As he mentioned, statistics shows almost 100% of self defense encounters don’t require a reload. To have a spare magazine is only for personal emotional comfort.
ALWAYS CARRY A SPARE MAG! Anyone who thinks their carry pistol won't ever malfunction is sadly over optimistic. Also, there's videos out there of guys taking 11-16 rounds and still operational enough to keep engaging. A spare mag on my weak side hip has never been a burden to me. In fact, it makes me feel balanced due to having my weapon on the strong side hip for some reason. 🤨
My EDC is a single stack 9mm with 7+1. I always carry a spare mag, not for the additional capacity, but because magazines can cause reliability issues. The extra capacity is a nice plus.
Kinda tough not to carry 2 in CA with a max mag of 10 💀💀
@@JawhBoyLeaf gotta get out of there!
YES !!
If you have a malfunction with your pistol it’s almost always
magazine/ammo related.
Secondly we have cartels and Kia bois running three/four guys deep. This isn’t the America you daddy and his 6 shot revolver grew up in.
Truthfully I carry with a trex sidecar. I run a tourniquet instead of a spare mag I train enough and trust my equipment ( my mag ). That it won’t fail also keep my carry mag oem only I tend to stay away from places that I’ll think I need another mag on body. However I do have 2 full size mags on the outside of my med kit in my truck.
@@tommybenford9891 Nice! Prioritizing med equipment over a spare mag is great. Realistically you’re likely to need that more than a spare mag, good stuff! 👊🏻
I carry 4 with me
Another banger my brother! Seriously loved this video. Gonna send to my team!
@@thePreparedFather Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Not sure why this is even a question. You should ALWAYS carry a spare magazine. 100% of the time. Not only for extra rounds but because the magazine is the most fragile part of the firearm. It could break or malfunction at anytime.
Lol
I appreciate the shout-out, bud!
@@TheSuitedShootistAbsolutely!
Survival wisdom: Two is one, one is none. Magazines fail. Type 3 malfunction more likely caused by mag than broken extractor, so best to replace mag with new.
They say statistically civilian reloads rarely occur. The same can be said about needing a gun for self defense. How many days have you carried a gun and not needed it, versus how many days you've actually had to use it, and yet you carry anyway. Same with a spare mag. We fantasize about senerios and feel comfortable in our solutions, including equipment, to deal with them, but for every senerio we imagine, there are hundreds we haven't that are also real threats. Being paranoid isn't helpful, but being prepaired is.
Took the words right out of my mouth! Of course I want everyone to carry period. Whether it be appendix, 4 o’clock, or even off body in a bag. Carrying is the most important part. But there are too many what ifs to really say how and which way is best. It’s a tricky subject but I like seeing everyone’s perspective on the matter
Another easy way to put it, go on the search bar and check police shoot out video. A lot of these body cam shows officers reloading at least one time. I’m pretty sure they are grateful to have the spare mag or 2.
I carry a reload because I’m malfunctions
I appendix/sidecar holster. And extra mag. That a total 57 rounds. And a KBAR knife if I’m out of ammo.
I carry a bodyguard 2.0, lighter then a 15rd 9mm mag lol
Why did you even waste a video on this? YES! Carry two or three extra magazines! And don’t forget to carry a round in chamber.
I see lots of comments saying, "Yes! What if your mag/ammo malfunctions" and "Mags/ammo are the most likely to fail" - All true - but you already lost the fight if you think you're going to be quick enough to pull, find out the malfunction, drop a mag, pull a mag and insert/re-rack. You're already gone, man.
