I am from the land of mora knives and grew up with them. I just love them. My dad use them all the time in his job as an electrician. He has been using this one, but mainly the 511 basic. As for me, I use the robust pro for bushcrafting and the rope edition for the boat. Awesome to see these knives are so popular on the other side of the pond as well. Nice vid!
I just bought mora basic 511 and did minor camping with it just to test it. I fell in love with moras insantly, much because of the pricepoint (4,49€ here in finland). 'Because Cody Lundin has it' is a solid argument and also my argument for having that one as well, regardles that the sheath in #2 is not that good.
As a kid aged 9 (40yrs or so ago) I was given one of these (With leather sheath) as my first knife with a good blade and - in spite of owning and using others over the years, I've always found myself gravitating back to what are now Mora Classics. Great knives ;-)
Mora make their knives to be used. A knife that you've used, loved and abused for 20 years is far more valuable than something that has been sitting in a a drawer for 20 years. In 20 years time, I'm looking forward to pulling out my *old* Moras and Opinels and remembering all the places we've been together.
Best handle I've tried, especially for hard use when you really put pressure on it. Also carves like a dream just make shure it's really zero ground. My came with a slight micro on it.
I sometimes forget how pretty my no2 was before I beat it to hell. My edge is now a convex from years of stone sharping. A heavy patina from being kept on my back porch. The stain is almost rubbed off. Some chips in the blade I haven't worked out yet from digging up roots. Still a real nice knife and out performs all my other knives in that price range.
I don't think cost is a factor on whether something is collectable. It's collectable if you consider it to be, and you are happy having it in your collection. Enjoy your Mora LBS :)
I always come back to them. Just got a Helle Temagami and its great, deadsharp and a beauty, but the truth is that at a fraction of the prize a mora would do the same job. Maybe better in some ways and a little less so in others but definitely comparable. Its more maneuvrable for precision work in some ways because its smaller and the blade thinner. Don't let that put you off its half the trick.
Never get squishy bout moras, givem hell theyre great knives, I've owned half a dozen over the years. Probably lost af few due to the sheath but you push it down proper every time it stays. I've made leather ones for myself. I'm guessing every proper wood-shop in scandinavia has a mora lying about somewhere. For wood crafting that slender dead-sharp blade just cant be beat. I bear the scars to prove it too. Not the knifes fault tho - that deceptively simple handle is extremely maneuverable.
Just ordered me this knife with mora highQ robust. I can't wait to hold them in my hands. I was thinking to use classic 2 as my backup/food prepping knife. Anyhow thanks for the vid.
I just got a #2 from my son. I plan on keeping it in my pack, and using it, but it looks like it will last me a good long time. It will be my back up blade.
Thats the knife my father and my grandfather had. And know I am looking for one. Anyway, the reason the handle is red, is that when that knife was designed, red was the cheapest paint that could be found in Sweden :-)
Love the mirror polish they put on the blade. I have a real old one and it's got so much patina it's insane. Great knife for $10, and excellent review as always - enjoy!
Those knives were originally made for woodworkers. You can scribe a much finer line with a woodworking knife than any pencil. The Swedes then carried them into the bush simply because, if you lost it in the woods, they were so inexpensive you didn't really care.
I'll plan to buy one for the "everythings" of urban and sometimes-in-the-year rural life. I expect something that will last my life and i can give to my son, maybe. Prices in Brazil are quite high but i'm well inclined to pay for something of good quality.
It does on mine but its 25 years old ;o), they slapped a metal ring on it and just hammered out the end bit. But its not much of an issue. wouldnt go batoning a mora, its not meant for that. the steel is soft which is why it sharpens so easily, and scarily at that. Ive seen scores of moras in action - and maybe one or two got a bit loose in the handle if abused, but thats it. And then you just go buy another, theyre that cheap, or bring two theyre light and small. Or make your own handle
Very cool Mora there LBS, they are such a great, capable blade esp for the cost! thank you for sharing your thoughts, best wishes and have a great weekend
No frills, simple design & affordable you know I'm a fan. Nice vid Scout, it had that sitting around the table talking about knives "feel" : ) Take care
Used a no2 from the time I got my cubscout knifebadge to I joined up - great knife. About that safety issue you talked about it isn't really one when you consider how you use a mora. Your American way of choking up on a blade and putting your finger on top is something we don't really do when working with most knives most of the time - we usually have more of a ham-fisted "motorcycle grip" if you know what I mean, eliminating any hazard you identified. Great blade, traditional blade and useful
While many "serious" knife collectors may "poo-poo" the Mora as hardly a collector knife. I can't help wonder how many people were introduced to the knife world and STARTED collecting with them?. Their price vs. quality is very high. That, with their large variety of styles makes them an ECXELLENT way to begin collecting.
put some superglue on the metal and wrap a piece of leather with the same with as the metal betveen the handle and a blade adding more glue each round of wrap will make a stopper for your fingers so you dont cut yourself. works pretty good and gives more grip on the handle too as your fingers obv cant slip of the handle:)
@akaratekid1 how cool you get to go to the Pthfinder scool. as you should know dave reccomends a 5 inch carbon steel full tang blade. he says if your going to take a mora take a couple, make sure its carbon steel. your going to be using an axe or a saw for wood chopping. I recomend the frost mora 2000 or the mora bushcraft black
Oh cool. I used to be spend a lot of time in the woods a a kid and youth. I would always be carrying a knife of some sort, id even bring my swiss army knife to school. this was before the pesky knife laws and nobody even vaguely considered it a problem. My friend was a real knife knife enthusiast and would be one of the first to get imported bowies and big survival knives - but for most practical jobs, short of heavy chopping - the mora would really beat them all.
Never heard of anyone collecting a $12.00 Mora. I say use it. If you get one that Cody has used before or that he signed or engraved that be the one you'd want to collect.
i personally like Companion MG in carbon. there's a japanese youtuber virtuovice, that did a review of mora knives and (since he's a surgeon) he has access to xrays, and he took pics of the tang. Bushcraft Force seemed stronger tang than any robust models, due to the length of tang that's shoved into the handle but YMMV. have fun
and what knives do you use as good ones ? being cheap does not means that it is not good ! this steel is much much better from many other expensive knives steel . you have to pay about 70 euros to have a better blade quality . be proud for your country's products :)
Hello from the other side of the pond, that is exactly what a few friends and myself do with Mora and Marttiini knives. They are great throw away blades. Oh and no you will not find us paying more for them then they are. Garberg for example will never be in my vast knife collection as it is not worth what they ask by a long shot....for me that is.
No, that knife blade is not a problem.. For some purposes that design is preferred.. It's good for harvesting leaves and such that require the thumb to aid.. Very good knife.. A slightly shorter blade might be better..
Mora knives are under reated knives and under priced for what they will do. Mine is 2 years old and never been sharpened. It has been put through the ringer. Great video keep up the good work brother.
Had one rust to death over night on the Pacific Coast. Great, cheap, do most 'anything blade.... perhaps the ultimate utility knife... Collectible? C'mon... a few years ago though were $10.
nice knife but cody uses the number 1 but not the number 1 you get from mora these days the one he has was 20+ years ago which is not the same and does not even look the same. but i think as long as its a knife you like it does not matter if its mora or any other brand also keep in mind alot of these people that do these types of shows do it to sell knifes so again if it works for you then get it.

I bought one of these to use as a paring knife, I love carbon steel since it's easy to sharpen.
i think most people who have the mora classic 1 or 2, probably got it because of Cody Lundin.
My first fixed blade was a Mora exclusive 311 given to me by my dad. It's a wonderful knife, probably one of the best I own.
the classic 1 and 2 and the fiddleback forge hunter I thnk are the most beutiful knives ever
Mora make their knives to be used.
A knife that you've used, loved and abused for 20 years is far more valuable than something that has been sitting in a a drawer for 20 years.
In 20 years time, I'm looking forward to pulling out my *old* Moras and Opinels and remembering all the places we've been together.
i bought the mora 711 its got the grippy handle in carbon steel i love it i put paracord around the belt loop and its totally comfy as a neck knife
Best handle I've tried, especially for hard use when you really put pressure on it. Also carves like a dream just make shure it's really zero ground. My came with a slight micro on it.
i believe you are thinking of the classic 2/0
I sometimes forget how pretty my no2 was before I beat it to hell. My edge is now a convex from years of stone sharping. A heavy patina from being kept on my back porch. Icouldn't agree more, I've been watching cody for years now, and keep thinking I need a mora 2.
For a plastic sheath it looks great
Just ordered me this knife with mora highQ robust. I can't wait to hold them in my hands. I was thinking to use classic 2 as my backup/food prepping knife. Anyhow thanks for the vid.

I have just ordered this and the 480 clipper for £25 they sound great on youtube just hope they live up to it.
Love the mirror polish they put on the blade. I have a real old one and it's got so much patina it's insane. Great knife for $10, and excellent review as always - enjoy!
Your not alone, I bought one for the same purpose and reason. Cody Lundin is pretty neat xD
Those knives were originally made for woodworkers. You can scribe a much finer line with a woodworking knife than any pencil.
The Swedes then carried them into the bush simply because, if you lost it in the woods, they were so inexpensive you didn't really care.
im thinking about getting this for my second knife. i have heard that mora is a highly recommended knife
I'll plan to buy one for the "everythings" of urban and sometimes-in-the-year rural life. I expect something that will last my life and i can give to my son, maybe. Prices in Brazil are quite high but i'm well inclined to pay for something of good quality.
Agreed, my family hails from northern Sweden and parts of Norway... Best knives in the world come from there

Have you tried the Mora 2000? Thanks ,great review!

I'm goin to Dave Canterbury's camp in summer and I want to use a mora any recommendations

have fun

Sten Productions ha så jävla sant

What a coincidence! Middle eastern migrants use Sweden as trash now too.

Just bought one.
So the edge is like a straight razor right?
the mora classic #2 has been reduced in size to 2.9 inches.
i am pretty sure that the mora 2 is the larger one
No, that knife blade is not a problem.. For some purposes that design is preferred.. It's good for harvesting leaves and such that require the thumb to aid.. Very good knife.. A slightly shorter blade might be better..
I agree and I don't even have this knife. Enjoy it!
has cody this or the Classic 1?
wouldn't that be hard to sharpen?
Mora knives are under reated knives and under priced for what they will do. Mine is 2 years old and never been sharpened. It has been put through the ringer. Great video keep up the good work brother.
cool knife i think they are great and collectable high value low cost brilliant
mora butter knife????
the tang does not go all the way through the knife
dude, I guess Cody´s mora is the n# 1, I think!
Ahh man..you forgot to show a ruler measurement on your new addition to the family..lol Cheers ;-))
beautiful!
dammit, i was sure i was gonna get one of these for Christmas, now i have to go out and buy one myself.
Collectables don't have to be expensive, just good.. For less expensive, you can buy two.. Use one and keep one..
parabéns pelo vídeo, saudações do Brasil amigo.
Buy another one and put that to the test
Good videos and I enjoy your channel, however, you MUST use that Mora! The Classic model NEEDS to look used with a nice patina to be cool. :)
Tengo uno 👍tremendo filo
it's like how a buck 110 is collectable.
I don't think I've seen you going barefoot in any of your vids!
Had one rust to death over night on the Pacific Coast. Great, cheap, do most 'anything blade.... perhaps the ultimate utility knife... Collectible? C'mon... a few years ago though were $10.
This video didn't age well because they're 40 bucks now 😂. I still want one but it's crazy nowadays seeing the price hikes on knives.
Since you like this you may fall for Helle Viking as happened to me 🔪
And he got it from us scandinavians ;o)
Not sure why you would keep a $15.00 knife as a, "collector?"
He literally answers that in the video
moaski - are you deaf?
You need to get your hands on a Mora Force. A clipper on steroids.
Its only 3/4 tang
nice knife but cody uses the number 1 but not the number 1 you get from mora these days the one he has was 20+ years ago which is not the same and does not even look the same. but i think as long as its a knife you like it does not matter if its mora or any other brand also keep in mind alot of these people that do these types of shows do it to sell knifes so again if it works for you then get it.
why not buy 2? use 1 like cody dude
cool
k thx
nope
cool
