    He was so good the first half of the season and I think he still can be a good qb, but taking 60+ sacks rattled him. Along with poor play calling and a bad Oline I don’t think he got a fair enough chance to succeed

      He is a backup QB. Quit making excuses. He is slow to get through his progression and lacks anticipation. Jacoby is playing behind the same O LINE and making plays. GTFOH.

      @johnnyrotten9757 That's these new school football fans man. Mfs are too ingrained in this current microwave society where they want instant success. Lol
      Then people are gonna reference "CJ Stroud" even though we have no idea how he'll pan out when teams start REALLY breaking down his film. You never base someone's skill and ceiling off of 1 year.

    Howell's decline is 1 part Bieniemy's playcalling, and his complete refusal to do all of the things smart playcallers do to insulate and nurture an inexperienced QB.
    1 Part a warranted loss of faith in his playmakers, if you go back through the season the drops have been ridiculous and came at horrible times.
    Either early keeping Sam from getting into a rhythm or in big moments when Sam was giving the team a chance to get back in or win games.
    The 2 INTs in this game came from Logan Thomas & Curtis Samuel failing during some of the rare occasions when EB actually dialed up the type of easy production young QBs need the 1st early on when they were trying to get Sam going and the 2nd when they were trying to get back into the game. The last part is Howell doing less of the off-schedule playmaking he carried the offense with earlier in the season, in an attempt to force himself to work within the structure of EB's offense that's not doing him any favors. I think Bieniemy's plan and execution have been pretty clear malpractice when it comes to developing a young QB. What Brissett, a veteran QB has been able to do against coasting defenses late in games doesn't say anything about Sam's potential and just serves to limit the type of teams who would have interest in EB as a playcaller.
    If you are looking to develop a young QB, then steer clear.
    Sam's flashes in his 1st year as a starter have been every bit on the level and frequency of Josh Allen, and Matt Stafford's 1st seasons as starters.
    The difference being, that Sam's durability kept him in for more punishment and he didn't have a chance for any kind of mental reprieve.
    Even with the rough end of his 1st season, it still isn't too different from Trevor Lawrence, Derek Carr, or Tua's or even HOFers like The Mannings, Brady, Farve, or Drew Brees in their 1st seasons as starters.
    So I think it's crazy to write him off already, especially with such clear problems with the coaching and roster.
    With the flashes Sam had in a situation so antithetical to a young QBs development/success,
    It's easy to envision a similar result to what Jalen & Dak had, with a similar support structure.
    Give Sam a top-5 OL, Strong Run Game, Good TEs, and a playcaller who knows how to protect and develop a young QB like they had
    and we could easily be looking at a similar QB.
    If not, I still think Sam showed enough, along with the utility his contract provides as a bridge to avoid QB in the draft,
    While we smartly build the roster and fill the many holes so the next QB has a higher chance of success like KC/Philly/Dallas/.
    Instead of wasting away a rookie contract while we try to build a competitive roster like the Chargers/Jaguars/Cardinal/ETC or ruin him altogether as the Panthers might have with Bryce. Drafting a QB because we have a top 5 pick is Checkers mentality, we have a new Owner, tons of cap and draft capital and an insanely cheap QB contract who'se shown flashes in the face of a horrible situation. We should be thinking Age of Empires

    On that whip route where he bailed out the pocket & made the throw on the 3rd & 10, if he stays in the pocket his guard would’ve had the back of his helmet in Sam’s facemask if he stayed. This season offensively has been a collective of pieces (play calling, team building, wideouts, o-line & Sam) not performing. Some more than others but I honestly think Sam is the 4th on the list of the ones I just put who should take some blame but not the bulk load.

      @SlimBone1105 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, there's time to make that throw. As a QB you NEED anticipation. If he throws it right at the pause screen to where the receiver should be going he can catch that in stride. Terry is a tough guy. Hell make something happen to get that 1st. Those 2 extra seconds of rolling out gives the DB time to breakdown and come down hill for the tackle.

    • @samuelgray2410
      @samuelgray2410 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SlimBone1105I disagree, as soon as he hits his back foot the DT is ripping through the inside of the guard. It’s 3rd & 10 when you’re reading that concept by looking at the leverage of the CB who has outside leverage, Howell could think that the 5 yd whip route is his go to immediately but it won’t give him an immediate 1st down so he’s probably focusing on one on one with the safeties on the deeper routes but didn’t have the time to see it perfectly

    Washington is good at hitting on 2nd QBs, and masquerading them as starters. First Heinickie then Howell. I like the heart and fight in those two, and in both cases, early on, they had me fooled to. In the end, they are just second stringers getting extensive run. Just good enough to keep you from getting a top draft pick, but no where near good enough for playoffs or serious contention.

      I agree, Howell is Heineke with a stronger arm. Heineke didn't have to pass fifty times a game. Same team as last year, different o- coordinator. We do need to upgrade I believe, just don't mortgage the future to do it.

    Howell was ruined by Eric Bienemy in WA. EB was passing on 66% of the downs with a young QB is STUPID! Every DC in the world see that and say we are blitzing 66% of the time hahaha. He has all the tools to be a good QB with the right coaching. People trashing his sack rate and saying he had a decent o-line needs to look at the numbers his time from snap to throw was lower than Fields/Wilson/Hurts/Purdy/Mahomes/Love/Stroud/Stafford at 2.4 secs. So that shows his O-line wasn't as good as some would think.

    It cracks me up how Bryce Young isn't held to the same lofty standards as Howell and rookie Aiden O'connell are held!!

      He's currently on one of the most hated QBs right now. Kruger and many other TH-camrs critiqued Young the same as other veterans and rookies. There are many people like yourself calling Young a bust and other stuff. His own fanbase hates him and wants him gone. People want to blame literally EVERYTHING wrong with the organization and the problems they've had for 6 years on Young. What are you talking about "making excuses?" He was called a bust after his first game. Why are you even talking about Bryce on a Sam Howell analysis?

    Just how many games did Brissette win? I wouldn't push that statement too much. Maybe EB gave Brissett a few different plays to help him so he could put the entire loss on Sam Howell which he did after every game. So much for EB's failed system! If Brissett had won any games, I might buy your bullshit, but he didn't win any games. You clearly don't know much about football. You asked for what I think, well I just told you!! I am also unsubscribing from your podcast. Find yourself another way to make a living, YOU will never be a starter in the podcast business.
