Another excellent video! A little tip on lacing system on the FF's: Once you snug down the slider, take that little velcro tab and twist it a time or two, and then stick it in place. This will twist the loose lace into a pig tail, and curl it against the shoe. I find the FF's are easiest to put on (I don't wear the toe socks) if the shoe is left on the floor/ground and the foot is stuck into it, and then the toes are used to creep the foot forward. Then use your finger tips to align the "V" part of the toe sockets with the spaces between your toes. You'll probably find that you can just sort of scoot your toes and foot right into place....and then just pull up the heel. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas! Best to you all in the coming year!
Hi thanks Todd, I did the lace twist and it looked way better when I went for a run this morning - Thank you! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and new year with your family too, we had a wonderful time 😁
@@skinnylegsbarefootshoes My daughter and I got in a morning run up in the local canyon today. It was muddy and fun! It was only about 8.5, but I'm feeling it!
Hi Ashley..GDay from Australia ... I love my Vibrams 5 fingers !! Very light , great ground feel , it has taken me some time to adjust ( sore calfs ! ) but they are great fun . I am up to 450 km in them and they are absolutely as good as new ! , Reckon 1,000 KM no problems.... Also have a pair of XERO Prios , which are pretty damn good .. but the Vibrams shade them in my opinion.
Gday Scott mate 😁 you’ve got the summer down under while we are running in freezing fog and gloom - not that I’m jealous or anything 🤣🤣🤣 can’t wait to get more kms in these they’re so great to run in! I too had a pair of the Xero Prio but got the wrong size and didn’t get a bigger size so never really got to try them out properly. Be good to get a 1000 kms in the Five Fingers 🏃👍
Thanks Spencer I appreciate your comments, and I’m glad you are finding the videos useful 😊 I’ve a few more in the pipeline. The V-Run are really excellent running shoes they feel so good to run in, I’ve got well over 100 miles running in then and I’m off for a run in them this morning 🏃👍
I bought the Vibram Evo's as my first pair after I enjoyed using my first set of Freet barefoots last year, but alas those did had an insole material that fell apart, a shame, still wear them for causal bits but I don't really run in them. The Vibrams however - WOW - is all I can say. Once you get used to the forefoot running, they are super comfortable and really grippy. People have commented in the past about barefoot like 'doesn't it hurt your feet?', because they assume you heel strike on the ground in the same way as with normal running shoes, or how most people heel strike anyway. I have only been transitioning for a few runs but I can consistently run a 5k in them and my calves feel fine after a good stretch.
Hey Alex, I absolutely love my Vibram’s and have another different pair of Five Fingers too now. I think the Evo’s are probably the most minimal shoes Vibram do so that’s awesome running 5k in them 🙌 Shame about the Freets. I’ve a couple of pairs of them and still enjoy running in the Pace occasionally, but I primarily wear them for casual now too. Like the look of a few pairs of Freet, might see if Father Christmas wants to treat me 🤣 👍 With the Vibrams I really appreciate the way they splay my toes and make me feel when running - feels so much more natural than having them crammed into a narrow toed running shoe. Have fun with them 😁👍
That’s awesome! I have these V-Run and the V-Alpha and really enjoy the sensation of running in them. Longest run in them has been a half marathon, but I’d definitely take them to a full distance. What has been your favourite model over those 10 years? Do you only wear VFF? Cheers Ash 😊
I love the vibram, done hundreds of miles in them now and two points: 1) they remain relatively rigid, which I like; 2) for all the grip in mud or on light trail, they can be lethal on wet hard surface sometimes... but all in all my to go shoes indeed
Hey Marc, I too am loving my time in the Vibrams. It’s a shame they don’t soften up a little over time/miles however it is only a very small point and would not stray me from getting another pair for sure. It’s a shame on the grip they could have done much more with the tread pattern for wet or semi slippery surfaces but again it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me getting another pair 👍
@@skinnylegsbarefootshoes Certain of their tread designs are not great on hard wet surfaces, and others aren't great on trails. You sort of choose the tool, for the type of runs you are doing. For example, I don't run in the versions with the smooth sole like you have, because they specifically don't do well on trails, on hard wet surfaces, or on ground that is hard packed with a "scritchy" loose surface material....recipe for a big crash. My preference for all running in them is the Spyridon, V-Trail or V-Trail 2.0, or the Trek Ascent. They are completely fine on pavement and excel on any type of trails, including when wet (as you see in our Grand Canyon running). They also have a protective layer in the sole to give a little more protection from rocky nuggets giving you a stone bruise.
Hey Ash. Good to see you on screen again mate. I think my first barefoot shoes will be normal design, not the 5 toe set up. I'll have to be having a brave moment to have a go with those ones 😄 Have a good Christmas dude! 👍🏻🏃♂️
Really good vid! Thank you! By coincidence, I've been for my first ever run today in my brand new KSO Evo's and have to say they were a revelation. They are a slightly more minimal version of the V-Runs but I bought them for running on tarmac. I have never run in anything that feels so intuitive and comfortable. You're quite right - They look a bit mad, are a pain to put on...and they will start to pong a bit...but all that is a small price to pay for an amazing shoe. I hope you continue to enjoy yours. Would be great to see more vids on them 👍
Hi yay! I looked at the KSO’s too, are you in the UK, did you get them from Barefoot Junkie? It was a real toss up between getting the KSO Evo’s and the V-Run. They look really good shoes, and I think they would be a closer match to the Merrell Vapor Gloves for ground feel, but an even better stance and toe splay. My calf’s are feeling it today, takes some time to adjust 😁
@@skinnylegsbarefootshoes I had the same dilemma between the V-Runs and the KSO's but went for the latter just for the extra ground feel. I think the V-Runs are better suited to longer runs. I did get them from Barefoot Junkie, yes - really good service from them 👍
@@skinnylegsbarefootshoes Also, the grip on wet and hard surfaces is first class. I think the extra flexibility helps with this. Hope your calves stop stinging soon!
@@TJ_into_the_wild Yes nice one, Barefoot Junkie is a top shop great service. And I think you made a great choice with the KSO Evos. It was such a close call between them and the V-Runs which I’m enjoying too 😁 have a lovely Christmas and here’s to lots of running in the new year 👍
Hi man, l have all 3 of those shoes. For me the Merrells are the best barefoot feel but wear out fast, also best value. Vivos are the best well made and feel like a proper shoe and I can see them lasting ages. They did cost the most but I feel you get the best of both , wide toe box and looks like normal shoes too. The vibrams are great for running and as you said do look freaky 😀 . Hope you have a good Xmas
Hi Jack! We are shoe twins 😁 I agree with all you have said. The Merrell are just lovely to wear, they are the most flexible and have the best ground feel on and off road for running. The Vivos are heavyweights and feel substantial and protective. And the Vibrams are so great to run in, the way they splay the toes feels good even if they don’t quite have the absolute ground feel of the Vapor Gloves, all really good shoes in their own right 👍 Merry Christmas to you too have a nice time and all the best for 2022 😀
I dont understand why people are freaked out by the look of toe shoes. Do you get as bothered at the beach or at a pool with totally bare feet? Personally I think they are the best looking shoes our feet were ever blessed with
Yep, got to say the laces do look a much better design than on the vivobarefoot shoes. So weird they are that long and I have to wrap them round. Other trail shoes I own have a little pocket in the tongue so you can tuck the laces away. I hope vivo do that on the next version of the shoe.
Hi Phil, yes that tiny little intelligent design aspect of the V-Run makes so much sense, and makes the Vivo laces look clunky and ill thought out in comparison. So yes be good if Vivo looked at this and some other weight saving designs at the same time too. Hope you have a lovely Christmas mate 👍 🎄 🎅🏻
I have a question about the fit... I've been wearing VFFs for years. I believe by first pair was a size EU47, but they allow my feet to stretch out a lot and my last few pairs were EU49. I have a pair of V-Train 2.0 and V-Trail 2.0 that I've had for over a year. They are both very snug now, but I'm not sure if that's shrinkage from washing them so much, or if my feet have stretched out even more. I really want to try the V-Run, but I'm not sure what size to order. Should I try a EU50? Or you think I should get another EU49? I also typically wear socks with mine and I wear VFFs daily... Not just for runs
Hi, it might be worth ordering both the 49 and 50 to see which is best now for your feet. I did this through ‘Barefoot Junkie’ in the UK. It is great if you can find a retailer that offers free delivery and free returns. Or even if you have to pay postage one way at least you will know for sure which size is the best fit. The down side the initial payment for two pairs of shoes, knowing you only need one pair. I ordered a pair of 43 and 44 as I wasn’t sure which would be best when I bought the V-Run. As soon as I tried the 43 they fit perfect so I didn’t take the 44 out of the box. So they may come up fractionally small, but this is my first pair of VFF. Alternatively if you order the 50 and they are too big you could return them and try the 49 👍 Good luck let me know how you get on 😁
Does the v-run model have a fairly stiff rear heel? have you tried doing very powerful sprints? does the leg shift inside when running powerfully or is the fixation excellent??
Hi the locked to keep the mid foot and heel in-place is excellent when I pull the laces really tight. The first run I did in them I had to stop about three times and tighten them, but once I knew how tight they needed to be they were fine. I’m more of a distance runner than a sprinter but with the lockdown they give should be good for sprinting also 👍
Hi, I always wear the Five Fingers with socks. They are really well ventilated and have thin fabric so I wear socks with them and that way they fit like a dream for me. You can wear them without socks, as they are very flexible and soft, but it’s not something I’ve done.
Kind of, I’m size 8 (42) in Vivobarefoot Primus, 8 1/2 (42.5) in Merrell Vapor Glove and 9 (43) in these Vibram FF. I was also 9 in Adidas and Nike when I wore those kinds of running shoes. I measured my foot length in cm and then transferred that to the size guide on Vibram.co.Uk and the size was spot on for me. I hope this helps in some way 🤣🤣🤣 probably more confusing than helpful. But yes in simple terms I’d go up half or a whole size, and if budget allows get your normal size and the next size up if the place you buy them from does free returns, you get the definite perfect fit that way, and can send the other pair back 👍
