    I remember seeing this movie back in the late 2000's when it hit DVD. I recall Leslie dying earlier in the film, and Jess imaging that she was still alive, and would only see her in Terabithia. I'm lowkey glad that wasnt how it went, because I feel as if that would just add to an already darker tone. i finally sat down to rewatch it today, after nearly 15 years. Didn't think I'd cry that much.

      It's insane to think they're making little kids in schools watching this as part of the curriculum. Too cruel. I still suffer from crippling depression just bc of that movie even after a long time without watching it. Just thinking about the movie makes me miserable. The edits are very intense asw. And the worst part is not that Leslie died in the movie, but the fact that the concept of a girl that's that nice, that smart and that perfect died with the movie as no other one like her exists in real life. Very fvked up.

    No words in the world can describe how much this film touched and influenced me back then. Until today. First saw it when I was 11 (like Jesse and Leslie) and now I'm 25. I've never experienced the emotions that this film made me feel again.

    The ending never felt satisfying to me because it just makes you wonder what the rest of his life will be like without Leslie. If they wanted a tragic ending they could have had them both drown and have it end with them in Terabithia as their afterlife or something, but at least they wouldn't lose each other.

      The son of the author of the book that this movie is based on had a friend who died by being struck by lightning. The author said that she wanted Leslie’s death to fell sudden and unsatisfying, since that’s how it feels in real life.

    I watched it Yesterday for the First time and really touched and broke me in a good way
    it reminded me of my first best friend and our shared years before we lost more and more connection until the friendship ended this year
    even though the person is still alive, it certainly feels like a kind of death because you have to say goodbye to these old precious times that might never come back with that person
    this film reminded me still to value these precious shared moments together but also to say farewell to it and embrace the other Friends i have now like when jess lead his sister into Terabithia
    it can never be exactly the same with another person, but you can still move on and make great Connection with other people around you
    this movie is really powerful and this is Just one of even more messages you can take from the movie
    thanks for this video about it ❤

    What made Leslie Burke attractive wasn't her blonde hair and blue eyes.
    No.
    What made her attractive is that she loved the people around her and she was grateful -- thankful and grateful -- for her life.
    And this makes attractive and happy people.

    Read the book in fifth grade. We read many great books back then. A great book for children and adults alike. To think, the author was inspired by true events to put into words what it’s like to lose somebody very special to you. The book is a must read, and film does a great job bringing it to life.

    I used to watch bridge to terabithia a lot as a kid because I didn’t understand the death part and finally about 2-3 months ago I got reminded of it and searched as far as I can for an explanation or ending o anything that wrapped it up but I just don’t get it its just straight up depressing

      It’s about grief and regret. It’s sad but it’s comforting in some ways. Jess regrets not inviting Leslie to go to the museum and thinks her death was his fault when it wasn’t. He spends the last 15 minutes of the movie denying that she died and lookin for her thinking she might still be alive, realizing she’s actually dead, and in someways accepting her death. It’s the stages of grief. It’s definitely a heavy topic that’s hard for kids to understand but it is such a good movie.

    I have one problem with the film: It's too short. Instead of a real fight against the Dark Master, which Jess doesn't win, until he discovers, what he is really fighting, the Dark Master only appears for a short time.

    i cant help but to wonder why would they make a such sad movie for kids? Was it to send some kind of message or what?

    • @rudraakram3879
      @rudraakram3879 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      It was written by Katherine Paterson because her son’s best friend died in a lightning.

      @@rudraakram3879 Yeah i am aware it was based of a novel. But i find it wierd why they would greenlight such a traumatizing and sad movie for little kids.

      I read somewhere that she wrote the book to help kids with grief, can't say how true that is or not. Besides the book being based on her son and his childhood friend

      I lost my older brother when I was 5. He basically took care of me. I lost a close friend at 8. My best friend 11. And my dad at 13. Trust me. Things like this need to exist. The world is not all sunshine and rainbows and sometimes people need a good story to learn hope to deal with it. Even kids.

    • @slizardkelly8460
      @slizardkelly8460 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because many kids do go through sad things including grief early on in life. Everyone will experience grief at some point. Sheltering and hiding kids from grief makes them unprepared when it inevitably happens in real life. Sad movies like these also teach empathy and compassion

    Whoever was in charge of MWR (moral welfare & recreation) at Camp Warhorse (Baqouba, Iraq) in 2007 should be fired. They showed THIS MOVIE to already traumatized soldiers during an active military conflict. What the heck were they thinking?
