@@LockedOnGiantsNFL Obviously, but if a great talent like Travis Hunter falls into our hands, who's playing in a position that we need to improve in CB, and could cover as WR2 since Slayton will most likely leave us, then we deserve to be bad for very very long. When a huge talent falls into your lap, you take it.
I have to add that i agree on the QB class. I just think there's great talent in other positions that i wouldn't trade away from. Arguably even take ahead of a QB this year
Hi Patty! The highest rated QBs in the draft Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are likely to go #1 and #2 overall. The Giants need to take Travis Hunter at #3 OR take the best trade down offer that nets them the most picks. I would trade down after selecting Travis Hunter.
Patti, you are spot on. We definitely do not want to just draft a quarterback because we feel like we need to. If they don't have conviction then they should not draft one of those two and get the best available player in the draft or draft down to get more picks like you said, I totally agree
Love the show Patty but I don’t agree with trading back here. Remember when Gettleman got cute in the 2021 draft and traded back with Chicago and bypassed drafting Micah Parsons and Rashawn Slater who both turned into Pro Bowl players. In return we got more draft capital which equated to Evan Neal and Kadarius Toney. Take the best player available
If you can’t get or don’t want either Ward or Sanders, then it makes sense to trade back for more picks. But anyone who wants to trade up for a non QB such as Hunter, is not giving you a kings ransom to move a few spots. Hypothetically, if the Giant could pick up an extra 3rd or 3rd and 5th to move down say 3 spots and still get Graham, Carter or Johnson I Iwould do it. But no one is giving you ones or twos to move up a few spots for a non QB.
No QB coming out of college is a slam dunk no player is a slam you have to develop them. CAM WARD IS WAY MORE POLISHED THEN DRAKE MAY GO LOOK AT THE TAPE. LOOK AT CALEP WILLIAMS.
It’s a great academic conversation, but what’s the point. We couldn’t /wouldn’t take any of the six last year and we won’t get either of the two this year.
What Should New York Giants Do in First Round of Draft? In my opinion obviously QB should be first priority, but if Ward & Sanders are off the board then Giants have a hard choice, because there are 3 players that can make a huge difference on the Giants. (Hunter cb/wr), ( Carter edge), & (Graham DL) or Giants can trade back, but I would not trade out of the top 5.
Giants should go out there and sign Russell Wilson as a two year bridge, regardless of whether they take a quarterback at the top of the drive or developmental guide
We take Travis Hunter,,than go get Jalen milroe,,,than we rebuild,,if not we will be back here in the same place,, and all will be fired both if we are in this spot in the next 3 years,,,😔😞😞😞
Getting a bridge QB may be the way to go but it scares me bc I don’t think there are good options out there. As for Cousins, he is not mobile. Maybe Jimmy G or Fields…although Jimmy is injury prone. I think even after getting the bridge QB they’ll have to get a good back up in case the bridge gets hurt. I’m not confident in Tommy. Maybe the flier rookie QB can be a backup? So hard when the QB is the first priority but there are so many other needs.
I’d inquire about Stafford once season is over… draft a kid like Dart in round 2…. Another QB I’d ask about is Detroits Hendon Hooker…. See what they would want
Draft Shedeur Sanders if he's available or trade down and draft either edge rusher Abdul Carter, DT Mason Graham or OT/OG Kelvin Banks Jr! Coach Prime says recently there's 2 teams he won't allow Shedeur to play for (Titans/Browns)! LOL! 😅 Sanders will be available for the GMEN to draft!
Justin fields, Zach Wilson are in their early 20s. Maybe draft Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter in the first round. And take a QB in the mid rounds and see if you get lucky
Fields or Stafford. Higgins and tre in fa. Trade back a few spots take Carter Graham Johnson or Hunter use the two first rounders next year to trade up and get our quarterback
If, if, if. Minimal to no chance of this happening. All the teams in the top ten are more than one player away from competing. Generally teams will only trade up for a qb. Which team will give up a future 1 or 2 next year along with their first this year for a non qb? Even if this were to happen, the strength of schedule for next year will pretty much assure that the Giants will, once again be pushed down in the draft. Then, even with additional draft choices the Giants will again be at the mercy of teams with worse records with quarterback needs. It didn’t work last year, and most likely won’t work next year. With the third pick, they can either pick draft Will Johnson or Mason Graham. Graham would be my choice and would immediately upgrade the run defense and help the pass defense. Johnson is a stout cornerback who can play against the pass and run. Travis Hunter is a beanpole who will eaten up in the run game. I’d Johnson is taken in the first round, take a defensive tackle in round 2, and the Alabama guard in round 3. If Graham is taken in round 1, still go guard in round 3, and go best player available in round 2. Get a bridge quarterback in free agency.
If they can’t get Ward or Sanders at #3, I think they should draft Hunter, who would be the starting CB and 3rd WR next year. He is too good to pass up esp. when they need help in both CB and WR positions.
I agree that from what I have read Hunter may be a generational player and the BPA. But we need more picks and quality players. I would not be against trading down 2 or 3 spots (if we have a trade partner and a good deal) and still picking up a Carter, Graham or Johnson.
If we can trade back to 6 great. If not this pick is a no brainer, WR Tetairoa McMillan. This pick will give us a true 1-2 WR corps. That would be great. It would give us 2 second round picks. Get the QB in round 3 I like Will Howard
Who does she think is going to allow you to “load up on assets” to move down a few spots? You’re not getting assets for “this year and next” to move a few spots for a non QB. I agree with moving down but if you go from 3 to 6 you would be ecstatic to get a 3rd rounder. No one will give you loads to move a few spots for a non QB. It’s a fantasy.
Please, no trading back. GMen don’t need assets for 2026. They need game changers. Now. Schoen cannot make a mistake in 2025 if he wants to keep his job so why not select Mason Graham, IDL. That soothes Lawrence’s hurt feelings following trade of Williams & it will give the team an identity. GMen were good when the D-Line was good. A D-line with Lawrence, Burns, Thibideux and Graham looks formidable on paper and probably on the field, too. For many years to come.
After the 2 QB’s, there are Hunter, Graham, Carter and Johnson. I would be happy with any of them. So, if someone hypothetically offered a 4th or 4th and 6th to move down a few spots I would grab it.. but I doubt if you would get even that much to move down 2 or 3 spots for a non QB.
If I'm a GM and I need to win this year I'm getting a veteran free agent for QB and drafting O-line and wide outs to help him. Rookie QBs always struggle.
Agree entirely. Totally superficial. However she tries her best and I am a regular follower. If I want more x’s and o’s or in -depth analysis/stats, there are pods like Big Blue Banter or Talkin Giants. But she is definitely a nice person and an easy listen.
None of these QBs will be elite. The team has too many holes to fill. Trade down into the second round to draft interior OL, DL, CB, T. Sign a FA stopgap QB.
-Sign/Trade for a veteran QB. Someone tough that knows how to manage and win a couple games in a shit environment. Someone like a Jimmy G or, and I hate that I'm saying this, but Aaron Rodgers. 2 year stop gap - Trade out of the #3 pick, hopefully pick up a 1st next yr and maybe a 2/3 this yr. Draft a defensive stud or OL - Draft is deep at DT and HB so draft on in the 3rd and 4th. Fill holes with BPA otherwise. This needs to be a rebuilding year that plugs as many holes as we possibly can as best we can. If we see a QB on rounds 2 or 3 go for it, otherwise don't reach or force a QB. Rely on a veteran to come in and hold the fort down.
@@vincentbrancato5146 who on this planet is going to give you a 1, 2 and 3 to move up to #3 for what? The idea is there is no available QB at 3, that’s why we are trading out. You give up those kind of assets for QB’s perceived to be generational prospects, not for CB’s or WR’s.😀
Pretty sure raiders gonna trade up to 1st or 2nd pick..in front of giants for sanders or ward… both of them will be gone… Giants should trade down at this point if possible… or stick & pick hunter or carter….
Pt- Two concerns I would have with your tree down scenario. First, are you saying that you’re going to pass up on potentially a pro bowl or Hall of Fame type player and Travis Hunter when you have need all around your roster? I just don’t think that you should pass up on taking a blue ship prospect. Second, If you’re Brian and you don’t take a quarterback, are you guaranteed to have a job after next season and they get fired knowing that you never got to pick your quarterback? I think by April things are going to change scouting wise as these teams are able to bring guys in and they’re gonna be some quarterbacks like Jackson dart who are gonna rise up the board
Cam Ward or BPA. I like Mason Graham to put next to Dex. Abdul Carter too. Travis Hunter no problem but building the trenches does the most. Then trade back up to get into the first to get Dart
If the Ward and Sanders go 1-2 i would not be opposed to moving down. Sign a Fields who i believe has some up side. I like Graham at DT. Grab a QB in round 2. Cb, Dt or oline all day long.
Pretty much exactly my thoughts. As long as you don’t trade down out of the range for; Graham, Hunter, Carter or Johnson. Which means no further than 6.
We need a " bridge QB " and fill other holes... 2026 is a better QB class including the chance of getting Arch Manning....we WANT THE NEXT MANNING hey we're not going anywhere next year.... Fill holes and get a " bridge QB "
Here's the thing: If we keep trading out of taking great players we'll never be good. Draft the best player available. We need quality EVERYWHERE.
Roster building is not a one-year process. You can't overdraft a guy either.
