Thank you 😊. I'm glad you enjoyed my camp. I'm usually on my own so im used to it now! Couldn't agree more, we do need to stick together and i think we will grow and eventually things will happen! 👍
It was amazing, never thought I'd see so many turn up. Yeah the DNPA appealing the outcome is fantastic. I feel really hopeful for the future of Dartmoor! 😃
Me and my friend were about 1 km behind you as you crossed the Yealm, but we stayed high and camped slightly to the west of it, but remember seeing you walking back up the hill once you'd crossed! We seemed to be the only people who went west after the protest! Great video and definitely subscribing for more videos!
Oh ok i remember looking back and seeing some more people following the edge of the field to start coming down over it. So that would probably have been you, perhaps. I really didn't know where to camp. Never been to that part of Dartmoor before, but i had a plan and was determined to see it through! 😆 Thanks for the sub 👍
Hey man, another well made and enjoyable video dude! Glad you decided to make it to the top for the camp. Already looking forward to the next vid! Take care.
Hey Ben. Thanks for the comment! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Yeah I'm definitely glad i made the push to where i wanted to camp. It was a slog, but worth it. There was nothing remotely scenic on my walk up that made me want to stop there and camp. Will be a few weeks for the snowy one! 😉
Great vid mate. Sorry I missed it, not sure I would’ve been ok pitching my tent for the first time in the dark 😂 What a great turnout. Nice bit of Dartmoor legends too.
It was a great adventure! if not a bit rushed, but unfortunately, this time of year there just isn't enough hours in the day to do it all! ☹️ Very good turn out, and the old Crocken was a very fitting tale.
i Admire what you have done,as i have been going to dartmoor before you was born. But you should have another sign saying"stop the chav campers" the amount of rubbish i have cleared up on the moors .And since covid its got alot worse, now i have a black sack on me all the time. debs xx
Hey, thanks. I've only just been wild camping on Dartmoor since last year so I never saw the state it got during COVID. Apparently it got pretty bad. "Chav campers" not heard that term before but I like it! Yeah I usually pick up others rubbish but hardly see any tbh! Thanks for the comment and doing what you do. If only more people had your/our mindset we wouldn't be in this mess at all! 👍
Good job raising awareness and standing against the greedyrich selfish landowner. Have you ever thought to take a few eggs with you to boil in the water next morning when you make tea/coffee? Wrap them well, they're not heavy....instant hot breakfast!
Hey thanks for the comment and the support! I was expecting some negative comments but so far nothing! Thats actually a pretty good idea! Now to think of a way to guarantee i don't end up with scrambled egg in my bag! 👍
Thanks for your good work on bringing the problems to everyone's attention, Dartmoor is one of those places that wild camping was legal , its becoming a bit of a joke with the UK government and some tiffie nosed land owners stopping our rights to be in nature. Years ago you could camp on common land and that is know longer legal and this needs to be stopped you should be able to camp on common land as long as you leave the land as you found it and take away all your rubbish when you leave.
Thanks for the comment and support. I tried my best to cover the issue but most of the info was way over my head! I totally agree, we are slowly being stripped of all our rights by this government and we can't let it happen. Anyone with and interest in what's happening with Dartmoor should be standing up and being heard!
Don't stop. I find this whole situation insane. Im from Australia and my biggest fear is citizens being blocked from camping in parks. Its very insidious. It should be free and open to all. Some indigenous peoples recently was able to block non indigenous climbing a mountain recently, there's big backlash.
Hey, thanks for the comment and supporting our right to wild camp. Have you heard about our problem from all the way down under? If so thats crazy! We only have Dartmoor to legally camp out of the whole of England which only make up 2-3% everywhere else is banned. Scotland has the complete opposite law, which it is their right to virtually camp anywhere they like! Its disgusting how we are having our rights and freedom slowly stripped away from us. We do not intend to give up. It's just the beginning!
I do not understand. "Dartmoor National Park" how can a NATIONAL park be owned by an individual. Here in Australia a NATIONAL PARK is just that, an area of land owned by the nation, that is the land is owned by the Commonwealth Government, similarly with State Parks. and area owned by the State, there are certain things you are permitted to do and there are things that you are not permitted to do
I really don't understand it either. Up until not too long ago i was under that impression too but it would seem that individual land owners can privatise common land for their own gain and greed and we are just expected to be ok with that.
@@gone_a_little_wild Here in Queensland we have National parks and State Parks, you can own land inside these parks but, it was land that had been held prior to the park being gazetted. If any State or Commonwealth Government attempted to sell off gazetted national/state park land the people would drag them through the streets with ropes around their necks. Seems to me that certain persons may be the beneficiary of some dubious accounting/ double dealing. If the local elected member is not prepared to severe his connections to his pay stream.....when is the next election, rouse up the people and elect a new member who is prepared to stand up for what is right.
@Robo there is definitely some corruption behind this, local mp's getting back hand payments and government party's being donated thousands by this land owner Darwall. Corruption is definitely rife here! We need to be like you lot and take no sh!t!
Obviously the land owner is following the sacred texts of the rich and greedy which goes - " He who owns the land owns the people ". We need to remind such individuals the land belongs to us all ...
Exactly, this is happening too much just lately. How sad that the only space we can legally camp is dartmoor and even that is now under threat! Thanks for the comment 👍
It was an illegal ruling. The whole concept of landownership needs to be re-examined. The fact individuals can own vast swaiths of land with no agricultural or business purpose is ludicrous!
Its a shame indeed, but more so, being able to buy common land then immediately start to restrict access to said land by closing entrances and car parks to make it near impossible to even walk there. Then try to ban wild camping on his land! That should never be allowed to happen!
why did all them protesters not pich there tents and campt as it would of made more of an impact in sted of banging drums and whistels and frightning all the wild life and thats so sad a silent protes would have been beter
A mass camp would have gone against the rules laid out by the DNPA where you can only camp in small groups. We would have made ourselves look bad in media doing things that we are not supposed to be doing, which is exactly the excuse Darwall is trying to ban wild camping!
