Aw as sorry as I feel for my poor baby Harry I must say I'm proud of Ste for the first time in years. His speeches to Harry and to Tegan in the previous episode show that he's finally trying to figure himself out after so many mistakes including not thinking of others feelings and thinking he's in love when he's not. When Ste takes the time to truly sort out his feelings (something he almost never does) and realises what he feels for Harry is indeed true love, we'll know it's the real thing, which is actually so rare for Ste despite his constant bed-hopping. We'll know his love for Harry is the real deal, unlike Ryan, Sinead and I'd say John Paul as well. Two good episodes in a row was more than Hollyoaks could master, I suppose? Sad, cause I would have loved to have followed the escape drive minute for minute, rather than suddenly see Ryan and Farrah walking around God only knows where. This could have been a great episode, with suspense and drama in droves, if we had followed Ryan and Farrah in one car, D.S. Cassidy and her colleagues following it, plus Grace inside Hollyoaks village - and Ste Harry and the kids in the woods. But instead of Ste and Harry having that row, the ring should accidentally fall out of the backpack at some point (maybe when the tent popped up) and be found by either Leah or Lucas later. They, believing they had found a treasure they could keep, rushed to Ste to show him. And when Harry noticed what ring they had found, didn`t dare explain it`s presence, but instead pretended not to know how it had gotten there. Leah and Lucas, keen to know what their new treasure was worth, wanted to go to a jeweler to find out the value - and since Ste preferred that option to camping, off they went; all 4 of them. Leaving the same area Ryan and Farrah entered soon after, he leading her on a wild goose chase. In the car, Ste notices - Harry is driving - that the name of the jeweler is engraved in the box with the ring, so they should go there to learn if they could find out who the ring belongs to. Neither the kids, nor Harry, think that to be a good idea. But after Ste tells the kids there might be a finder`s fee in it for them if they find the owner, they are wholeheartedly supportive of the idea. Harry crosses his fingers the shop will not release the names of their customers. But when they get to jeweler`s Harry discovers it is the same sales person who sold him the ring who is attending. Harry is being recognized, and greeted with: "The proposal went well, I see. Congratulations! As I said when you were last here, we can adjust the ring to a perfect fit in a snap." When realizing what he just heard, Ste turns to Harry with a shocked look, and when Harry admits the ring was his and the camping trip arranged to have a special setting for the event - and Ste sees how happy his kids are, and not to embarrass Harry in front of the shop assistant - Ste says yes. When they get back to the where they parked their car when going camping, there is police cars there and the path leading towards their little camp is blocked. When Roxy spots them, she immediately rushes towards them, demanding to know what they are doing there. Which alert both Ste and Harry that the gathering of police have to have something to do with Ryan. Has Kim been found? But when Ste, from Roxy`s radio, learns that the snipers are in place, but so far have not seen the escaped serial killer suspect, he gets so worried about what could happen to Ryan, he storms into the forrest. Harry immediately follows him to stop him, leaving Roxy - who first doesn`t notice what happens cause she is too busy listening to the radio message - to the not very easy task of preventing Leah and Lucas from running after their father and Harry. And that is how this first episode in the drama should have ended. Ste finding the ring, and the quarrel that caused, just put down the mood and temperature of this entire episode, as I see it. And worse, stole air time which better could have been used to show what Roxy and her colleagues where doing trying to protect Farrah. What we had of that type of scenes were mostly feed lines or repetitions - the police wondering about what we, the viewers, already knew from the previous episode: that Ryan knew Farrah was being assisted by the police.
I feel so bad for Harry. I wish everything could go back to the way it was. I miss Starry soooo much
