Completamente deacuerdo, no soy un tipo al cual le agrade el cine de hecho me llevaron casi a la fuerza lo cual a gradesco es la mejor pelicula que he visto. La historia es preciosa, la musica toda original y excelente las actuaciones fenomenales. totalmente disfrutable te deja sentiminto de satisfaccion, sales del lugar sabiendo que viste algo especial y no se borra de la mente, me encanto tanto que la vi 4 veces y cada una la disfrute mueve los sentimien tos.

I'm legit cracking up over here. As much as La La Land was beautiful, this was the completely overrated film. Moonlight was actually about something much more important than a couple with big dreams and love.
thats the problem i think, its not the "theme" of the movie, what Tom Cooper said is that is just a better film, and I agree, I fall sleep watching moonligth I just coulnd muster enought of a fuck about the life of a drugdealer, that happens to be black AND gay im sorry but i just dont care, and at least lala land has pretty music and I think it has a much more relatable message, I love the fact that they didnt end up together simply because thats just life, sometimes you love someone but just cant be with her and have to be an adult about it and just let it go.

The feel of this song reminds me of "I wonder" from Disney's Sleeping Beauty. Just someone walking, talking, singing to him/herself. Pure beauty. Other scenes in this film remind me of Sleeping Beauty as well, such as the dance with a stranger in the woods/mountains, etc. Also, the Gifts of Beauty remind me of the dream scenes in the clouds.

**In conferring "La La Land" on the cinema, I couldn't fail to notice several similarities with the musical Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (1964) by Jacques Demy. As in Demy's film, there is the celebrated marriage of a young couple very in love, but then comes the separation and the frustration of the reunion. Both stories are set in different places and times, but with the same saturated colors, which bring to light a rich and realistic presentation of young love abruptly interrupted by the impossibility of reconciling happiness with the commitments imposed by life. On the whole, La La Land claims for its lack of originality - just as Cherbourg's Les Parapluies was admittedly inspired by the old Hollywood musicals and Marcel Pagnol's trilogy of plays, entitled Marius, Fanny and Caesar. The superiority of the French film, however, lies in the most intense, dramatic and convincing love story in the magnificent soundtrack of Michel Legrand and in the presence of the beautiful Catherine Deneuve.
Damien Chazelle, La La Land's director and writer, acknowledged from the start that he drew inspiration from and was intentionally paying homage to Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. He never said that his movie was original.
For a guy who just turned 32 is unbelievable what he already achieved.
Yes, Damien from the outset said he drew inspiration from the musicals of the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. In particular Singin' in the Rain and Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. All the songs are original by Justin Hurwitz, and Les Parapluies de Cherbourg showed that even kitchen sink seemingly run-of-the-mill love-gained-love-lost romance love story can reach epic proportion if set to sweeping music, scores and songs. Damien, good for him, draws inspiration from that and captured the spirit of those iconic musical movies and then put on his own stem and created a modern classic that's sure to be enjoyed for generations to come, just its predecessors...

When you're watching the movie the laughs are very charming and sweet, but when you wanna listen to the song and pay attention to its lyrics and melody the laughter is quite distracting. I wish there were a clean version of this song.

I truly hope so it impacted me in a way I can't explain..the music number one .is beyond excellent and those two actors Emma and Ryan my god they were so amazingly believable!!! Still play this song city of stars when I'm feeling down..
I think it's a shame. This song has such a nice melody and whenever he was just humming it in the film I thought it was nice. I expected it to be played in a full version at the end and while this scene was nice, I thought it sounded too 'sketch'-y for me, like it's still not finished. I think it should have a completed version.

Me too!!! .i am almost 75 and Ive seen the movie many times.all my lady friends poo pood it and didn't care for it b.c it's unrealistic? I still listen to this sound track several times a week.i cried like a baby at the ending.!!!.so many people I guess have never experienced what those two had..all it takes is once in your life time..but what a gift!! Certainly sad.but yet what a gift.i know I wouldn't be the person I am right now..seeing this movie and hearing the songs have put something into my soul that wasn't there before..so glad it touched so many of you out there..keep on believing in love and difficult choices..they make us stronger.

Sometime in March 2020 I was singing along City of Stars fighting back tears as riding in the car. 2020 had already been nothing but bad news, my first home country was already in lockdown for Covid and I knew it was coming our way in the States soon.
Lockdown started a mere 5 days later here in Texas.

Details, details... But the scene for this video and (most) of the La La Land videos, was never in the movie. The lightpost and short posts are more to the right. At this position of the dance, they are in front of a concrete bench.
