"Hefty and heartfelt", wonderful recommendation. Must pick my copy of Vanity Fair out of the closet. I trust your review.

The House of Mirth is one of my favourite books! That final scene, where she's describing... well, the thing she's describing is one of the best things I've ever read 😍. I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed Vanity Fair so much! I have it on my shelves too but I was having some doubts about it. Your review inspired me to try it soon!

Totally agree re House of Mirth. I needed a break after to recover from that ending!

Fantastic review! I read my first Edith Wharton this year- Ethan Frome… and loved it! Will try HoM soon! Also your review of VF is inspiring. May have to pick that up too. Love your mix of classics and some non-fiction/contemporary. Mirrors my own reading. Keep the videos coming. Love your insights and choices!

Thanks Jill. I'm keen to read Ethan Frome, but don't know about reading Edith Wharton consecutively. She's not exactly cheerful!

@@juliereadsherbookshelf Yes indeed!! You must have some hilarious space between Whartons. Nobody needs constant lovely tragedy! Keep up the good work. ❤️

About The Secret History I think that the first part of the book is more like Richard seems them and idealize them and on the second part we can see more how they really am (their flaws), but Camilla and Henry I think it always happened but because Richard is not a reliable narrator we couldn’t see it

It might be, so if the narrator is so unreliable the author should've left clues along the way. On a first reading I didn't buy it. I plan on revisiting the book next year and seeing how I feel about it on a re-read.
