SpeedRunners - 213 mechanics/techniques/tricks/glitches

- Disclaimer:
This video's main purpose is not to teach you new tricks, although it includes short instructions for some of these tricks in case someone really wants to learn them. Instead it's just there to document and give a (hopefully) complete overview of all known tricks and glitches, which includes a lot useless but still interesting things too.
Also keep in mind that some of these namings might be inaccurate and that I had to make up a lot of these names myself.
Further notes:
This video has been in the making for a very long time now and I'm glad that it's finally finished now! While I can't say for sure that it really contains every little known thing in the game (I must have missed some things for sure), I can say that this is by far the most extensive collection out there.
This video contains a lot of different clips (almost 400), which I gathered from various Discord servers, TH-cam, people sending me, my TASes or created them myself. Thanks to all the people that provided these clips.
Also thanks to all the people that helped in the process of making this video by correcting minor errors and listing things I should add to the video.
All the things listed in this video can be classified into one (or more) of three different categories:
-core-mechanic
-technique / trick
-glitch
For the purpose of this video I defined them in the following way:
core-mechanic:
A core-mechanic is any single action the player can do ingame that is directly built into the game and intended by the developers. This includes jumping, grappling and sliding for example. I omitted most core-mechanics as they should already be well-known to most beginners and I felt that adding them wouldn't add any value.
technique / trick:
A technique or trick is any action or sequence of actions the player can do, possibly in a specific situation, that is not a core-mechanic and can be used to their advantage. A technique is often times a combination of multiple core-mechanics and/or exploits certain aspects of the game's physics and/or glitches. A technique will in most cases not be intended by the developers but they don't necessarily have to be a glitch (e.g. spam grappling). In order to further distinguish a technique from a strat, a technique should not require the map to be built in a very specific way and therefore be more universally applicable than strats which are mostly bound to only a single map.
glitch:
A glitch is an oversight in the game's code or design, causing unwanted behavior to be possible. Most glitches presented here do not have any use and are just added for the sake of completeness.
Note that some things might be a technique/trick and glitch at the same time.
I haven't actually provided any classification for the things presented in the video but it should be possible. Except for splitting everything up into 4 levels, I also haven't really put these things into any order.
These 4 levels are mostly based off of how well known a specific thing is, but they might also relate to how weird/obscure it is (which is pretty much subjective). - เกม

19:57 a what jump?! fr tho i think you covered everything, great vid
Thank you very much for this!! Such a great insightful video! I have a few more that I want to point out (that I'm sure you know but maybe a newer player wouldn't):
- Double jumping after a boost/tunnel: I had no idea you were supposed to start the jump while you're inside the tunnel to get the double jump, otherwise if you wait until you're out then you only get one jump (like in Factory and Swift Peaks)
- When on a wall, if you're too low on the sticky/climbing area you only get one jump and it's annoying (like for example in the first section in blood box)
- Sliding can affect your position and hitbox: if you slide you can put boxes and bombs in areas higher than usual, and for example some slopes you can't hit normally when sliding like in Dash the Night
- Turning around can help you slow down and hit certain slopes better
Again I know you already know all of these, just pointing them out for new players since I myself would have loved to have someone teach me all these little tricks when starting out.
Thanks again for the amazing content!!
To this day I couldn't figure out the double jump on factory lol, thanks
Where was this video 5 years ago😭😭
oh wow makes me want to play again..
Thx for this video 🙏 I always wanted a video like this
crazy that very festive found all of these
Great vid 👍
a lot of these are so hard to master and use effectively, crazy how many techniques there are that literally give you super speed. I guess a lot of time in single player would help.
name a more iconic duo than rbit 1 and rbit 2
me n u
😏
35:14 thank you for reminding me of that
you explained everything all thats left is just practice Im sure one day you will do all the tactics of all the maps // desnamed and colgate toothpaste can pass through walls with alt enter weird glitch maybe you can also work on it too
god's work
magnificent
very nice
seeing this after loosing 5 compi in a row even tho you told me to watch this on my first day.
holy basedness
Did it faster than my "Gym" map. Nice
holy smokes
To all the new players keep it up
Is there a guide for all of these? Also any maps you recommend to learn these?
This video is amazing! I've learned so many new techniques! The only thing I am having trouble to implement is the uncapped frame glitch/ trick, due to the new steam interface. The highest FPS I can get (using +framelimit launch option) is 300 FPS. Would you mind explaining me how did you uncap the framerate?
it was just a rare glitch, noone really knows how that could happen. You can uncap it with mods but i wont explain how
Thx for the reply
50:47 at this moment u were with the speed showing above u at that time (i guess its that) how do u enable that?
❤❤
omg! gj.
THE GHOST SAID tbh, HAHA! NOOB 42:45
Do you think playing on kbm or controller is better? Would there be a skill gap between two at the same playing level, just because of the different input styles?
tryna find out how to do the smileywalk
i know this vid wasn't intended to be a tutorial but would you mind explaining me how to spike ladder / spike climb
your goal is to get as close as possible to the spikes, while also sliding and moving downwards. Then as soon as you start moving downwards you unslide and hit the spikes. Timing is not that easy but I think easiest is to quickly double jump and hold slide, and always wait until you start moving downwards
@@rbit-sr Thank you so much!
i need good controls for the game, if someone can give me any set of controls they use that would be awesome
im doing the spam grapple idk the motion the
but how tf did you find all this
How you I rg multiple times in a row I’m using controller
ctrl + j chat bug
i cant do spam grapple i always hit the ceiling its so annoying
how can i do spam grapple without ascending
one twho thee four
five
whats the difference between a bad surf and a wipeout???
whipeout you fly over but bad surf you stick. In both cases no speed boost
@@rbit-srthx
@rbit-sr also, what's the difference between fast grappling and grapple climb? (the one on resort)
@Noobway_aka_likarmi grapple climb is really just what it looks like, you grapple and then immediately release, and then press jump to not drop down and go up. It's really just to build some height. Fast grapples are a little different though, they shoot you forward with a good amount of speed and you can even build a more speed by chaining them. They are mostly used to build some height, while also building some speed and covering some distance, they are really versatile. The trick for fast grapples is to start pressing jump right before the grapple connects instead of afterwards
