Terrific video Nick, brought back happy memories of Colonsay. Such a lovely antidote to the top heavy 'adventure' brigade. Simple is best, many of us are coming to that way of biking/touring - power to your elbow - the Cub outrageously shows whats possible. Good travels pal
I had never thought of the Honda Super cub as an adventure bike - how wrong could I be? Brilliantly put together video, totally inspiring! Thank you Nick.
Brilliant trip Nick. The original go anywhere vehicle. I was laughing at your wry smile when the alarm clock went off at 5am. Millions of men have the same feeling if they are getting up for golf fishing football motorcycling or whatever our hobby might be. Love it 👍
Ye, thanks for your comments. I'm not a morning person, but when I'm about to get on my bike, regardless the time, it puts a smile on my face, LOL. Cheers
Thanks for watching and your comments. Japanese makes the best reliable bikes ever, and with the Honda Cub, you get more smiles per miles 😁. Many thanks, safe riding.
This is just brilliant! So well put together, with awesome photography and filming! Please do more adventures like this. Love the music too. Currently got a CBF600 and really thinking about swapping for a Supercub. I used to go everywhere on and off road on my old 125 and miss that.
Yep! I've had lots of bikes but look back on my c90 days with a smile. I'm tempted to get the ct125 which is like a trail version. Have a look at a channel called Kiwi media those lads have great expeditions on .old c90s including a trip to Morocco which is hilarious.
Ayup lad, I have just watched your video, it is over 40 years, since I did a road trip, on my old trusty, Honda 175, it seems like yesterday, well done, for championing, a great bike, it just goes to show, biggest is not always best, thank you, fray toth'er side of border, for a very inspiring, get up and go, video, keep smiling😊and happy days.
Thank you for sharing an especially beautiful part of the world with us. I am waiting for delivery of my new 2023 Honda Super Cub, in Colorado. I will learn how to camp with it ,travel on it, and many other things.
I don't know , but I'm sure I know who he is and where he stays, it's such a small island it's not hard to work out . Your Italian friend who has the c90 was my old bike, I recognized the reg plate on your video and unknow to him, that c90 has been round Scotland more times than we have prime ministers in the last 5 years, many thanks, happy riding, and say Hi to my lovely old C90, it should out live me, lol.
Well put together.very enjoyable to watch, done lot of sailing and motorcycling around where You have shown including visit to oronsay across to sea bed at tide out time, there is a scull and bones interned in wall of building with glass panel to see,was discovered many moons ago.just want to drop my unrliable250 and go buy c125 for good adventures!
Cubs are brilliant for the roads in Scotland small and light they can squeeze past oncoming traffic on single track roads and still gets 120mpg fully loaded, I used mine for a trip in June with Applecross pass a real doddle, no problems with the hairpins on such a light bike. Back again in 2023 to do Dunnet Head and Ardnamurchan Point as part of a four extreme points of mainland UK tour of the UK, camping again but on sites on my Rebel 1100 so no nipping past I'll have to wait like the other bikes did in June and only about 45mpg so a big difference. After watching your vid of I think I might start planning for 2024 those islands look ideal for the cub again wild camping.
Thanks for your reply. Ive taken the Cub to many of these places in Scotland and its a great bike for this country, you take more in and enjoy the ride, and will adventure into areas more than you would with a biker bike. Thanks, hope you have a great adventure in 2023.
That was different, very nice scenery and you lucked out with the weather. The wee Super Cubs look great, hope they last as long as the original model. I live not far from you. 👍
Thanks for your comment Irishrover, Yes weather was fab, midges not so good. I also had the original Honda C90 but I do like the smother engine, fuel injector, and tubeless tires, maybe not the new price ,fingers crossed it's all been good so far. I see you're on a Honda CB500X, I've just sold mine this year, only had it for year but I have to many bikes, I had to free up some space, but if I had to pick one bike that done it all, it would probably be the CB500X, great value all round. Cheers.
I have owned my CB500X since 2013, bought it from Honda when they had a dealership in Grangemouth, it has been a great bike. Some of my relatives in Ireland still have the original Honda C90, at onetime, evey household had one. They used to have an annual Cub run, I have only been out on one. Cheers mate. 👍☘️
Wonderful video. Really sets a mood. Seems that little Honda is up for anything. Just picked up a KLX230 myself, to do the same type of thing. And OBAN, a wonderful scotch, if you’re into that sort of thing. Thanks
What a great trip. Good video work and choice of music. You can do a lot on a small bike. Hassle free motorcycling. Pretty island. I would love to do it but Canada is a bit far away.
Wow beautiful trip so well documented just got a super cub here in Arizona USA had 2 c90s in uk 16 years ago loved them too! Fantastic scenery! New subscriber here
Great video! Thanks for sharing. While probably nowhere near as popular, I’d be interested in a clip on the gear you’re carrying and how you load it. Thanks again.
The answer to all the emissions arguments. Owned 50,70,90 and 125. I would like tubeless and a belt. Too old to camp now with skeletal issues. Great to be shown what was always available just unknown
Hmmm, I love the scenery and I know because I have been to all those places but to be honest I was expecting to hear something about the cub 125, that's what I watched it for.
Scotland is full of great adventure if you make an effort I have a flat on wheels so make the most of it, along with the love of my life he has four paws and a tail
Great scenery and lovely photographs. Did you suffer any fuel anxiety. I have an early C90 which has a larger tank but I guess the economy isn’t as good as this one. I think I might still buy a Super Cub one day as 60 cruising is a lot better than 45. It also looks like you have a seat pad ?
Hi Jonathan, I got fuel at Oban before going on the ferry and I also carry a fuel can that will also give me an extra 100 mile range. I would say 50mph cruise and 60 mph is ringing its neck, LOL. Seat pad give a bit more air circulation and stops you getting Monkey Butt.
Great video Nick thanks - Might be trading my Vespa in for a Honda Cub!! Happy New Year from NZ! p.s. really enjoyed the music , what were the tracks called?
Thanks for comments. Ye, Happy New Year to you also. Music: All from Epidemic Sound: Unbroken Spirit, Sunfish: The Shiny One, Big Girl: The Bayou, Tigerblood Jewel: Out of Glory, Trabant 33. Cheers
Hi Joey, Thanks for your comment. I ordered my Tyres from my local shop, Jim Alan, Falkirk. They are Continentals/ Conticity, not had any problems with them, seem quite good. Many Thanks, Happy Miles
I've currently got a Honda C70 with a 110cc engine in it. I find that its far too slow to do these sorts of distances - where I can only drive up to 50mph it feels unsafe. What sort of speed does your super cub do? Do you find that its enough to keep up with traffic in 60 zones?
Hi, I find when I'm on the cub I don't need to keep up with anyone, I go my own speed and enjoy the ride. I will cruse at 50mph for long distances, and if I need to get pass someone, I will try stretch it up to 60mph at a push. If you want to give it max power all the time you should manage to keep up with the traffic in 60 zones, but I wouldn't bother trying to keep up, just let everyone follow the Cub. LOL
Great video! A group of us took out original Cubs to Colonsay last year! Did you speak to Seamus, the lad who owns the Garelli? I made a video of our trip as well. Just look up "Cubs2Colonsay" on here
Love the scooter but the maintenance is anoying me now after 6months of owning one. Valves on mine seem to move abit ...too fiddly... soon got open it up do The Big Clean. Seems like every 3months got to get me hands dirty
I've serviced the bike, but not done the valves.......Yet. I do hate faff, but the more you work on your bike the easier and quicker it should become. I think most bikes are a bit of a pain when doing valve clearance.
It did cross my mind before I done the crossing, but when I got back over from where I started, I managed to find a water hose and wash the bike down , so all good.
Thanks for your comments.. You will remember your adventure for as long as you live, and I'm sure Wales on a Cub will top it off, lovely place to camp and ride on a Cub, and you probably won't get Midgie's , LOL.

Thanks Nic, hope your still catching mega BIG fish on your Yak, LOL
I have a 1969 Honda CM91 nice bike for our country roads.
Also have a wee bitty Yamaha TW 200... Both are simply the best small bikes ever.
Nice wee video. You can't beat the cub.. Took my c90 to southern germany a couple of years ago, much more fun than on a big bike.
Thanks, Julian, for your comments. Yes, your right, on a smaller bike you take more in and enjoy the trip more. Thanks

Just sublime Nick. I've just placed an order today for a Super Cub myself. Hopefully, I will be doing similar adventures!
