Doug's web site has been down too long. How are we supposed to know if he sold his barge or not? I completely understand all that Doug says. Would it make Sorrentino's The Great Beauty a better experience in MAGI? So, what we need to talk about is the shutter. What effect does the shutter have on us that helps bring the texture of a film into our cells in such an inviting way? We certainly get how not using it gives us The Hobbit, etc., but we're not talking about what it does.

Met Doug in San Francisco at our Kabucki Theater. Got his biz card. Gave him mine, which was a card for my short noir, Bum Rap. Asked him about the feasibility of him getting together with James Cameron and Ridley Scott make a book of illustrations of their work. A big fat Taschen book. Doug's increased frame rate was not really economically workable with film. With HD it is easily done and economically viable.
