    Sterling HTP static rope would be a good option for reeving a temporarly halyard to ascend the mast.

      I agree! The only issue is that for most cruising boats we really want to carry things that can be used for more than one purpose. In our case, the "lifeline halyard" doubles as the manual furling line for our genoa. So for us this best works as a Dacron double braid.

      @@billkinney4794 that's a fair point! I have been bending static rope onto my halyards, which are endura braid. I wasn't aware of the long term damage to the core so I'll definitely get longer rope for climbing. As a secondary benefit, I"ll no longer have to tape up my Tylaska shackles to keep them from chipping my mast paint ;)
