So, slowly losing his mind and sanity, he wants to be with Ortensia, and no longer wants to suffer being alone without her.
Where were they mad at him? I didn't see them being mad at him at all. They were horrified because he tried shooting himself.... who the hell is gonna see that with no emotion? Even if they did know his back story, they'd still be horrified by him shooting himself.
