You know Lloyd Webber wrote "Love Never Dies" with Ramin and Sierra in mind, just like he originally wrote Phantom with Sarah Brightman in mind. The music in this show just matches their voices more than Crawford and Brightman.
Can we spend a minute to talk about Ramin's vocal technique? 6:26 "Dessss.....tay...eeeeee. Laaayyy....mayyyy....hayyy you seeeennnggg..." Tongue is totally relaxed and out of the way. May sound a little funny but in a theater you wouldn't even notice.
@@justess797 you can actually see that his tongue is flat and forward (not pulled back), and the pronunciation of words in the lyrics is a little modified to allow for the tongue to stay flat and relaxed. This is necessary because he is belting/mixing and needs as much resonance as possible. This can be achieved in part by keeping the tongue flat and out of the way. Try saying these lyrics while keeping your tongue flat with no movement and you'll know what I mean! It almost feels like talking in a "lazy" way.
Sierra's motherly version of Christin breaks my heart everytime....she is so good at potraying Christin. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 A mother-son relation is very unique indeed..... And Sierra nails it! Now I can't stop Phantom of the opera in a different vision.....🥺
This is one of the greatest moments in musical theatre. It summarizes some of the best themes in the musical and the reprise of Till I hear you sing is augmented with the most exquisite orchestral arrangement. You'll be hard pressed to find orchestral writing of this caliber in any other musical. I wish I was the sound mixer to amplify more what the strings and brass are doing, very powerful stuff, at the level of the best Puccini and Wagner. Is a shame that people find this musical too sad and dark. There are plenty of 'happy' musicals. This (and Phantom) maybe should be rebranded as full operas, and become part of the modern operatic repertoire, played by symphonic orchestras, where the themes and depth is more of what is to be expected. I think the quality is there. We can probably get away with crowd-pleasing numbers like the Bathing Beauty pseudo french cabaret, and other parts that, in my view, lower the quality, and go full-blown serious opera with this material.
This will forever be the best version of this scene ❤. While the Australian (and following productions) is more lavish it has never sat right with me that for most of the song the Phantom just stands to the side and then hands her the earings. London's version is much more romantic....with nods to Music of the Night and Point of No Return in the movements and gestures.
Ramin and Sierra add so much more to the characters. In d aussie version, Christine just looked terrified and trapped.. And here you could see her conflict - she herself wanting to sing... And ramin's is awesome

@@arajo5773 i agree but it do ends)) LND is just fanfic written not by Monsieur Leroux. Therefore it's not sequel but a film adaptation of someone's fantasy.
Their is a certain sorta irony here that for all the talk about how Christine needs to be ‘free’ of the Phantom because he ‘controls’ her yada yada..it turned out that she was more trapped with Raoul then she ever was with the Phantom. Raoul got the song bird…and then in his own words ‘clipped her wings’ because he was afraid of her flying too high, Raoul’s love sorta became a golden cage for Christine, and over time it lost its luster and became cold. The Phantom has never been scared of letting her fly because he is the one who TAUGHT her to fly in the first place! The higher she flies the more he loves her. ❤ Oh but he’s so OBSESSED! Yes he is. But by overcoming her fear of being his, by letting him put that necklace on her and claim her, she is actually setting herself free in a sense…that is the ultimate irony here. When she lets herself belong to the Phantom…on her terms, she can actually fly higher than she ever could in her life. Erik just had to accept that he couldn’t force her to fly as much as he wanted to even though it killed him to see her caged, and Christine had to realize that there was nothing to fear by being his.
I loved the sequel, I don't care what anyone says. Giving Erik and Christine a child was a beautiful way to bring their Beauty and the Beast relationship full-circle.
Beauty and the beast and POTO are nothing alike. Beauty is about looking past appearances and seeing love in angry beasts heart. POTO is about a girl who becomes a great opera singer thanks to her music teacher Erik the phantom when she sees his face she screams and off with her childhood sweetheart out of fear. I love Erik and Christine as a couple.
Christine's arc in this version(Sierra Christine specifically because the newest stuff doesn't impress me, Character wise) is so sad. Everyone is pretty roots against her happiness from the start. Gustave, and Erik(Phantom) are the only ones in her corner. While ultimately still a bit Selfish in his need for her to sing, he realizes its not just for his healing, but hers as well since apparently they're both in the same 'pent up' boat. He basically pay or do anything just to hear her sing. It was only after he discovered Gustave was his that he made the play to drive out Raoul and keep the now Two most important people in his world, Christine and Gustave. Then as Christine rediscovers what and who truly makes her happy---the end happens. Just so....wrong. She doesn't even get to see that relationship between Bio-Father and Son Blossom. Especially when Erik spent more time with Gustave (The Competition's Kid, at the time, mind you) in one day then it seemed Raoul had all month. "Father never plays with me, doesn't he love me?"
I love these two together, however it feels like Andrew took his masterpiece of Phantom of the Opera and scribbled all over it. By going back, he ruined the mystery of the phantom and the fairytale of Raoul and Christine.
@@nickaslanidis6156 yeah... The phantom of the opera has a novel so the story of the phantom of the opera musical has a some sort of... Additional Support... You know... ? Kinda like game of thrones, the tv show was different then the books but it was undeniably based of the books, it had support until it didn't... The story of the last seasons were rushed and fell flat since the books aren't yet finished and the show went pass the plot of the books, the GoT show completely separated from the GoT books and it no longer had that "support"... Same goes with Lnd
Although... If im not mistaken, Love never dies is loosely adapted/based off of a book called "phantom of Manhattan" which wasn't a well received book, some one tried to make a sequel to the original phantom of the opera novel but wasn't successful at it, judging by the the reviews that I've read, it broke the original characters and wasn't a good follow up.. So, if you loosely base the plot of a sequel (Lnd) off of another sequel(PoM) , and the latter is not a successful and good sequel, it doesn't provide the same support that i was talking about and weakens the plot of the new sequel (lnd).
Am I the only one who noticed Ramin Karimloo's voice get a little weird for a brief second at 6:30? Edit: nother than that I do love Ramin's voice how strong and clear you can hear it. It's just beautiful. This is why Ramin Karimloo is my number 1 favorite phantom. 😍 Sierra Boggess is amazing as well. Very beautiful voice.
No one is perfect at all time and I think he is doing perfectly good and he is always capable of singing. Just ignore it and carry on :) that’s music and arts
Actually in my perspective, i figure the little crack he had there is a sort of vocal fry-ish style he always had which is a technique rock or metal singers do to sound like they’re screaming but is actually safe. I don’t think it was a mistake, since it did not sound like someone who cracked their voice from strain or from nerves, rather it’s probably his style of singing. Don’t worry about calling it weird though. In POTO and LND we’re expected to listen to flawless belting and opera so a voice crack does seem weird in this case. Nonetheless we all agree it’s such a treat to hear him sing
A lot of Phantoms have started out as Raoul, including Ramin. I find the idea kinda funny that their is like this unspoken rule for young actors entering the world of Phantom that first you must ‘pay your dues’ as Raoul first, before you can be promoted to the role that you REALLY want which is the Phantom 😆
Gustave in this London show looks much creepy than the Australia show... I'm sorry but why he looks so pale here ? :/ Maybe he played a lot in the beach with that cloth (stripes shirt) but, it reflects how pale he is...... almost like a ghost
I’m late to the game but I did read several articles concerning the cold acceptance of the public to Love Never Dies. Well, the public just is never going to accept the death of Christine. Of alllll the possible ending, really? I would go hear Ramin and Sierra sing the contents of a magazine and be utterly thrilled. They are amazing. But you just cant kill Christine off. ALW needs to go back to the table for another rewrite...in my opinion.
Regi1962 after the phantom stands up and allows Raoul to hold Christine, he walks towards the end of the pier and I thought at first he was going to throw himself in the ocean.
I feel like people first criticized the show as fanfic for Christine/Erik shippers, but then they literally give the characters 5 minutes of happiness at the end and then kill her off, so it's very unfulfilling for people who want to see them together. It's unfulfilling for people who like Christine with Raoul and then unfulfilling for people that hate sequels and tampering with the original. So basically, Webber was writing for an audience that didn't exist. I wish he hadn't gone with the 'Phantom of Manhattan' as source material. I hate fanfic and it's mostly dross (I'm hyper critical) but I recently saw one recommended on another video, and it's shockingly good, with skilled writing and character development and has a believable uplifting ending (it's called 'Unsung' by Wheel of Fish over on fanfic, if anyone is interested - highly recommended). Maybe ALW just needed to explore more options for source material. Having said that, the score he wrote for LND is really beautiful and I am on board for the Ramin/Sierra version because the chemistry and intimacy they bring to this soapy story makes it feel real and emotional (the Aussie version was way too hammy/melodramatic and I couldn't get into it). I would do anything for a reboot with this cast, and a double-boxed blu-ray with the 25th Anniversary POTO.
I love how Ramin’s Phantom is almost teasing Christine here, singing his little seductive song into her ear only to pull away when she reaches for him…like “nope you want me, you’re going to have to sing for me” LOL The Phantom has her in the palm of his hand and knows it…that necklace was nothing short of him claiming her. I so wish they’d have just filmed the London Show with Sierra and Ramin…I mean I get it that the Australian version had better sets and costumes, and I do like Anne and Ben, but Ramin and Sierra’s chemistry is just explosive, one has only to watch them together to see the huge difference between them and frankly anyone else lol. I so just want to watch a full recording of their version of Love Never Dies. 😤
Since this was performed in 2011, I have one question. Was Sierra in this before or after she was Christine in the 25th Anniversary of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera?
Eristine Forever Before. Sierra left LND in March 2011 and Phantom’s 25th performance was on October 2nd, 2011. Though Sierra had already been Christine in Vegas’ production of Phantom of the Opera in 2006, so it wasn’t new to her.
N Ali so sad it’s not gonna be the original cast version :((( I just wish it was ramins and sierras version of this show since they were the first ones to originate it
Do you have "Christine Disembark", "Arrival of the trio" and "Dreadful Town"? Because I love love *love* this version of Love Never Dies, (this ver captures the spirits of the characters. You can tell there was effort and love put into making this by the actors for a more enjoyable experience for an audience... unlike the Aussie ver.) and have been denied it for more than 10 years! At last I hear them sing, once more!
I have to say I wish they would have kept THIS blocking of this scene for the Australian Version and Newer versions of this show because I must say it’s played way hotter here LOL This is basically Erik throwing all of his seductive energy at Christine to try and convince her to sing, and I like how Ramin so smoothly comes up behind her like a cat, sings in her ear, pulls away whenever she reaches for him. It is very much a game of seduction between them, and he leaves her completely melting for him here…I feel some of that is lost in the updated versions I’ve seen. And it’s important that we see Christine’s resolve to resist him completely crumble here…and I still feel Ramin and Sierra brought that point across the best.
I love that raoul tries to attack the phantom when in the phantom of the opera down once more/track down this murderer he was getting chocked by the phantom😭
Hi, does anyone know - at the end, "Christine, Christine, don't think that I don't care, but every hope and every prayer rests on you now" - is that sung by Raoul or the Phantom or both?
Sophie Titman Raoul sings the part ”Christine, Christine, don’t think that I don’t care” and the Phantom sings the rest: ”but every hope and every prayer rests on you now.”
Both Raoul and Phantom are so messed up. If I had been her, I would have chosen option 3: not being with any of them! Just take my son with me and make a living as a singer.
@@raz. Raoul is messed up because ALW threw every character he feasibly could under the bus to make his Christine/Phantom fanfic believable. He's leagues away from this mess in the original musical and even further away in the book
@@RavenSutcliffe Ya... I just watched the Australian product streamed by The Shows Just Go On. It totally felt like a badly written fan fiction. Raoul sang about his hurt from the past, but I cannot understand where it came from at all. Then, there were moments between Christine and Phantom that was a torture to watch... It is so sarcastic that Christine sang about Phantom having a heart that was pure and whole (I couldn't help but yell "what!!!??" when I heard this), then minutes later he said he would kill the child if Christine didn't obey him. *facepalm* If I had to drink a shot every time "wtf" came to mind, I would get drunk.
Poor Christine Daae. All she had was men telling her "what she needs". She lost her dad young, two men fought over her like a posession, her best friend shot her, and she died still stuck in a state of traumatic stockholm syndrome. The true tragic icon of ALW's POTO is Christine, not Erik.
....Erik is the protagonist. Not Christine. Any woman he cared about would've figured front and centre, sorry. Because they would be the one he cared about. Not because they were truly important otherwise.
Ok I love this but him basically collaring her as he’s singing about her being free was... not the romantic imagery I wanted... don’t know if that was intentional or if I’m reading too much into it. Would’ve been nicer to see him remove a big gaudy necklace Raoul gave her or something. Maybe that’s toooo obvious.

Alpha_Goddess this channel explains her whole career within the phantom of the opera universe th-cam.com/video/OzOBbcKSAPI/w-d-xo.html
Chloe Roberts, thank you! I have been wondering how involved she was in Phantom!
Alpha_Goddess of course!
And Ramin was the youngest Phantom ever at 26.
Dramatic Flirting is how the Phantom Rolls 4:19 and 5:42 and 6:05
You know Lloyd Webber wrote "Love Never Dies" with Ramin and Sierra in mind, just like he originally wrote Phantom with Sarah Brightman in mind. The music in this show just matches their voices more than Crawford and Brightman.
I wish we could have had this version
Can we spend a minute to talk about Ramin's vocal technique? 6:26 "Dessss.....tay...eeeeee. Laaayyy....mayyyy....hayyy you seeeennnggg..." Tongue is totally relaxed and out of the way. May sound a little funny but in a theater you wouldn't even notice.
I would have liked a bit more tempo and a fuller high, but that's me
How does one notice if the tongue is relaxed or not? Im not doubting it just asking
@@peerah thank u for explaining!
Sierra's motherly version of Christin breaks my heart everytime....she is so good at potraying Christin. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
A mother-son relation is very unique indeed..... And Sierra nails it!
Now I can't stop Phantom of the opera in a different vision.....🥺
This didn't need to be rewritten or changed. There is more soul here. The dvd does not do it justice. For me.
Awww I love the mother-son bond
Came here from the full stage version.. anyone else?
Me)
Ramin and Sierra add so much more to the characters. In d aussie version, Christine just looked terrified and trapped.. And here you could see her conflict - she herself wanting to sing... And ramin's is awesome
@@arajo5773 i totally agree with you)
actually i am rewatching Love never Dies on The Shows Must Go channel second time and start to think it's worth and not wasted time.

that ironically according to musical''s theme
@@artlibrarian4182 same.. I watched it and though the set was beautiful, I just couldn't connect with the characters.. Or the plot. Ramin n Sierra make it a bit better but for me, POTO starts and ends with POTO 😂
@@arajo5773 i agree but it do ends)) LND is just fanfic written not by Monsieur Leroux. Therefore it's not sequel but a film adaptation of someone's fantasy.
He is so seductive … 😳 I mean top level of seduction
Ramin's voice, body, hand movements just everything about him so super special and seductive I am trapped under his spell and always will be 🥰
Thank you so much!!
I love eriks voice when he’s singing
I love the Primadonna reprise 😍
Oh but he’s so OBSESSED!
My favorite part is where he puts the necklace on her. Plus the song.
sierra is simply gorgeous
So perfect. crying .wonderful
Thank you so much!!!😄😄😂😂
what a voice
the twisted every reprise is just perfect
The two strands of melody lyrics, always make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!

I loved the sequel, I don't care what anyone says. Giving Erik and Christine a child was a beautiful way to bring their Beauty and the Beast relationship full-circle.
Thank you *tears*
Beauty and the beast and POTO are nothing alike. Beauty is about looking past appearances and seeing love in angry beasts heart. POTO is about a girl who becomes a great opera singer thanks to her music teacher Erik the phantom when she sees his face she screams and off with her childhood sweetheart out of fear. I love Erik and Christine as a couple.
love him
Christine's arc in this version(Sierra Christine specifically because the newest stuff doesn't impress me, Character wise) is so sad.
Jan Henry also killing Christine totally threw me off
It's odd. Some of the music is phenomenal but the story falls flat. I mean ultimately ALW is a composer.
I love that he screwed Raoul and Christine fairytale because I always hated Raoul 🤮🤮🤮
As Ramin isn’t a classically trained singer so he’s done well to get that note out the best he could!
Dean is amazing, to think hes right now phantom in the west end is amazing
A lot of Phantoms have started out as Raoul, including Ramin.
I find the idea kinda funny that their is like this unspoken rule for young actors entering the world of Phantom that first you must ‘pay your dues’ as Raoul first, before you can be promoted to the role that you REALLY want which is the Phantom 😆
I like his mask from the 25th
Gustave in this London show looks much creepy than the Australia show... I'm sorry but why he looks so pale here ? :/ Maybe he played a lot in the beach with that cloth (stripes shirt) but, it reflects how pale he is...... almost like a ghost
Erik in the book was ‘pale and gaunt, like a skeleton’. Like father like son?
Tabby Moggy All of LND productions had a rotating door of young Gustaves who would perform on different days of the week. Options were limited.
I guess he looks like his father
I want a 'beneath a moonless sky'!!!
I'll upload it later! :)
I love how they sing and act together. They Are perfect and give me Pain in my hart. 😍 😍 😍
This makes me wonder why she didn’t just choose the Phantom from the start. He had professed his love for her 10 yrs ago. 🤷🏻♀️
OH MY GOD SOMEONE FREAKING COUGHED 3:58
I’m late to the game but I did read several articles concerning the cold acceptance of the public to Love Never Dies. Well, the public just is never going to accept the death of Christine. Of alllll the possible ending, really? I would go hear Ramin and Sierra sing the contents of a magazine and be utterly thrilled. They are amazing. But you just cant kill Christine off. ALW needs to go back to the table for another rewrite...in my opinion.
My thought is that Christine has to die. What, where they going to get married and have dinner parties and go to PTA meetings?
Joy Diegmueller no but I imagine so many different endings...
@@TheBlondeBomb1000 just wanted to back you up and say I love unsung so much 🤧 it’s on ao3 too
I will never outlive the chemistry between Sierra and Ramin
THIS!!! I need to see them again so bad 😢
I love how Ramin’s Phantom is almost teasing Christine here, singing his little seductive song into her ear only to pull away when she reaches for him…like “nope you want me, you’re going to have to sing for me” LOL
The Phantom has her in the palm of his hand and knows it…that necklace was nothing short of him claiming her.

Opera Ghost ok. Awesome. Thank you.

Void Valkyrie I see your word play at the end there hahahah
;D
5:11 the beginning of the best part. ❤️
I have to say I wish they would have kept THIS blocking of this scene for the Australian Version and Newer versions of this show because I must say it’s played way hotter here LOL
This is basically Erik throwing all of his seductive energy at Christine to try and convince her to sing, and I like how Ramin so smoothly comes up behind her like a cat, sings in her ear, pulls away whenever she reaches for him.
It is very much a game of seduction between them, and he leaves her completely melting for him here…I feel some of that is lost in the updated versions I’ve seen. And it’s important that we see Christine’s resolve to resist him completely crumble here…and I still feel Ramin and Sierra brought that point across the best.
Do you have the whole show? If so, would you mind sharing it please? (:
Meus queridinhos!! Amo mais q chocolate Ramin e Sierra!!

None of the characters get a happy ending in LND.
Opera Ghost thank you - I thought it might be that! And thank you so much for your uploads 🙏🏼

It's ten years after the first
Poor Christine Daae.
Do you have the After the Performance clip??
Ok I love this but him basically collaring her as he’s singing about her being free was... not the romantic imagery I wanted... don’t know if that was intentional or if I’m reading too much into it.
