Listen to songs like electroheart. Very pop sounding in structure and sound. Nothing wrong with that but they're not just a melodic metal band, and certainly not melodic death metal. Amon Amarth is one example of melodic death. Amaranthe has a clear pop element on top of whatever metal subgenre they're closest to.
Actually he didn't say it's pop. Anyway, some say it's a mix of both because it has typical elements from both genres. And even for melodic death it's too melodic actually. So from that point of view dublinboyish's statement is correct AND I agree with him :)

Linkin Park is probably the best they have ever been .. A Thousand Suns is probably the best made album of 2010. People are just used to old stuff and refuse to give new things a chance. They are afraid of change.

Amazingly 1000000 light years from earth would not even be halfway to our nearest neighboring galaxy, andromeda, which is about 2.5 million light years away. Light travels about 6 trillion miles a year...for a logical reference.

Japan is SO awesome! They've carried the metal torch now for decades and decades as musical trends come and go in The West. Such enthusiasm and wide eyed innocent joy! Why would any of these bands want to tour anywhere else?

Great video and great song. Most people would not listen to this because of the "rough" singing. But it makes the "smooth" singing stand out that much more. Great contrast. The fans at the signing were truly impressed and made me feel really good inside when I saw their reaction to the band. Awesome!
Wow, talent!! How do you beat it? Stacatto death-metal precision musical chops, art-rock sophistication, gorgeous hooky pop vocals, blazing guitar solos - they blend it all together like musical alchemy! Best band in decades... I'm 64 and have heard tons of music, these guys stand up there with the best ever, and I've never seen the blending of musical styles they manage to pull off, as if it's the easiest, most natural thing in the world to do! Funny thing is, I believe it is completely natural, for some reason all those different musical sensibilities just blend, like chocolate and raspberries - different but perfect together... LOVE THIS BAND!!

what i got from my friends is that some of them hate certain part of vocals, someone doesn't like screamer, someone doesn't like elize etc.
but of course for me all 3 together are an eargasmic synergy

The standard and screamed vocals do absolute wonders for this band, along with the pop/metal clash you can hear. It makes it sound like a Beauty & The Beast esque song. Damn good if you ask me.

I think they consider themselves as Progressive Metal, I don't actually know, but it has a lot of influence from very genres of metal :D They are truly amazing and PROMISING :D
