Had to piss really bad at the start so I had to go fast
The teleporting is called the "zip glitch" where we have to time a frame/duration perfect walk input near the end of a guard animation. We believe that something about the walk animation or the walk-to-idle transition animation overlapping with the end of the guard animation loop breaks velocity calculation and causes it to be extremely high for a single frame. Maliketh, Godfrey phase 1, and Elden Beast all die because we do a megazip (inputting 2 walk inputs instead of 1) which teleports us much farther away than a normal zip. We teleport so far away that the boss arenas despawn and the bosses fall to their death.

They're not that hard though... even without sleep pots. Got them first try without going beneath half health on my DLC playthrough (no sleep!)

Step 5- die to godfrey
Step 6- become elden lord

I had my volume super high and jumped out my chair when you started celebrating and when I hit the floor I accidentally wrong way warped and now I’m in crumbling farum.
I haven't watched ER speedruns in a few months and seeing the new tricks that have been discovered since then is impressive. That tumble thing to skip the chest opening animation at four belfries and attacking a wall to skip the landing animation at 1:30 are both pretty sick

It's easy to understand, and 0 effort. The only one who puts effort in is the one who discovers the glitches which he did not, he didn't even discover the placement of where to use the glitches. He just mimic someone else's world run and did it seconds faster...

@@yourerightdawg Any% means that you can finish the game at any point. Unrestricted then means that you're not confined to only using fair ways, you use whatever means necessary (and in this regard, glitches) to finish the game quickly.
@@USMC816 Bruh I assure you, you could try to do the zip glitch for a week straight and you wouldn't get it a single time, let alone usefully. You have no idea what you're talking about and you should realize that and just shut up.
This is still so stupid and I love it. The fact that such a broken glitch could be discovered and refined down to near perfection is just incredible to be. What an awesome community we have that can discover such things hidden within these games and congrats on holding the WR so tightly for so long.

comparing this to the TAS run, it's mind blowing that you're able to perform these zips so consistently by hand and using visual referents. amazing, well deserved WR.
beat the last record by a second just two weeks later. I remember when the game frist came out, the record was getting cut in half with almost every week that passed. Now its looking like this is around where the record will remain, but who knows, maybe more glitches will be found to make it sub 3 minutes

I remember taking a look at the speedruns a couple months after it came out and was surprised the speedrun was almost dead with this glitch. Good job. You probably will hold this forever. Im also surprised by the amount of people who havent heard of speed running. This glitch is not easy. Just watching run attempts will show you

To be honest this is way harder than actually beating the game. Im pretty sure i will nees more hours to digure out how to do it than actually killing the bosses needed. Impressive sub 4 min run

Hi, could you please explain to me what exactly happened at the end? It was Godfrey, scene missing, the end. How is it that you weren't required to deal with Radagon/Elden Beast?
We zip so far away that the area unloads and the bosses don't so they fall to their death. So Elden Beast is loaded in and so is Godfrey, Godfrey dies first and so that triggers his phase 2 and saves us from fall death. Then Elden Beast falls to its' death soon after. And even if we die after killing Elden Beast, we'll still spawn by Marika.
I didn't know the game got down this far in time lol. Under 4 minutes!!! Amazing work, GGs.

Great job! Is this the latest patch or are you running an older one?
This is on 1.04. There are supposedly performance boosts since 1.02, however in 1.05 they made it so swinging mid-air doesn't delay your fall death anymore. So 1.04 is the best patch to run on.

I like how you beat the final boss in the second to last boss and I don't understand it at all.
I also like how you have to have perfect performance yet it looks like you have poor performance cause nothing is loading.
The explanation is that the Elden Beast spawns into the game when he zips to the Erdtree at 4:41. Then when he zips again, he travels so far away that the level despawns - the ground, terrain, etc, are all unloaded. However, the bosses don't despawn, so both Godfrey and the Elden Beast start falling into nothingness and die. When Godfrey dies, he's teleported back to fight Hoarah Loux. Then Elden Beast dies a few seconds later, causing him to be teleported to the ending location.

congrats on the run man, quick question though, with the current route, whats the best possible time? i.e. getting every zip perfect first try would the time be able to go down into 2 mins?
With these zips it would probably be around 3:20, there is a quicker zip to get to the academy and to the belfries but it's a pretty precise lineup so that could knock about 5 seconds more off if done very quickly.

How did they discover all these glitches, speed runners never cease to amaze me.
some glitches happen random and then speedrunners try to repicate these random clitches and try to optimize them to use efficiently in a run, resulting in even more interesting strategies and shortcuts
Someone originally posted a clip blocking and randomly walking around and they accidentally zipped. So speedrunners did a ton of testing and now we figured out exactly how to replicate it 👍

what is the difference between normal and unrestricted any%?
Normal Any% doesn't allow for zip glitches or force quits (used for the wrong warp)

What is the weird metronome for? I’ve never seen anyone glitch through Elden ring like this, it’s crazy. Is this only possible on pc?
Yes and yes. It's probably something to do with how keyboard keys are not analogue movement input but are either pressed 100% or not at all. The metronome is for timing, the how-to is documented on speedsouls.
-Hold the walk (Alt) button while performing the zip.
-Begin by pressing block (right mouse button) for 126 frames.
-Then, while continuing to hold block, press W for 7 frames.
-Do not release walk or block until after the zip.

I believe the glitch exist, I’m not trying to discredit this at all this is actually amazing ! What I’m trying to figure out is that, how is it possible I never heard of this before the speed run. Yes, it has to be specific frame with two inputs but still, I would think there should be more posts about this glitch on the internet from ppl who accidentally done this in their whole game? Can someone explain please? Or was it a common glitch and posts about it just evaded me?? I’m so confused lol
the reasons there’s not a ton of talk about it is because it’s incredibly difficult to perform consistently and requires perfect timing and positioning to complete, that’s why even the world record runs fail the glitch a few times in their runs.

What a lucky run! Its crazy how far the zip has been pushed. Not sure how i feel about the use of the metronome but otherwise this was a phenomenal any% time. Wish you were a bit more vocal though the silence kills me.
Yea I usually stream my speedruns and talk, but these runs are not good to do for streams imo since your finger gets tired after a couple hours and the timing becomes less consistent. Better to do them in short 2 hour sessions.

Is that teleporter to farum azula a glitch?
The teleporter itself is not, that's intended to put you on an unreachable part of farum that you can't get off of. However we use the wrong warp glitch by force quitting the game after using memory of grace, and that allows us to teleport to the default location of whatever area we're in. So that lets me get to the start of farum.

It's a metronome to help time the zip glitch, W needs to be pressed at a certain point in the guarding animation so the metronome helps a lot.
