Jesus the progress is real fast for a change. Seems like noone was expecting the northern front to open.
I think it is more that the Ukrainian forces have run out of steam. The counter offensive wasn't popular and it sapped morale. When it failed, it left the Ukrainian troops entirely demoralized and caused them to lose confidence in their commanders. The Russian attacks have been aimed at those units most mangled by the offensive and those with the most new conscripts.

@@changlouriousbasterd9524 the biggest issue was lack of materials. From the sound of it Chasiv Yar was first to be resupplied and Kharkiv is receiving Artillery, ATGM, and air defense missiles.
@chrissmith7669 It was a bit of both. The lack of fortifications made it difficult. The govt officials and bureaucrats supposed to be overseeing it and distributing the wealth have been siphoning it away. The money is disappearing with nothing to show for it. Basically the line didn't really exist so they were in soft cover. It's why so many units have abandoned their positions as the Russians advanced.

Yanukovych fled to Russia and asked Putin to invade Ukraine so he could stay in power as leader of a Ukrainian Russian puppet state and a few weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine Russia set up two fake puppet states in the east: the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics as well as seized Crimea from Ukraine. The 14k dead Ukrainians was a result of shelling from the Russian side in battles to take more of Ukraine on the Donbas frontline.
