Ok hold on, you can't complain superheroes are *corny* if you like Sam Raimi movies.
As a comic fan, I've always enjoyed seeing my favorite characters being on the big screen but lately, it has become exhausting. And honestly, if we keep making movies on every single superhero, we'd be at this for the next 50 years. But I slightly disagree on superheros being boring. List of ironies include: 1. Mysterio's costume was all done in post; his costume was spandex covered in QR codes - and was himself a snarky commentary on the overuse special effects. 2. Batman's comic book schtick was taking down people with magic powers despite being no more than paranoid asshole; that's why he's a superhero and not just a schmuck in hockey pads. 3. Brandon Lee was killed on "the crow" due to a prop failure - a gun loaded with blanks. 4. Raimi's Spider-Man movies featured one of the largest and heaviest costumes of all time. Four arms, four puppeteers , and it weighed as much as Kirsten Dunst.
1. Don't think he's specifically referring to FFH Mysterio. He just cite as example of why he doesn't want to play such role. But yes, his idea about bulky uncomfortable costumes is kinda dated (like Iron Man-dated). 2. I agree. but BVS, still stupid. Lols. 3. This is not irony. He didn't say firing a real gun was better. He even acknowledged that what they did with Ash vs Evil Dead was safer. 4. Not sure why this has to be about Spider-Man. He had a cameo but it wasn't like he was a big part of those movies. His reasons were personal, preferential. He doesn't want uncomfortable costumes, greenscreens and stuff. Okay, he's definitely attacking DC amd BVS is what you thought. lols. Bruce's example about the gunfire in Evil Dead versus Ash vs. Evil Dead strikes a good point. I know all the gunfire was CGI and that some of that CGI was unfinished and it looks that way. You know what? I don't care. They told a good story and they told it in an entertaining way.
That is what modern CG extravaganza superhero movies have forgotten. They have forgotten that they have to tell a good story.
Happy Birthday Bruce Campbell. I love Spider-Man 1, 2, 3, The Ant Bully, Sky High, Cloudy With A Change Of MeatBalls, and Cars 2. Awesome. Your amazing legend. Love u man. May the Peace be with u Fugax. From Harlingen Texas. June 22, 1958

A week ago I watched beetle, the 90's one with Bruce in it. And everyday since watching it I've seen Bruce in a movie on normal tv. What a weird series of synchronicities. Maybe some new Bruce stuff coming soon. Wait and see eh.
List of ironies include:
Okay, he's definitely attacking DC amd BVS is what you thought. lols.
It would only be ironic for him say what he said if he played Dr. Octopus or Green Goblin.
@@radishhorse1 Just want to point out that Bruce Campbell was supposed to be Mysterio for Spider-Man 4 and that he was playing Quentin Beck for all of those cameos.
@@EchoSD If he's supposed to be Mysterio in SM 4, and so? I still see no irony in there. It would only be ironic for him to say those things if he actually played one of those villains in bulky costumes. He didn't, he wasn't.
@@radishhorse1 I didn't say it was ironic. I just wanted to clarify that he was going to be a big part of the movies.
BVS and FFH fans pointing out ironies in this interview, listen: the only thing ironic about this is that Bruce said he doesn't like working in big superhero movies, which are made by studios who won't hire him for any major role. That's the irony. Okay, he's prolly going to have a cameo in Dr Strange because, well Sam Raimi, in case he really ends up making that movie.
He's right Batman VS Superman is stupid.
Exactly! No story just green screen. It is boring because no character is vulnerable and no stakes.
Fun fact- there are comics of marvel zombies x army of darkness
YES. Batman vs Superman was stupid simply because there is no way in hell Batman would ever beat Superman
Dat sexy kryptonite tho
@@Zanoladab i knew t'would be said
I wish he explained why Batman versus Superman is a bad idea, I don't think he had read Dark Knight Returns
DC comic book fans loathe The Dark Knight Returns and Frank Miller
@@Cee2k I don't know how much DC comic book fans you know but everyone I have talked about likes that story line
1:05 that’s funny because he was supposed to be him in Spider-Man 4 😂
Bruce Campbell is a great actor for advice like this, you don’t need to go to Hollywood to make a film, he did it and became a very successful trilogy, you just need passion and drive, and the Cgi is also on point. In ash vs evil dead they did a great job balancing out cgi and practical. Practical effects are old but they are so great to pull off and make the film more immersive, and superhero movies now are just CGI vomit
RESPECT TO THE SCIFI CHANNEL!!! it produces great, normal, and crappy stuff but it's all entertaining to me, twilight zone marathon!!! I taped the whole thing ty!
I'm waiting for his entry in doctor strange 2
Love you Bruce but Ash has the same plot armor as any superheroes
Ash is a badass, superhero's don't need much plot armor.
“They spent a lotta money kidding themselves.”
That sums up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice exactly! 😆
he is such a chad it’s incredible
Bruce calls it as he sees it.
Gotta respect the honesty 👍
Funny since he's prob gonna be in Doctor Strange 2
You just know when he said super hero movies are boring unless you focus on their flaws, that he was getting in his daily Sam Raimi praise, because we all know if he misses one day Sam will eviscerate Bruce with just an angry glare if he doesn't.
The last 5 years have proven him right. I'd pay money to see a movie shot in "butt-crack Kansas" than another shot in a green-screen studio.
Jesus christ, Bruce is so inspiring
I totally agree with him on the old school way of shooting a movie.
He is right. Superheroes are boring. With few exception they are just too powerfull to be in real danger what means they had nothing in common with the human race.
The whole point is that they’re super powerful beings fighting other super powerful beings. You can’t act like Superman is always fighting just regular people he’s not. Most superheroes don’t fight exclusively normal people.
if anyone else said this i would disagree but since its Bruce Campbell I am obligated to agree
He's right, I miss all the wild, wild west movies.
S-mart, s-exy and a really great actor who knows his craft. So he likely could have end up in romantic Hollywood comedies. So thankful he chose evil.
He is Speaking the Truth
