Enneagram Object Relations: Community of Practice October 2023

Don Riso and Russ Hudson integrated Object Relations theory into the Enneagram of Personality.
An object relation describes mental representations of the self, the other, and the relationship between self and other.
The Enneagram Object Relations describe an underlying "Dominant Affect” , a challenging dominant underlying feeling we live with in relationships, especially our most primary relationships.
In this session we explored the basics of the Object Relations patterns and how to build distress tolerance for the dominant affect so that we can experience greater ease in relationships, as described by the Virtues.
Why is this so important? The dominant feelings in each Triad are deeply embodied, fundamental to our “default” emotional state, and infuse almost every aspect of our life. If unconscious, they run the whole show, with costly consequences.
The Object Relations Triads are: 825 = The Rejection Triad. 936 = The Attachment Triad. 147 = The Frustration Triad.

Ingrid Hurwitz is the Founder of Takdīr Transformation. (www.takdir.co.za).
She has 25 years of experience in designing learning programmes and facilitating experiential psychospiritual transformation processes.
She established Takdīr (Now an IEA-Accredited Enneagram School) in 2015.
She is passionate about healing as a foundation for us all to have a self-experience of joy and authentic connection to life and to one another and is dedicated to providing advanced Trauma-Informed Enneagram Practitioner Training for therapists, coaches, facilitators, spiritual directors and other healing professionals.
A significant part of her training involves helping Enneagram practitioners to use the latest trauma knowledge to facilitate clients becoming safely embodied in the here and now and to work with the Enneagram in safe, ethical and unshaming ways. Her work draws on Cognitive Science, Somatic Psychology, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Spiritual Traditions. She is currently writing a Ph.D. on the Enneagram path and furthering her trauma studies with the TRF, NARM and NICABM.
