Part 1 of a series i intend to do detailing how to get a basic grasp of this mighty but difficult radio frequency scanner,
In this part we look at entering a 2 different frequencies and searching between them for activity using VFOs (Variable Frequency Oscillator).
I have one. I wanna love it, i really do! But she's not easy to learn. Glad that you made this vid. I might finally learn how to tackle this beast of a radio! Thanks for sharing.

Excellent tutorial of AR8200MK3 scanner. This device is complicated but very interesting as well.
Thanks for making this video, I have learned a lot from it, I will be making a video either today or tomorrow on how to program the AOR AR8200 radio by hand with out a computer.
Because I do not see anyone on TH-cam with a how to on programing.
You bought this receiver because its the best.
The more I play with it, the more I realise a lot of the problems with this radio is the bewildering array of memory functions...
Next video is how to program a range into it.

You're welcome. I wish i had more time but there is very little to listen to these days and the advancement of SDRs has relegated analogue scanners into the history bin BUT there is a lot of short wave and USB stuff to listen to.

Thanks mate for going to this effort…. I have the 8200 mk3 too!… My gosh what a learning curve this is.. I am looking at a mag mount for using out and about when I am on photography locations, can you recommend a decent one?
I like the idea of the moon raker mag mount either the smaller or larger one. I take it the larger one is a little better?
Also what do you recommend for setting up an antenna at home?…

It was never meant to highlight correct frequencies (that's for a later lesson) but was to demonstrate how to scan between a range of frequencies.

Difficult to use you damn right the only station I received this local FM station with music and some aircraft voices really vaguely
And are you surrounded by thousands of competing radio waves from all the wifi, bluetooth, tv's, radios and the millions of other devices swamping out signals?
Get an antenna booster, make a long wire antenna, then you can listen to other stuff. The airwaves are a lot more crowded than they were 20 years ago...

Great video, but there are numerous mistakes. First PMR starts with 446.00625MHz and ends with 446.09375MHz. I don't know how you set it, but it's clearly scanning wrong range (goes from 446.093 to 446.495 which is far from PMR)

I have ver 2 radio can I recharge my aa nimh batteries using the adapter that came with the radio and charge the battery internal from the radio?
where do you buy the amp?
I recommend the AOR but it is a pig to learn to use properly. Try yupiteru or uniden or bearcat...
Are you using the original antenna (coupled with the pre-amp) that came with the radio? Your videos were very informative, are you planning anymore?

Well, it mainly depends on what you want to scan.If you want a GOOD scanner then consider a 2nd hand 8200, as complex as it is, if you want to scan a range of frequencies its as simple as any. The tricky thing with the AOR is the memory.. Look at Uniden, yupiteru , icom etc.

Sorry nobody sells scanners anymore. You have to make them yourself from parts.

Hi what does the mod do and how do you do it
you know the wheel on the side? Well if you press it, it has a switch. That switch is not connected. The mod makes that switch active.
I’ve only just ordered it so can’t try it yet but will be in touch again when it arrives

PLEASE put you experiences on line, I am wondering if I should upgrade but I do already know the port on the side is very different...
after purchasing this unit I realized I made a mistake a huge mistake. Everything out there nowadays is digital I don't believe this unit can decode digital broadcasts. Cell phone, police, etc. so what is a good for all post a video to let you know I was also interested in a Drake 8 shortwave receiver. The still some shortwave out there plus is a collectible. What I don't like right off the bat there is no software out there decent enough to go with the Aor. Again even though I don't have this scanning yet., Assured authority through about how the whole world is turning digital so I really don't know what I could do with it. My first thought was to keep it in the box and resell it unused, or scan the airwaves looking for strange signals such as over the horizon radar harp so I paid $700 for something that's practically useless if this was in the 90s or 80s it would've been fantastic. What gets me there selling $3000 radio scanners unblocked but for what reason you need to have software to decipher all the digital code that's out there I think that is where I need to look soon, decoding software lets they in touch even get me atsinq55@gmail.com because I'm usually not on this Gmail account next week to Google. So you can email me and I'll tell you exactly what it does. I mean they 800 band is dead and also contact me on Skype kt881962 first email me at sinq55@gmail.com maybe you can give me some suggestions on what to listen to only live three hours from Kennedy space Center be really cool with this radio again without some good software I mean really good software I think you're dead in the water who knows maybe I'll just give it to you as a present for free...lol
Damn, I thought it was "trunk"? compatible. I do believe you can listen to the emergency services in the USA but not in the UK...
Shame as I have the JAOR software for the 8200 mk3...

not exactly fun for people in the US anymore to use anymore as all the juicy stuff here is digital and this radio won't help you with that.
