"Let's get on with the quiz now, the viewers are bored" - lampshading that no one really likes the sing-along sections when they either don't have the rights or can't play a sample of a song because of where it falls in the sequence...
Two footnotes for us Americans: 1] In the US, “Away in a Manger” is sung to a different melody. 2] The name of the fourth “Die Hard” movies ("Live Free or Die Hard") is a play on words, the state of New Hampshire’s motto being “Live Free or Die”.
The Christmas 2024 episode! Please enjoy this on your Google Chromecast with everyone around you in the living room, and happy/merry Christmas to all! 🎄
Thanks for the upload! It's always so interesting when R3 starts when you can see the heights of all the competitors. Theyre all the same height sitting down lol
During the Connecting Round, you can see that Victoria is wearing shoe that are decorated to look like presents (I think.) That is attention to detail in that Victoria isn't on screen in a full shot for more than thirty seconds an episode.
I believe you mean The Wall round (they're all connecting rounds) about Victoria's shoes. Don't witches' boots always compliment their hat?? "Vicki's" were just more colourful 🤷♀️
A lot of modern board gamers look down on Catan these days (myself included) as they enjoy newer games more. It was definitely a game changer and got people into the hobby, but it's showing its age.
@willem2232 I'm a "modern boardgamer" with quite a solid collection of both new and old. But Catan is still in my top 2. The other being Lost Cities by Knizia. Everyone's got to have their favourites haha.
Thank you for the Christmas upload. My 9yo son just started watching OC with me lately and today we got to start a little holiday tradition of our own. That being interpretive dance dressed up as holiday characters to the OC theme song, obviously. (The dancing was lost on him actually, but the quizzing we really enjoyed.)
Definitely disagree with Victoria on when you mark the start of a decade. The 90s is 1990 to 1999. The one offset is only for the counted periods of time because there's no year 0. The first century AD was 1 to 100 AD. In this way the noughties of the first century were only 9 years long. Also, centuries named rather than counted, are offset back to normal. So the 20th century was 1901-2000, while the 1900s were 1900-1999.
Great set of puzzles. A correction is messed regarding the beginning of decades. 1901 and 2001 are the beginning of the century and the millennium, but only because these are sets of time that are numbered. The first century and first millennium must have started in the year 1. But decades aren't numbered. It's just the 1890s, 80s or the 00s. Defined as all years that include 189x, 8x, or 0x.
As someone from the Southern Hemisphere, I feel obligated to point out that penguins come from down here. And our Christmas is in summer, so a penguin doing a Christmas dance in the snow is all sorts of wrong.
12:54 is the melody for Away in a Manger different in the UK vs the US? As an American, it just sounds different. Perhaps it’s because this a cappella rather with a music accompaniment?
A large number of hymns have little direct connection between their text and tunes until well after both are composed. In fact many hymn/poem writers used common meters so that any number of tunes could be interchangeable. E.g., Amazing Grace and Gilligan’s Island.
I've been waiting for Alice to return for a Christmas special and then as soon as she does she drops the bombshell and breaks my heart! (Congratulations to Alice and her husband) Thanks for the upload as ever wheelsongenius
21:56 What is going on with bottom part of Victoria's full length dress? Are those festive looking footwear? Extensions of the dress? Love her commitment. Merry Christmas.
"Gotham is a fake place"?.. it very much isn't.. It's a village about three miles from here in South Notts.. after which, it is claimed, all other Gothams are named
When the Bank Holiday falls on the weekend it gets moved, so Christmas day on Saturday and Boxing day on a Sunday means a Bank Holiday on the Monday and Tuesday and a four day weekend for those of us in a business that actually has Bank Holidays (those that don't get an extra day of paid leave to be taken as and when they choose, and usually double time for working, though there's probably a contractual loophole in there for some)
R2 Flax, 3 points. I answered "Monday, Mon 25 Dec, Tue 26th Dec" because I thought the sequence was "upcoming Christmas holidays". This year (2024) Christmas is on a Wednesday, so it will be on Thursday in '25, Friday in '26, Saturday in '27, and Monday in '28 because it will be a leap year. This sequence fits the first 3 clues, so it would be an acceptable alternative answer.
0:33 might just be my favourite moment of this OC season hahaha
This is probably the best episode ever! Personal highlights:
- Victoria's festive footwear reveal in round 3
- Veronica's side-eye at 26:55
- ⛄⛄🐧
How does she move around in those shoes? Who made them? Out of recycled gift bags? Questions abound 😂
She’s a whole tree basically, remarkable!
Victoria's footwear 24:20
Thanks! missed Veronica's side- eye!

Note on 2 there: because that motto isn’t known outside the US, the movie was titled “Die Hard 4.0” in non-American markets.
I'll also note that because of the somtimes hard winters in New Hampshire, the motto is sometimes phrased as "Live, Freeze, and Die" ;-)
Yes, I was surprised by Away in a Manger.
Really? Here in Canada the melody they sang is the only one I have heard. I guess I should look up what the US melody is
@@waffling0 I think I heard it on Dr Quinn?

This is the best present to wake up to! Merry Christmas to you and yours🐧🎄
More presents! Thank you Wheels! Happy Christmas Day!
Merry Christmas and thank you for uploading this!
Thank you for posting! Merry Christmas to you too! ❤
Thanks for the upload!

Thank you so much Wheels. Thanks to you I've been introduced to such s great show. Merry Christmas!
21:37 - playing Cluedo with VCM would be the shortest game in history.
Especially if Ludwig was playing also!
You should also check out Super cluedo. Much more brain power needed.
She'd be just as good as Richard Madeley in the TV show version of Cluedo
Only if you didn't realise you could play it tactically when you were 9 years old... I might have a weird family though.

The Ben Elton? _Additional question setter?_ Edgy as always.
Lovely fast upload! Thank you and happy happy holidays!!
Said it already but MAN I love this show hahaha
Thank you so much for these videos!! Merry Christmas!!
Thank you!
Calling Die Hard "a sort of live-action Stick Man" is so good
thanks for the uploads throughout!! merry christmas
Such an excellent episode. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Wonderful. Thank you and Merry Christmas 🎉
"Catan is alright." Just alright. Broke my heart 😂😂
I didn't know they'd changed the name. It's still 'Settlers of Catan' to me. Had that as a dead cert to be a red herring for the actual game group.
Cluedo/Clue is usually more fun than Catan. The roll and moving hurts, but the gameplay is more exciting.
A lot of modern board gamers look down on Catan these days (myself included) as they enjoy newer games more. It was definitely a game changer and got people into the hobby, but it's showing its age.

Merry Christmas!!
Thank you for posting
Thanks from Canada!
Much more enjoyable than turkey!
Is Victoria really wearing gift shoes? 😂 19:28
I guessed Michael Portillo's eye. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Wheels

I came to the comments to say this, but two people (including you) were faster than me. 😀
R1 Lion: Oh, a special question setter? Who's secretly liaising with Victoria behind David's back this time?
Ben Elton gets a mention in the credits.
Finally. We, non-Europeans, can relate!
Great set of puzzles.

Best singers ever in this show ✨👍✨
Victoria has a great singing voice

Penguins live in Antarctica, so…
@@ikarikid Penguins also live in NZ (in fact, about 30mins drive from my house), Southern Africa, South America and Australia.
Nice to see the Brits also accept the fact that Die Hard is a Christmas film.

Just came looking for this comment. That was wildly different.
Yes. There are (at least) two versions of this song. The UK version is also traditional in Australia but the US version is also performed too.
In Canada, I grew up hearing both. Had no idea the difference was national.

Victoria's shoes!
Thank you Victoria, I still love Clued-O (plus the film Clue) we play frequently...
So has anyone got any of these answers? I got 2 and a half.
I remember Alice from before. What a beauty!
What a Scrooge to not join in with the carol singing.
"Gotham is a fake place"?.. it very much isn't.. It's a village about three miles from here in South Notts.. after which, it is claimed, all other Gothams are named
I love this stupid show 🐧

My god is Alice gorgeous. I, too, would be compelled to make her change her surname. Well done, chap who isn't on display (or gambling).
Charles, too. Good work dad.
I got the maximum this week. 90 points.

Doesn't match the extra lines on those clues though
Sad that Alice didn’t join in with Away in a manger- Christmas spirit!
The dancers' costumes were so sad looking. Surely they could have been brighter and less goofy?
Catan is definitely a terrible board game. Cluedo and Operation are the better ones from that list, though I wouldn't call either great.
