In this video, Rich Renken, GM of James Tyler Guitars, walks you through the functions and purposes of the midboost plus series/split/parallel settings as well as how to use neck/bridge on. This is a Studio Elite 1987 but this should be helpful for anyone with a lead/rhythm circuit. It can also help you if you just have a Studio Elite HD with the added series/parallel buttons.
Rich breaks down the controls into five sections and explains how they work together:
1. 5-way switch and volume
2. Mid-boost button and control knob
3. The three pickup selectors (series/split/parallel)
4. Neck + Bridge On button (Tyler option)
5. Lead/rhythm switch
Plus, as an extra treat, learn how to achieve David Williams' iconic "Billie Jean" guitar sound.
Phenomenal! A video i can watch again and again! Thanks for the clarifying info! I hope to get a James Tyler someday!
Unreal guitars and a great video. That's a lot to get across but you did an excellent job of explaining everything. I love the finishes and obviously the guitars are absolutely amazing.
FANTASTIC video!! What a great resource for folks that want to learn about all these awesome innovations that Jim was creating decades ago! So cool. Great work, Rich! 🤘🎸
Speaking of the 80's. I have a James Tyler logo-ed Strat shaped neck from 1985. It was installed on a Casio PG-380 guitar synth that I bought at the Sherman Oaks Guitar Center back in the early 2010's. It's a nice smooth easy feeling and playing neck. I have tried to contact Tyler about decoding some identifying information written on the butt of the neck, but got the impression they didn't want to talk about it at all.
This is an awesome explanation, thank you. Just saw the Herman t-shirt. Sold! Please consider adding a few more shirts/logo designs? Cali-script, explogo, Layered-Tyler front... Either you know or don't on the back.
Dig it, Rich!
Rich, thanks for helping me out with my guitar! Pete fixed it up for me last week and I LOVE the tonal characteristics you all added!
This is a cool start to the weekend 🎉🎉
Thanks for the explanation Rich! Was wondering about this for a long time!
Love this video.
Would've loved to hear the tones haha
a very wise man once said "you would, though it were playing" 🤣
I want one. Wild West Guitars carries them.
