One day, there will be a movie scene where Nicholas Cage is at a hotel room watching these documentary videos on his Galaxy phone.....and the channel will blow up. Another great video! 🇺🇲👍

That’s an insanely incredible car. 550HP+ and 170mph+ are still respectable numbers in modern standards. This was a awesome video Tony

Yes I know it all too well. I was 16 when I bought my 67 gt500 1982, I knew about the super snake back then. I didn't know as much as I knew now. I didn't realize that the 428 in my car was a dealer replacement after the 428 blew up. Neither did the used car salesman who sold me the car. (Got it for a steal) I made it a priority to learn everything about the 67 mustang then, that's when I found out about the super snake. Too bad they only made the one.

I always thought the 427 should be in the mustang... They thought the 428 was the one that people could handle on the road.

I think it was a cost factor as well. The 427's were much expensive than the 428's.

I could be wrong, but could Ford have thought this car was too powerful for mass consumption? Although he's a polarizing figure now, Bill Cosby infamously joked about how the 427 Cobra Carroll Shelby gave him was too powerful to handle and he sold it I believe after one drive.

It came down to money unfortunately. The 427's were great engines but also expensive to build when compared to the 428 CJ block. That's why the 427 only shows up in limited numbers in the highest performance cars.

I used to have a model of that car. Carrol gave it to me himself. I totally butchered it trying to put it together. 🤣

That's very awesome. Not sure I would have ever lost that one regardless of build quality.

Awsome video! Great quality content! It would be good to see some more Mach1 content too.

Great video Tony, keep them coming! On another note, sad day tomorrow, time to put the Mach 1 into hibernation. 😢

Great video, Tony. Thee is another Mustang that sold for more then $3 million. The 1968 Dark Highland Green Fastback drive by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt.

Shelby did not call it a Super Snake, that was a name first used by the author of an article in the August 1967 edition of Drag Strip magazine. Also, Shelby American in fact built three 1967 GT500s with 427 side oilers, so besides No 544 as featured here, there are also Nos. 289 and 1947 (which was known by Shelby American as the “factory drag unit” … I’ve seen the original paperwork). All this can be verified by consulting the Shelby American Automobile Club’s registry for 1967 Shelby Mustangs. The factory drag unit is also featured in an online Motor Trend article which can be easily found.

@@teebird94 I was just yanking your chain. I'm not sure I would want to drive that beast with those skinny tires. It would be a handful. Get some rest brother. :)
