on to the cutter head
You could, but you need to watch the lifting wheels rather than the pre topper.
