I'm Lao and I have Thai friends from Bangkok who understand Lao perfectly. Most of the taxi drivers in Bangkok also say they understand Lao from Laos much easier than Lao spoken by people from Isaan. And for anyone who can not hear very well what language Alexandra is speaking, I can assure you that she speaks Lao with a true Lao accent. The hosts seem to not have any problem understanding her either. She's very cool, comfortable, and unpretentious - great representations of Lao character.

Some Lao people think that Thai people despise their country but i think that's not true. just when Thai teenagers want to say about somebody that do something quit not well we say 'Lao'. im so sory about that and i cant explain why the fuck that slang is happen. To Amnaj Kittitornsap Yes, regarding Alexandra; her accent is closer to northern Thai accent than Isan accent. She was interviewed on Thai TV show, but she spoke Lao to the Thai interviewers. She's really a kick- ass girl.
Both northern Thai accent and Isan accent are technically Lao accents because they both stem from the Lao language, but northern Thai accent has retained more qualities of our northern Lao accent, while Isan accent generally sounds like it has some Khmer in it.

@laoboitube That's right. :) But I also want to point out that the pronouns Khoi(via Kha-noi ข้าน้อย) and Jao(เจ้า) do exist in Thai, but they're obsolete. They are rather archaic(like the use of "thou" in English for example.) If you like watching Thai dramas and movies, sometimes you might hear "jao" being used. Have you seen Suriyothai? In the film, "jao" is used so many times.
She didn't speak 100% Lao that's why they could understand each other. She spoke Loa with a lot of Thai words. But that's more and more common Laos as Loas seem to borrow a lot of Thai words and used as their own and seem to believe that they belong to their culture.

while listening to the song i did hear familiar thai words that i always hear in thai lakorn but i did start to hear other words that wasnt familiar or almost the same but it seems to be pronoucne differently...is that right?...so lao contains some thai words too right? aniwase thanks i learned something new today
Actually the root of Thai and Lao is from China. Khmers were already in that region when the ethnic Tai people of southern China migrated south. Modern Thai and Lao language and writing is deprived from being part of the Khmer empire and their influences from India.

it depends who spoken with gifted voice because some Lao lady that speak Lao can be sound awful just some Thai persons can have very soft melodious just like Sandra so just like i said it depend which person voice otherwise everybody will use voice for living

I confirm. Thais understand 80%+ of what Lao people are speaking. It's very similar... almost the same langauge but different dialect.
