I mentioned Reagan because, before he became Governor of California, Tuition in public Universities in California was free for California Residents and that is a big, BIG reason why California emerged as one of the most powerful economies in the world (even if it's just California, not the rest of the USA, compared with other countries). The numbers have been slipping a bit - much like great jobs for people with only a high school education began exiting the country under Reaganomics. It's a major reason for wage stagnation.

Those people have a mechanism to dismiss those debts. It is called "bankruptcy". Students cannot get their debt forgiven in that manner. I am not against forgiving debt, but Biden would have very little power to forgive those loans.

It’s perplexing to me how Israel is often labeled a democracy. Democracy, in its essence, embodies respect for human rights, freedom of expression, and equal political rights for all citizens, including the right to vote and to stand for election. Yet, when a country systematically displaces its inhabitants and denies them their political rights, it’s challenging to see how such a country could be classified as a full-fledged democracy.
Moreover, in the United States, the influence of groups like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in shaping U.S. policy toward Israel is significant. This influence has the potential to skew American foreign policy and undermine democratic processes.
I find it deeply troubling that what appears to be a systematic expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland is happening. This displacement, which some might argue borders on genocide, is a grave violation of human rights. It’s crucial that we raise awareness about this issue and advocate for justice and equality for all people in the region. We must not remain silent in the face of such injustices. We must stand up for the principles of democracy and human rights, no matter where we are in the world.

It should be illegal too apply minimum payments to any loan to interest first. The payments should all go toward paying down the principal first.
This would stop the phenomenon of people being unable to make a dent in their debt. The lenders would not only get their principal back, but they would still have their interest paid, just on the back end, instead of up front.

I'm an Australian living in Hong Kong, it baffles, saddens and angers me that the US, UK and Australia were so quick to condemn and take action against Hong Kong over the 2019 riots yet stays silent and impotent on Gaza.
I am as free in Hong Kong as I am if I were living in Australia. The only time I ever felt my freedoms were threatened was from the rioters, not from the HK police or the government. The rioters would bully and beat up anyone that spoke out against their violence. YET, the HK government and HK police were sanctioned and banned from purchasing tear gas.
So you can see why it's unbelievable to me that there has been no action taken against Israel.
