Gotta press and hold the phone button and OK button (phone button slightly first) then hold them down at same time for a good 5 - 10 seconds. Then it comes on where you can scroll to ASSYST and it's easy from there. You also need to be in position 1, which is press the start engine button quickly once without starting the engine (no foot on brake). After you're done confirming that the service was done, start engine as you normally do and the message should be gone. Amazing that the owner's manual doesn't tell you how to do this. Only good thing in owners manual is they tell you the oil grade to select (it's 229.5 for a 2019 GLA 250). Owners manual also is not clear on how to change the key FOB battery. It makes one wonder if MB is on cahoots with MB dealers and want people to be forced to go to a MB dealer. I had Service A come on, and that's simply an oil change. I called MB dealer, and they wanted $290 to do it, I almost laughed out loud. I called a reputable local car tire and service chain and they did full synthetic oil change for $80, so easy decision. But local chain didn't know how to reset the Service A message, so thank goodness for the internet and TH-cam.
Labor rates are through the roof at dealers with $250 an hour in California. Services starts at 1.3 hours and can go into multiple hours when doing a large services depending on what is due for replacement based on miles and age of the vehicle. Its great to save money just make sure you're keeping up with the service schedule in your manual. Some dealers offer free inspections that will help you keep up with the car, of course that will mean doing some of the work yourself or finding a good mechanic to help you.
It needs to be key on first position only the srs light should be on with parking light on. Do not do it on key on because it will not work ( key on is all the lights on the display)
Anyone having difficulty should try pressing the phone key first then the OK key...maybe a half second or so before....it worked for me. 2019 CLA 250

i don’t get it. I have a 2018 and it doesn’t have a key, it’s a push start engine..
You can pop the grey push start button off with your finger and your key fob plugs directly into it.
Can I choice; OIl Grade 229.3 .or must use 229.52 ? Thank you .
