so valuable all these analyses and memories from Rick - so glad they were published, it's such a great legacy.. still can't believe he isn't here with us anymore R.I.P. brother
Loved Rick Parfitt man. He was the only one who held the band together. Amazing rythmn guitarist. Sadly he's no longer with us but he'll never be forgotten R.I.P. Ricky
Absolutely mate. Rossi is a bit demanding I would imagine a bit hard to live with. But he is a damn good guitarist lets not forget that. The way he talks and moves around as he's sitting being interviewed is really terrible.
Yes I think Rick was happy to sit back as maybe his ego was satisfied with being one of the two most identifiable members of the band . Also he would have been receiving song writing credits ? So finically doing very well .
I remember hearing a story about Rick having a 'meltdown' at an airport, where he had a verbal tantrum about being #2 behind Francis being #1 in the Band. May be he'd forgotten about that too or was he being diplomatic for the interview? We all know that Francis thought he was #1. I think Lancaster is a lot of QUO fan's favourite Band member. He is mine.
When Rick says he has no problem with Rossi seeing himself as number one in the band, speaks volumes. A double edged statement, Rick being very diplomatic and as always cool as 10. Can’t believe he’s gone and Alan too. ✌️💙
Rick wasn’t being diplomatic he was sitting on the fence. Ricks balls were in Rossi’s hands. Everyone likes to love Rick but Rick stabbed Coughlan and Lancaster in the back.
Brilliant. You must have nearly uploaded all of these segments?? But I hope you still have more as these have been the best I think of Rick talking ❤🎸🎸
Been a Quo fan since the 70s. I don't get why Rick says at 3:20 that it was the 4 of them (the Frantic 4). Roy Lynes had already been in the band for a few years when Rick joined. Rick became the 5th member. Roy was still a member of the band for a few years after Rick joined. Wonder why he airbrushed Roy out of their history.
There was a TV documentary where Mr Lynes was conspicuous by his absence. I appreciate he left before they became a phenomenon, but all the same, just some acknowledgement that he was there for a while would have been decent.
They would have disappeared within a few years. Love him or hate him, Rossi kept them together and Rick has admitted it himself several times, he wouldn't have survived without Quo and Rossi
Alan shouldn't have moved to Australia, but he wanted to do real estate investments there, as Rick said elsewhere. Being a band's member but living as far away from the other members as it's possible on Earth wasn't a good idea and it didn't last for too long.
I have always really liked Rick, a very genuine and sincere bloke...Rossi not so much, but he's ok.... I did hear from someone within that circle, that, back in the seventies, the two of em could be pretty cocky and flash when they were together....to be fair they were young and massive stars back then, full of confidence. Maybe Alan was pushed out a little?....or maybe he was the same, I dont know, but I remember reading around the time of the split that he was bullied out, its something we'll never know, Ricks comments were heartfelt I think, he genuinely didnt like the ill feeling, and thought a lot of Alan. Its just what goes on in bands I guess, RIP Rick and Alan...two lovely blokes.
same as ACDC, Lynyrd Skynyrd etc. etc. etc. No different. Who do you work for? Who worked there before you? Who will work there after you? Are you the original or the tribute/ Jeezuz
@@fromthemakersof5529I think you have a point when you say ‘No Frame, no Quo’. Every band has to have a leader to get it through the thick and thin. Sometimes it falls upon someone. Other times a person claims the position, but someone has to be captain, or the band would have faded away due to lack of direction, substance abuse or whatever. You heard Rick say he couldn’t remember all the stuff. The downside is the band goes in whatever direction the ‘captain’ want to take it. Remember Paul in the Beatles. Nobody really cared except Paul. I’m not saying I particularly like the direction Francis took the group either, but if he wasn’t in charge where would Quo be?
Why do people comment solely on the negative stuff. Seems like as the guys got older, there was some forgiveness.. and obviously a lot of forgetting because of the lifestyle that unfortunately went along with being in that industry.
I've loved quo since my teen days I have actually spent still got the complete ticket 1973 at festival hall Melbourne Australia I really miss rick Owen
Rick Parfitt and Alan Lancaster were real gentlemen. RiP. Ozzy Osbourne actually made vile comments about Rick Allen, calling him "A freak show". That's the difference between good and bad people right there.
It`s a pity that this occurs so often in business , specially in music biz where good old mates can fall apart - Glad they got good at the end again though. Nuff & Ricky were my favorite members. May they rest in peace in rock heaven.
I saw an interview a few days ago with Rossi...it seems that demenz is setting in with him...as he was being interviewed he kept forgetting what he was talikng about and the interviewer had to keep reminding him
Poor Rick, you should have stood up to the bully Rossi a lot more and stopped him from sacking Coughlan and then Lancaster and then turning Quo into an embarrassing ‘medley’ wedding band with Rich and Rhino and the skeleton Bown. Parfitt sat on the fence and took his orders off the ice cream salesman Rossi. Parfitt lacked balls and sold his soul instead of backing up his band mates. There, I said it I feel better now. 🖕🏻
Interesting interview but I think Parfitt is misguided when he states there was no pecking order etc. Although not a fan of the Quo I recall the early pop - sike days ; Ice In The Sun et al and it was very obvious that Rossi was the main man . Lead vocals, with presence and charisma he was always the man who did the interviews etc. Lancaster however you look at it was not the face of Status Quo in my opinion
Rossi was the narcissist and egotist, greedy too, he thought he was Quo and everyone else was secondary and replaceable. He wasn't everyone's Pal by any stretch of the imagination, was he Nobby? 🙁
My respect for Rick just grows and grows. What a nice chap. Decent.
I met him on loads of occasions, our birthdays were 3 days apart and we were both seeing German girls, Rick married his !!

Alan Lancaster should never of been out of Quo.. . Rick and Alan and spud should have got together and told rossi were to go

The pecking order is usually created by the public and media. It usually defaults to the lead singer.
If you notice he’s quiet short in Breath poor Chap it was Coming like it is to us all.
