I like your show. I am catholic, and I am also gay. I've been both since the 1960's. I had tried to not be gay, and after being unsuccessful and depressed, I decided to be myself. The point I want to insert into the global conversation is that not all Catholics are straight, and not all Catholics are conservative, and not all gay people are atheist or liberal. You can't make two camps and assume people are one or the other. We are more varied and boxes don't work for humans. Being in a gay relationship is not all about sex, just like straight relationships are not just about sex. Making general statements about people makes arguments easier but it also makes them incorrect. Pope Francis knows what he is doing. Jesus hung out with the outcasts that the religious leaders rejected.
To the last gentleman with the daughter, I'd say talk to her about it and see if you can get past her reservations, but if she's not ready don't push her for confirmation. She'll definitely be happier with it if and when she feels the came to it freely, especially if she has these reservations of feeling "forced" so far, however true those feelings may or may not be. I think she could use some time to think about it and feel like she is coming into the church on her own volition.
Jimmy mentions the presumption of liberty, "in any system of law." Is that a theological view, or is this just Jimmy's libertarian bent? A legal system where any change in an individual's behavior would require permission and or licensure seems possible though not ideal. However, if it is a theological truism, then I'd like a reference so I might use it.
