We didn’t have hurricanes in Kansas City, but when I lived there years ago, we would have bad storms, high winds, tornados etc and my grill blew through my kitchen window! It was on our two tiered deck and the wind just picked it up and threw it through the window- scared the crap out of me, because I was sitting at the kitchen table when it happened. Anyhow, good you are battening down the hatches! Hope you ride out the storm safely! ❤

Og goodness, I prayed for you all during Beryl. We just had Debby here in northern Florida, and it was scary. Lots of people have had it way worse than us; Many still waiting for the rivers to crest. I did everything I coul here. We lost 2 big trees and one came down on my brother in law's semi trailer. But, we're thankful that was all. I know it gets active this time of year, so I have batteries, battery operated lanterns, a 2 burner Coleman stove, a percolator, first aid stuff, instant coffee and dry creamer, and I've had my son and husband cleaning up the yard that has been being put off. Losing electricity is also awful hwre in northern Florida. I told my husband I'd go stay with family if we lost power. Lol (I laugh, but only a little. I have medical reasons. I overheat easily and have sleep apnea and have to upe a BiPap machine.)
You know what I was just thinking, as your husband was taking and putting the plants up, that would really help you's out alot! Is to get a Multi-purpose trolley, that way you can pick up between 2-3 Plants at a time!😊😊
Hello Tina and Rob. Tina, with the rain and wind, you should put all your potted plants in the garage. The wind will strip your plants. All the best. ( yes, I’ve been through cyclones all my life)
Rob must be a ninja moving that windmill so fast. Praying for you guys. I live in west coast of Florida so I know about prepping for a hurricane. I’m surprised you can find any gas or bread, water etc on the day before. Here you can’t find anything when it’s that close. ❤🙏
We used to push the swings around the top until the chain would go any more. Unless they are hooked onto the side where there don’t come loose, they may come loose. The one thing many people forget is the garbage cans. I’ve seen fully loaded ones floating down the road or pushed over and everything going everywhere. My condos compost city bin was in front of my garage during a storm. I had to go put it near my unit and just made into my garage when the power went out. I didn’t have my phone near me, so once inside the main part of the building, hallway in the garage part, no windows, had to feel my way out. Knocking on my indoor access door for my son to let me in. I grabbed the keys that only had the garage door key. With things flying around in a storm, you take what is easiest to find. Writing this, I need to mount a flash light or some small light on the wall of my garage by the door so I can see things. You forget about not having street lights when you have windows in the garage.
I am praying that the storm passes quickly for you. My sister in Magnolia said the first wave passed over her fairly quickly and now she just has a light drizzle. Second wave won't be getting to her till later this afternoon. 💖🙏💖
