    Forever when steel beams are scratched, damaged, not use of best practices.
    My deck is free standing.
    I see rust forming.
    I wish my deck looked like what you show.
    Where is help for my deck?😢

    50% more? A 2x11x16’ is over $400!! That’s a little more than 50% guy.

      No shite! Even using smaller members, they are still bloody expensive. And for composite decks you still have to go 12” on center.

    Awesome, but it’s absurdly expensive. Wish I could do it

    Garbage, no matter how strong your steel is, your weak link is that bolted to wood.

    This is great product. Paper vapor barrier is Garbage though. Use zip system or weather logic.

    Hey Guys,
    Great video. My company custom fabricates interior and exterior railings for homes and we have a customer that is using the Fortress Steel Decking Structure with composite decking just like this project in your video. We have never installed on this product before, as we mostly fasten the railing down to wood/treated wood deck structure with normal structural screws. The thing we are trying to figure out now is how to fasten the deck railing to this Fortress Structure. What kind of railing ended up going on this deck and how did you tie it down/fasten it down to the composite and ultimately the steel fortress structure underneath? Any tips would be super helpful!

    Years ago (20th century) I welded up a wrap around (3 sided) deck using my crane truck and 45’ long I beams. I welded adjustable lollies as uprights for leveling maintenance also. Home owner covered it in cedar. It’s still going strong. Nothing wrong with a steel deck if you have the resources to pull it together.

    I was looking at the Evolution site and do not see posts and fittings called out in their documentation for a two story post like what you have installed to carry the roof load. Are those posts supplied by Fortress? Would love to see how the deck / beam is attached to those posts.

    1:03 Are these beams made from 2 channels interlocked together?

    • @jeffc5974
      @jeffc5974 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed that too. Channels don't usually have returns like that, though. Definitely two asymmetrical pieces connected together, though.

    well then this means that the roof over this life time deck will fall apart before this life time deck does , why not do the same on that , I'm sorry but nothing is forever because nobody lives for ever to find out ! I bet it was fun putting down the deck over steel joists . I know by using the proper materials such as a good pressure treated wood not from home depot that it will last yours and mine life time if properly installed and easier to work with

    • @johnpettitt
      @johnpettitt ปีที่แล้ว

      You cannot fairly compare steel with wood. The steel will outperform wood every time
