Gritter! I learned a new word for sander/road salter. Nice. I bet you didn’t know you were a language teacher at an international school.😂👍 Another good job. Thanks.
The Worst Things to work on my bro are Hydrostatic Turbine Sweepers & a Black Bag Dustcart. Gritters are way down the list They Like to Rot This Prob has a PCI Or Loom Fault to the Transmission... They are Poo.....
Hi Michael, most trucks and coaches have an oil pump in the gearbox for lubrication, this pump is driven by the input shaft from the engine, if the engine isn't running and the vehicle is towed then the gearbox is turning via the wheels which doesn't work the oil pump, this will seize the gearbox or wreck it so the drive must be disconnected mate
Towing any car with the driven wheels still connected to an auto box is a no no. Turning to the gritter when Foden built them they stainless steel for fasteners & pipe work. They were also painted in rubberised paint, with fibreglass cabs.@@kensjobs2237
I liked the gritty realisim of the video.

Top Tip - Put the pin in from the back of the slipper - then insert the clip - Easier to do, easier to double check! - Great vid

those spring brackets are a great accessory!
Excellent video, and that gritter was in quite good condition, they are usually worse than horse boxes to work on!

Yeah, that's not going anywhere! Just for interest, did the gritter have its own name like lots running in Scotland do?
Try putting the slipper pins in from the inside making it much easier to install the retaining pins. You’re not working blind that way.
Yea it was just tricky as I was holding the phone in one hand and trying to work one handed, I need a camera man mate 🎥😂
Just out of curiosity, why do you have to dis-connect the final drive for towing, you don't have to do that to tow a car.
