That’s so hilarious. These girls are so lovable and funny. I have friends who are Vietnamese and they are very good people. I enjoyed this video. Thanks Tom you made my day!
These Vietnam market people could thrive at any flea market or swap meet in any hood in america. They got their hustle down pact and I respect that. I also respect the way that Tom was in there driving a hard bargain with them. This was a dope video!
Great video. I like the way you bargained. Hilarious and full of respect. Kudos! The first saleslady was just amazing & funny. Hoping to go back to HCMC since my last visit in early June this year.
Tom is a Legend 🤣🤣😆😂🤣 She tried to charm sting his wallet and his reply" you need to go to the hospital" was killing me laughing hard lol 😂😂🤣 😅 🤣 Good sense of humour from both sides 😅
Tom you are a super smart haggler and the ladies fall for your charm and good looks...lol. Good thing you know your prices. you make great videos, enjoy watching them !
Ben Thanh is for tourists. Go two or three blocks out to pay what Vietnamese pay. I go to Ben Thanh to talk to cute girls and be entertained. Two girls from there took me site seeing afterwork. It can be a lot of fun.
Tom, great video and wonderful bargaining tips. You seem to have had a lot of fun and those sales girls are good in making sales. My wife would love shopping there....So, I may not tell her or show her about your shopping expereince . The Emerald Hotel is good and so claose to a few things and Grab is also availble there.
Everything comes down to the rents......rents in other markets in the city cost a fraction of this central market....that's why everything in this market is expensive......Every products and services in the central city is 50% if not 70% more expensive than other areas ......And people wonder why food vendors walking around with their stalls are selling such cheap food.
Hi Tom, fun video shopping at the market, bargaining with the ladies. Bless your heart knowing the items is overpriced yet you brought some of them. Since the pandemic, the sales ladies are just trying to make extra and you made it happen (smile) Have a lovely time here in Siagon. May God be with you always. From Chicago USA
Ben Thanh market is a touristy spot. Price is exorbitant. But then their rental is also high. This fact nobody realised it. 🤣🤣🤣 I love Vietnam 🇻🇳 ❤️ P/s: 650k??? Hahaha... that's a ripped off... hat prolly cost under 100k. Round neck T-shirt is under 150k. Opposite Takashimaya mall is Saigon Square. Lots of clothes there too
I always start very low on my offers, especially when they start very high. Then add they come down I go up only a small bit because I know what my limit is to make the buy. Often I'll get it for less than my limit. Sometimes I'll go a little over. My limit is always a fair price for the product. For example, I can buy $3 tshirts here locally so I'm not going to pay that for a t-shirt over there.
Hello Tom good to see you having fun with the girls they're so beautiful but too young for me. I can't believe it's charged so much money for the clothes and shoes
Love it T, I think was in the same market early 2016 bought a pair of flip flops and I think a load of other random stuff can't remember what I paid funny enough I had those flip flops only up until 3months ago so not that bad of a deal, I guess that girl may have been telling the truth about the good quality ! Bought a pair on beach Rd pattaya aswel first time in thailand early 2014 100baht I don't I even bargained for them that was the price and I think they were better but a cleaner in a hostel in Sydney threw them out. Anyways hope scoot over SEA again soon the withdrawals are real !!!
Haggling is really a battle of the minds. As buyers, we know that sellers put big markups to their prices. But it's the art of bringing down the price that makes you feel good.
Cost to produce a shirt is anywhere between 0,11 Euro-cent to 0,75~ Euro-cent in Vietnam. It depends on the volume of the batch run they did. If they mass produce a shirt or hat in bulk it drives the price down significantly, i've seen batches go as low as 0,03 Euro-cent but that's extremely rare. If you account for the stall renting, the hourly wage, and the cost to transport the shirt to the vendor stall then you were still massively overpaying. Locals pay anywhere between 40 Euro-cent to about 1 Euro (in Vietnamese Dong). About 2 Euros for a shirt is a fair price for a foreigner. They prey on tourists that don't know that Vietnam is a massive fabric producing country and hope they will pay Western brand prices so 15+ Euros for a shirt. Also most of the products aren't actually fakes, they fell off the truck or fell off the factory floor to sell locally or sell in the black market, it's the same quality, but it might miss a certain 'label', a stitch or an actual 'certificate of authenticity' that would render it an official brand product. Some of the vendors do buy the actual goods directly from a factory at a steep discount though. So the factories when they get a order for lets say 3 million shirts, they do another few hundred thousand on top of that batch run for the local markets. This drives the cost to produce down significant, and the cost is charged to the Western company whom ordered the 3 million units.
Really enjoyed this video Tom, pretty funny. When I was in the car business Vietnamese people were the worst to deal with. I think you did a great job and had some fun at the same time.. 🙏🙏🙏
@@TheWelwyn21 You're a dunce. That First Lady was charging him 600k ($25 USD) for that hat. That's the same price I'd pay for that here in the States maybe even $5 cheaper. They love tourists like you🙃
that was a fun video to watch in fact i watched it 3 times please make another one of these before u leave vietnam. i am subscribed to ur a chanel i'm also subscribed to u and mjs vlog
Sellers are so kuliit ( naughty )😁. Sometimes I have no tolerance over those kuliit sellers😅 . Their strategy is to offer you more thing that you never want😁Did you ever try riding in a bus then they offer you foods , many sellers. They will help to carry your bags then you have to buy their commodity. Happy bargaining 😅

How can you film and having your hands free? Do you use a cheast mount or something?
Bargaining in an area full of scammers. Awesome plan to spend the day
Even the overpriced items are a steal of a deal!
What a fun day you had in the market. ✌

There good hustlers. Give them credit. I'm sure they don't make much. Handsome man pay good.
When you haggling you have to pretend to walk away. I do it all the time especially in Flea markets
Nice tactic and it works most of the time.😁
Before walking away, tell them that the other shop offered a better price and you'll go back to that shop.
You don't have to haggle the prices are really cheap anyway. It makes you come across as a skinflint
This market is actually way overpriced
