      @@TheStickCollectorI'm the kind of girl who definitely would love to create a language and world with my friends. I'm actually DMing a Tormenta20 campaign (a brazillian TTRPG) and I try as much as possible to make them worldbuild with me during the game, even though they prefer to just let me do everything by myself.

    Damn, this is some Brontë siblings-level childhood world building.
    Edit: I'm aware Tolkien is possibly a better analogy overall, given that you created a language for this world, but the fact that you started at 5 years old is so striking to me. The Brontës are literally the only other people I've heard about doing that.

    Interesting. Parts of it reminds me of a setting I'm working on: It's basically a group of small continents and large islands enclosed in an impenetrable dome. (Actually a sphere.) Nobody knows what's outside of it, but it's hypothesized that the dome is either meant to keep something from escaping or to keep something from getting inside. There are no plate tectonics or geological activity. There are volcanoes, but they are caused by something else. All people living in this world are the descendants of refugees who arrived from other worlds, and they've noticed that the place seems kinda artificial but don't know what to make of that. There's also a giant underground stone superstructure full of weird stuff, where time and space works differently. It predates all known civilizations. People use it as a somewhat risky way of traveling long distances faster.

    I thought of a way to eat the hole in the rock. If the monster spits out a rock that fills the hole, and then puts it in the hole, then the absence in space basically moved into the monster’s stomach. I could totally see how the monster wouldn’t realize this though, because the language wasn’t great with abstract concepts.
    Also, K Klein, this is a great world, it really piqued my interest, so please keep us updated (also, I want to know what’s happening with the Ghoul). Anyway, thanks for sharing with us this amazing project!

    This is incredibly intriguing. I also have a world I created when I was roughly five and which I steadily expanded upon, even after deciding that I was already too old to continue and I destroyed the planet by the means of the ancient ones awaking (which gave the story an ending point, but didnt stop me from expanding what happens before).
    And well, Ive also always wanted to write everything down, but it seems so overwhelming, especially since I'm missing roughly 500 years between the beginning of my world (earth colonizing a habitable planet after it begins to crumble due to the climate) and the time where I've truly fleshed out everything, from technology over politics to culture and individual people.
    Can you give me a recommendation how to best approach this?

    This is awesome, but is it just me or is the mythos basically Hinduism?
    Like, there's the trinity of "supreme souls" without definite forms; The Ghoul is basically Shiva, eschewing the rest of society and creation to live as a hermit and waiting to destroy the world (one of Shiva's epithets even translates to exactly "Lord Ghoul"). The God of Order is basically Vishnu, who is the embodiment of preservation and maintains stability in the world, makes several incarnations to achieve this, and floats around endlessly on the ocean on a circular island formed by a cobra's coils. The God of Chaos is basically Brahma, who creates the Seven Sages (Council of Barzûn), and with their help creates multiple races of creatures. The Lamentall are basically Devas, the Trektia are basically Yakshas, and Akrinogu ob-Altumârish is basically Vritra

    • @kklein
      @kklein  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I know pretty much nothing about Hinduism ngl, this comment has taught me more than the education system in the UK ever did, that's for sure. I mean uhhh I'll take your word for it, but these similarities are not intentional. This world is very informed by other fantasy such as Tolkien and Le Guin tho, and it's fully possible that they in turn were inspired by Hinduism in some way (I really havent looked into it that much, I know Tolkien was more of a Norse mythology guy and Le Guin was more into West Coast Native American mythology but people can take inspiration from multiple sources). I'll have to do some more research and see if Hinduism's mythos continues down the path that mine does, or if these similarities are ultimately just coincidences based on surface level descriptions of these beings on my part.
      Some instant details I can give, for instance, is that the Ghoul will not go on to destroy the world, that Akrinogu is so unimportant that it never appears in the mythos again, that the Elder Dragon will only ever come to create one race. idk tho
