I love this nazm. I grew up listening to the songs aired from radio Pakistan. It was late 60s era. TV was newly introduced but its transmission was telecast in the evenings only. In the early mornings and day time radio Pakistan presented various melodious programs airing the evergreen songs and compositions from legendry singers and musicians. My interest in the Urdu poetry grew from listening to these enchanting songs and it greatly improved my Urdu language too as in school days i was quite weak in Urdu. Naheed's voice was so different from other female singers'. It was mesmerizing, simple and catching. Truly the Nightingale of Pakistan ❤️❤️ We still love you and miss you. Stay blessed graceful lady 🌹🌹
This Nazm is from the 70s. I lived in karachi then, it was my school days. There were very few households having TV, 1 or 2 in the whole block, but Radio was a Permanent Must in every home. Radio Pakistan Karachi used to play Filmi songs, Ghazals and Raag Ragnis all day long. News bulletins were the only break. This Mesmerising Nazm by Naheed Niazi was a regular feature every few days. It was played mostly in the early morning hours 7 to 11 am. Since Radios were on in every house, playing whatever song was on, the same song heard from every house as one moved along. Those days, Walking to school, many a days, when RPK aired it, I would hear sound of "IK BAAR PHIR KAHO ZARA" coming from many houses that I walked past on my way to school. This being of a longer than usual duration of songs i would keep hearing it almost reaching the school. Great days and very Dear Memories associated with this Timeless Gem.
@@nahidniazi Blessings from California. The spontaneous flow of sentimentality in this epic nazm remains unmatched to date. It will remain a 'must listen' piece with me very frequently also because your rendering of the 'nayaab nazm' is absolutely magical. Eagerly awaiting your autobiography. Thank General Zia-Ul-Haq for killing the spirit of song and poetry in Pakistan.
Not seventies, but late fifties. Originally sung by Shamshad begum.
what a decent ghazal' poetry and lyrics . Spings from heart and sensetising the whole soma and soul.
Simplicity of lyrics, specifically Persian words are used in poetry. A great composition.
