Savage orcs are basically now just an upgrade for the orc mobs (warpaint is I believe the upgrade). There is no individual unit for them now. I would imagine the term Savage Orc could be misconstrued to be racist, like the name change from spear chukka to bolt thrower.
I suspect that when the arcane journal for Greenskins comes out that there will be armies of infamy list that will support the subfactions like Savage Orcs and Night Goblins better than the Grand Army list does currently.
My thoughts exactly. Not that GW has a stellar track record for caring what other people have already collected (about 50/50), but there's PLENTY of people who still have Night Goblin armies...
I would guess that they go another way altogether. I think that they will do a mountains list: focus on orcs and night goblins, with less cavalry but ambushy special rules. And a second "wilds" list focus on monsters, savages and forest goblins, with limits on night goblins and black orcs
My first introduction to WHFB I played orcs&goblins and my entire army blew itself up / killed each other before my opponent's first turn . Somehow I was hooked.
It's worth pointing out that there's a lot of flexibility there. I think you can have one unit as skirmishers and also one unit of each core can get a magic banner. We used to be able to have them back in 4th-5th edition but not since.
Savage Orcs will probably be available as a variant army list when the Orc and Goblin Arcane Journal comes out. Also no Night Goblin Fanatics? Or do they come as a upgrade choice for Night Goblin mobs?
I don’t mind the restriction on savage orcs when those frenzied units are so good. The frenzied chariot can have +5 extra attacks from crew+boars and gets a 6+ ward on top of its 4+ base save as a chariot. Wild stuff for such a good price.
I think Savage Orcs will be an army of infamy, because then they will be able to bring in some restrictions on things like war machines, etc, as part of that list.
I think the savage orc list is something that could be a house rule. Its not like orc are particularly OP, so i dont see an issue with ignoring some of the restrictions and going with the rule of cool.
Nice little video. The one I've been waiting for. When I started playing Warhammer I always played Fark elves and my brother had a big orc and goblin army. Eventually I built a big night goblin army so looking forward to getting them all back on the table to try the new rules .
This is another faction I am keen to put together with pump wagons and Doom Divers, so much fun!!!😂😂Painting Night Goblins whilst watching this (OK, they are Gloomspite Gitz but.....🤫) Thanks for sharing this, very much appreciated.👍👍Subbed.
My favourite faction looking forward to their model range coming back. Hopefully we get a new wavern model. I don’t remember big un’s getting armour bane if previous editions. It was just a +1 in strength.
You know….given that it’s a points based upgrade, I’m happy to house rule the savage orc issue away…..my savage army theme will end up having forest goblin models with river trolls in the mix
the savage orcs confirm it, the non core factions are the ones with minis from fantasy that are sold in AoS, and GW don't want to sell twice in diferent boxes, because savage orcs minis are still part of the orruk warclans in AoS
maybe so they don't have to sell twice of the same thing, but with different quantity and different bases. I guess that buying the larger OW boxes would be cheaper than the AoS ones @@nraketh
I didn't hear my favorite unit mentioned Goblin Fanatics. Are they still around? Also I loved Animosity I rolled spectacularly poor, and my whole army either was arguing or fighting itself. I loved it.
Oh yes just bought my army along w movement trays for 30x30mm using the really nice avatar of war greenskin minis.. lotss of black orc boyz and bosses 😊
If I just want to spam as many black orcs as I can, how much of my army could actually be black orcs now? What even is the standard point value match? •Black orc warboss as general •Black orc big bosses to fill the rest of the leftover “character” slots •1 black orc mob for your “core” (which probably wouldn’t cost 25% of your army value?) •As many black orc mobs as possible up to 50% of your army cost for “special.” Without knowing the points costs or having access to the book it’s nearly impossible for me to figure out what models to actually try and collect to try out the game. I have know a local guy who’s got a lot of black orcs to trade though and I’m thinking that may be the easiest/cheapest way I could try my first army. Would you be able to help me with these questions? Just how many black orc models can I squeeze into one standard point value army? 😅
Animosity is still alive and kicking, pun not intended, you just have to play the Orc team in Blood Bowl and just when you think “All I need to do now is pass the ball to my well positioned Blitzer who then has to roll a 3+ with a reroll spare run it in and victory is mine all mine!!! Almost certainly animosity shows up again to prove that although you may think you have thought everything through Nuffle is there to remind you that you are playing their game. 😂😂😂
Savage Orcs seem more than possible. Anyone running units of less than 10Boar Boys or 20 Infantry is asking for trouble. 2k is easily hit with a mob of 30 Savage Orc, 2 mobs of 10-15 SO Boar Boys and either a second big combat mob or aob of 20 with bows.
Funny they went with the Weirdnob names. Are those supposed to be the Savage Orcs? Or are they not included because they're going to be coming with shiny new models in AoS? :)
The question I have is whether or not AoS models can be used for Old World if we don't have access to the old stuff.... or whether we should wait to see if they release Orcs FOR Old World
If im not missing something forest goblins never were part of the Orc and Goblin Army book of the last couple of Warhammer Fantasy editions. You only have them in form of the spider riders and arachnarok.
I hope Orcs will be better than before because Dwarves have always been favored by GW and insane strong while the Orcs where rather bad. Hopefully Orcs can be played not EXCLUSIVELY for the Lulz.
@@LordMacragge31 It is great, if your playing group works that way! My experience with Fantasy battle is a different one: Games always get a little more competitive than what was planned. I think this is caused by the rather long time it takes to plan , set up and play the game. When you take a look over at the chaos discussion, players are talking about lists including several single dragon ogres already.
Soon! I'm gonna show you guys the studio before that! It's been a work in progress which has been.. eventful. Always make sure the electrics are off before drilling by the way 🤣
Weird. Cross pollination between AOS and OW. I mean they are set in the same setting, but like it also feels extremely disingenuous having to have the same model on different base sizes. I'm not trying to hate on the old world, but I just don't see how this is going to work for GW. It feels like it's fighting AOS. And that feels like a mistake.
Choppas became much worse but hopefully that lowers the points on orcs. Or maybe they have given orcs S4 which they should have as they are a lot stronger then a goblin/human(S3)

It’s not so funny actually… soooo much restrictions for strategy purposes, and at some point it’s not so funny
Glad to see, that a Black Orc list is now possible. Was a pain in the bum with the Limit back then.
This is my big takeaway from this video. I'm *so* excited to make an army of orcs who are consummate professionals.
Savage Orcs will probably be available as a variant army list when the Orc and Goblin Arcane Journal comes out. Also no Night Goblin Fanatics? Or do they come as a upgrade choice for Night Goblin mobs?
Fanatics are an upgrade like they always were, along with netters :)
Something you missed is you can take 2 savage orc chariots now, which adds some extra points and a new datasheet that didnt happen before
Really happy you’re doing these videos, they’ve been great!
Can’t wait to hear about the wood elves!
What are you talking about, Welfs are disgusting and I am offended that you would mention them when you should be paying attention to the Orcs….

6th edition was, IMO, the best edition they had - and it feels like this is a continuation of that, pretending that 7th/8th didnt happen.

a savage orc army just can not have armor so what is the restriction what did I miss?
