It's 2020 and I'm binge watching your reviews. I honestly miss you Emer. I hope where ever you are brother, that you are happy. I'm sorry you're gone. However, you did leave behind some of the best and humbly honest movie reviews I've had the pleasure of watching. You and your amazing personality live on and shine through after death. Thank you for all the years of entertainment and amazing points of view. Love you bro and I still find myself thinking of you to this day. May these videos be enjoyed for many more years to come.
Hey man, I know I'm a year late, but I'm in the same boat as you. I grew up on Emer's content and he meant a lot to me not only as a content creator, but as a role model. I think about him a lot and it is sometimes hard for me to watch these videos without getting emotional, but honestly, it does me good to see that after all these years, his content still holds up. Rest in peace, Emer. You were the realest of the real. There will never be a content creator like him again.
I actually really enjoyed The Original August Underground. Its a simple but with a extremely effective concept that was original for its time. The camara mans a noteworthy character as well, the fact he's never shown adds a since of mysticism and at the same time enriches are main character. I never really understood why Mordum was the fan favorite out of this series.
Not always. I have covered a few movies that had some pretty large budgets. However, a fair chunk of what I review have been made with rather sparse budgets.
People are defending this movie by saying it wasn't meant to be enjoyed? I'm sorry, that's a horrible excuse. If I made a movie that was just a 70 minute montage of people going to the bathroom and then labeled it as "art", it would still be a terrible movie, regardless. My point is, if you have a movie that literally serves no purpose other than to showcase the lives of a group of serial killers, then saying that "it wasn't supposed to entertain" pretty much means that you've admitted to making a crap film. And that's not even getting into the terrible acting and writing.
i thought the same but after looking at his real response to what it was supposed to be it honestly changed my mind - look up freds interviews on what he has to say about it -
That was a real video store, it was a video store in pittsburgh that focused specifically on b-movies, troma flicks and all things cheesy. It has been closed for like four years now.
@DarkBombJoe I don't reveal that sort of thing. What I will tell you is that May will be a theme month (all the movies will have a common bond). However, I will not divulge the theme of next month's videos until the first one goes up.
@boredandhungryTV Actually, I said "simulated snuff". The difference is that as the name suggests, a simulated snuff film features a fake murder and showing it as genuine. An actual snuff film, on the other hand, would show an actual murder.
you keep bringing up the fact that you didn't expect anything but violence, but that's not the films fault. People should have told you its the exploits of a group of psychopaths. Also Mordum is probably the least like a true snuff film, the first one is more genuine feeling and better, while the 3rd uses a better camera and has more of a story arch. basically mordum was made to just show a bunch of crazy stuff. p.s. when i make snuff films i get my lighting good. the first AU is groundbreaking
@voro122 Think about the context behind it. August Underground's Mordum is so bad I would rather watch an actual snuff film. Mind you, I didn't say that 3 Guys 1 Hammer was entertaining. If I remember correctly, I said that it was more entertaining than Mordum. Just thought I would clarify that.
@BeavisNButtheadRock I would do Cannibal Holocaust next, but I have my next five movies lined up already. However, I will hopefully cover Cannibal Holocaust soon. I really do want to watch it, I just need to download it somewhere.
@WeedySparx Snuff films don't have to be pornographic. Where the hell did you get that? A snuff film is any film that shows an actual murder made for sale. Nothing more. Thus, 3 Guys 1 Hammer IS an actual snuff film (the killers were thinking about selling their video, according to sources). And, Mordum is a simulated snuff film. I never claimed to be a good reviewer, but I believe that I am at least somewhat competent at it.
So, let me see if I understand this. You are saying that films cannot be both shocking and be seen as a quality film? Maybe you should go watch "A Serbian Film" and "Cannibal Holocaust". Those two movies have proven that you can be both a high quality film and shocking. Do you have any actual points to make?
Let me assure you that I wouldn't say that sort of crap just to be funny. Sure, it's a plus if it's funny on top of being true, but there has to be some truth there for me to mention it in these videos. They were smiling during that entire scene, so I mentioned it.
@OldHorrorAndSyfy Well, there was an attempt at a story. The main characters came from the original August Underground movie, and there was some attempt and developing the characters and telling a story about their exploits. So, yeah, I can complain about the writing when the story is shit. As for lighting, it is a simulated snuff film. They could have tried to use natural light sources to better light the scenes. At least that would make some sort of sense to me.
@He11sing920 Sorry for cutting off but...is 3 Guys 1 Hammer really a "snuff" film? I mean, it's kinda hard to tell since some exploitation "films" such as the 2girls1pitcher/cup/finger/etc., etc and other videos could be disproven. At the risk of sounding rude or skeptical, do you mind if you could post the source(s) of the information you claim is true?
@WhacoJacko Oh, I can assure you, I hate Slaughtered Vomit Dolls more. In fact, I made an episode a few weeks back where I covered that very movie. If you have a few minutes, feel free to check it out.

I assume that either you or someone you know has a video camera which you or they use to record video? And, on these videos, more often than not, if someone who didn't know you saw the footage, they would have absolutely no idea wtf was going on? The point of this movie was to show, quite literally, a serial killer's home videos.
@WeedySparx I am going to assume you are being sarcastic. I cannot believe that they would light these scenes well (which, they obviously didn't), and then undo the lighting in post (which don't even think is possible). I can see them adding a VHS quality filter over it, but nothing much beyond that. As for the bit about development, they didn't really do a good job. But, I never saw the first film, so I don't know who flat and lifeless these characters were in the first place.
