I am so glad you came to visit my home state of North Carolina again. Thank you for highlighting all that you did and bringing the beauty of the forest to light for all of us to enjoy. Your appreciation for the ecology is also noted. Come back often, my friend. Have a great week..
That video has left me speechless. That is a perfect example of what true appreciation of the earth is all about. Thank you Slim. You have made my day. I will return to this video for a long time to come.
70 years later I still remember the song we learned in elementary school. When I saw the title of this vid, the song kept me awake all night trying to remember all the words, Thanks for posting the poem.
We live near Joyce Kilmer Forest and know evey one of the trees you visited personally. I have photos of my kids gathered around "Romulus and Remus", the giant twins you stood between, and my sons face, peering out of the hollow log. So glad you could visit part of what is North America's eastern-most temperate rain forest, especially during the renewal of Spring. Peace!
Slim, you keep outdoing yourself! This video was so expertly done, and showed us the incredible beauty of the trees. I am originally from North Carolina (born and raised), and one of the things I love about NC to this day are the huge trees! Seeing them sure took me back to childhood. Thank you! ♥️🙏🏼🐾🙏🏼♥️
Slim I want to thank you for sharing your videos. I love your channel. You are doing what I wish I could have done. I love the outdoors and your videos make me so happy. Thank you.
Thanks Slim, for your work and efforts to make this presentation! Beautiful video, from start to finish. You're the best!!! Stay safe, and happy travels this summer!!
Just Beautiful in every way. This is one of my favorite poems. Thank you Slim for helping make the world a better place, I feel joy today watching your vid. Good man❤
SP, Absolutely stunning trees. The way you wove your thoughts and scenery together with reverence to the forest made me cry. I waited to watch this 1st on Mother's Day, as a treat to myself, and will rewatch with my mom today. Thank you so very much.
Those big thick trees & all the different colours of green, just beautiful. Loved your walk too, just perfect! Thank you Slim for your poem too! Elaine from Queensland,Australia.
FREE?? Wow that is amazing. Those twins were huge. Enjoy your walks in nature my friend. Look Ma, no hands!!! You inspire us all Slim. Cheers brother!!!
Thank you slim,I love theses outdoor adventures, Truely a treat, I think we are about the same age , you set a good example of still doing the things you 💕 love 😊, ps. I so wanted to see some big Trees 🌳 you helped that to come true, thanks again, GOD bless, Slims traveling viewer, Betty
I love camping in spring no bugs! That was the perfect camp sight . Something special about old growth forests! And your are absolutely right… they are irreplaceable thanks for an incredible video once again!
🎉You should get a TH-cam Award for your consistency of excellence in your videography!! I have followed many TH-camr’s as well as yourself for many years, without hesitation I say your channel’s videos are a work of Art. You take the Time to set up, take down, set up again shots of interest and not just “pan” a video! This video of the Joyce Kilmer’s Forest in N. Carolina is captivating! -Thank you for working so hard at your craft!
Hi Slim, even though I've heard that poem a few times with your voice and you sitting right out next to the trees it really touched my heart that was Beautiful, I'm here in N.C. also and I guess I tend to take the Big Beautiful Tree's for Granted . Your Awesome Slim !
That's a beautiful camp site, very spacious, so pretty. Can just imagine a small cabin in that spot overlooking the lake. Very nice & FREE! Such a pretty park, perfect time of year to be in that area, very nice video as always. TY
Thank you for sharing such beauty with us. I am so fortunate to live in beautiful area like this. I manage to go out about 4 to 5 times a week to just sit or hike or drive thru our beautiful Southern Illinois.
Slim, you are amazing! When I turn on TH-cam and see all the disheartening, depressing things that pop up especially from the news outlets, it gives me peace and joy to be able to watch your videos. I find them relaxing and very calming. You are extremely talented with the camera and you obviously have the heart and soul of a poet yourself. You are an inspiration! I'll be traveling through the NC mountains in a few weeks on my way "out west" and will be sure to explore around Robbinsville. Thank you for what you do! Safe travels always!
What beautiful trees! Thanks Slim, I enjoyed the scenery, trees, the hike, the frog serenade, and especially the poem by Joyce. A truly heavenly place for sure.
I really enjoyed this, Slim. Great job as always. You are a master at quality videos, sir. The reading of the poem was perfect. Thank you so much!! ❤❤❤❤❤
What a beautiful park and a camp that is private and so peaceful. I love to hike in North Carolina lots of trails along with part of the Appalachian Trail. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding once again SP. You have a beautiful soul. That campsite was fantastic and your wonderful narration through the forest was beautiful and peaceful. 👍😊
Skin thank you for appreciating nature and our NC mountains so deeply. And thanks for sharing your travels. You know if i could make one wish come true it would be to bring the former kings of the forest back to life. The American Chestnut was even larger than the tulip poplar, plus it fed the animals and gave us the most beautiful woodworking wood. The chestnut blight was imported to the North America over 100 years ago and quickly wiped out the chestnut giants. There are several projects trying to bring them back. The North Carolina forest has been a very different place since they died. Those tulip trees sure are impressive in their own right though. Thanks again!
Thank you. I have been to Joyce Kilmer many times since it is not far from my house but seeing it through your eyes in this beautiful video, expanded my appreciation of it.
Hello Slim - we had that exact campsite back in October 2012. Glad to see that it's still in great shape. It ranks up there as one of the best sites we've ever had! Keep up the great videos!
What a beautiful campsite Slim; being next to trees and water looks perfect to me. You’re absolutely right - old growth forests must be protected, and without trees our planet would be a very different place. I hope to see those massive Poplars in person one day. Thank you for sharing such a wondrous forest with us.
I’d have to think the thing at at 3:06 is more for hanging a “Coleman” type lantern. It helps keeping thoughtless people from hanging lanterns from trees, possibly damaging them. Too short to keep bears out of food, but just right for illuminating the table and surroundings. Love the video. A new SP video drop is always a high point in any day for me! Always very beautiful, and very peacefully zen. I couldn’t agree with you more about the need to preserve and protect trees. You never disappoint, sir. 😃
I love the butterflies,, so many different kinds and colorful.. the views are awesome,, I always love camping by the waters! wow! free campsite,, love that! The Carolina's are beautiful. thank you for sharing your road trips.. I have enjoyed. ♥
What a quality video.. so many on TH-cam don’t spend time on their work, but Slim, you do. A+
Thanks Mark. This one was a killer though as I am struggling with a new laptop platform and software. Big learning curve! SP
